Hello reader. This is a... pagebreak! To... rest your eyes!
|
[1] INFORMATION DESK
[1.01] Rules & Tips Are you a first timer to TL Mafia? Need help getting started with general tips? Not sure on how to use PMs in PM games? The main thread that any beginner should read before getting started, the General Guide to Playing Mafia provides answers for all these questions as well as much more!
[1.02] Updated OP Want to host a Mafia game but don’t know how to do it? Need some help with your OP? Wonder how those huge posts regarding rules and roles are made up? Have no fear! A template for games has been made and can be used to both start up a regular game as well as to be edited for themed games.
[1.03] Active Mafia Game List Want to know which games are currently conducting signups and which ones are coming up? What to know if it’s possible for you to host a game? This thread lists all that and more! Be sure to check it to see if your favorite game is going to start soon or not! If you want to host a game or are thinking about hosting a game, post in this thread as well and your game will be added to the queue.
[1.04] Ban List What happens when you’re inactive in a game? Do TL mods come into the Mafia subforum to lay down the law? And for that matter, what IS the law? This thread helps the hosts keep track of banned players for the mafia games as well as informed us all HOW we can act to NOT get banned. Bans can also be disputed here. The Ban List is currently managed by Blazinghand.
[1.05] IRC Channel Bored? Did you just die in your current game and don't know what to do with yourself? Want to talk to people who will understand what you are talking about when you talk about a three recruiter no flip setup? Join this channel, to discuss general game theory, past games or just chat with other mafia players. There’s always someone who wants to talk about either mafia, the current results of the proleague, or something entirely different.
[1.06] Player Replacement If you're hosting a game, did a player who signed up abruptly go inactive or suddenly need to leave the game? In that case, advertise here that you're seeking out a replacement to take that player's place in your game. Simply let everyone know which game you're hosting and how many players you are seeking to replace. While you are not guaranteed to find a replacement using this thread, it still serves as a good place to notify the general community that you are looking for new players to substitute into an already-active game.
[1.07] Coaching Requests Whether you're hosting a game in which you'd like players to have coaches or you're playing in a game and wish to improve by learning from more experienced players, this is a good place to start asking for coaches to sign up for your game. Coaches can help guide and instruct players of all ranges of experience, from the newbies playing their first few TL Mafia games or the long-time players who realize they need to take that extra step to perform well in a game. If you're looking for a coach, simply PM the host and they will try to accommodate you.
[1.08] Shadowing Requests If you feel that you're not quite ready to jump right in and start playing, shadowing is also an option. Shadowing is where another player plays the game, while discussing the game with you privately. This gives you an idea regarding how to play and what things to look for and can be a great learning experience. Shadowing is not allowed in all games, so make sure you check with the host ahead of time. If you don't have a player in mind to shadow, you can ask for volunteers in the game thread or the thread below and someone will be happy to work with you in most cases.

[3] GAME RECORDS AND AWARDS
[3.01] TL Mafia Database A list of completed games, sorted by type may be found at the TL Mafia Database sticky. Here you can find a link to each game along with the players who participated, their roles and alignments, and the results of each day and night post.
Additionally, below the game records you can find a list of compiled statistics including highest win rates, most games played, and various other stats. These stats are updated every few months.
Finally, the player records section contains a list of all players who have participated in a game of mafia on teamliquid, along with their roles and alignments for each game. When viewing a player's history, filter links are provided for their completed games to help analysis their posting style and possibly provide hints to their alignment in ongoing games if patterns are discovered. These player records are updated on a monthly basis.
If you notice any mistakes or have any suggestions for how the database can be improved, feel free to share your ideas in the thread.

- 10/19/2011 - Added TL Mafia XLIV and Surprisingly Normal Mini Mafia VI to the Game Records section

- 11/4/2011 - Massively expanded the Art and Entertainment section by adding Mr. Wiggles' Mafia-related art, Meapak_Zipph's RoL vs. LSB grudge-match blog, and Kurumi's Mafia uprising blog. Screw adding game records, art rules! (But for those who like game records, Incognito's TL Mafia XVI is added to the Game Records section.)
- 11/14/2011 - Added summaries to Teamliquid Mafia Resurrection and TL Mafia VII, thanks to the helpful Ver, to the Game Records and added kitaman's Mafia-NFL analogies to the Entertainment section. Still pondering where to put Game Statistics
- 1/9/2012 - Added Incognito and Foolishness' General Guide to Playing Mafia to the Self-Improvement section. Happy new year!
- 7/6/2015 - Reorganized certain sections and separated the discussion threads from the community thread. Removed the obsolete game record section, which now links to the TL Mafia database. Added section for yearly mafia awards. Updated the guides, discussion, community, and entertainment sections with content from the past three years.
CONTRIBUTING TO THE LIBRARY
Do you want to add to the library and help the effort to make our forum more readable and accessible to newcomers and veterans alike? We totally welcome your contributions to all sections of the library. Just post any additions you'd like to see to the TL Mafia Library in this thread, and one of our friendly administrators (currently kitaman27) will try to add it to the appropriate section of the library as promptly as possible. Please include as much information as possible; links, descriptions, suggestions on what section it should go into, and proper formatting will help us add your contributions to the library easily and efficiently. Special thanks to the library's previous administrators dreamflower and chaoser.
Special Note: Players who have bans from TL Mafia games can reduce their ban count by one by contributing to the TL Mafia Library. Please refer to this post for more details.

To clarify, you post the first post and then immediatly post 3-4 reserved spots and then edit in, rather than making the posts one at the time, because I (incorrectly) assumed you we going with one huge post for the library.
EDIT: The formating for the minis seems to be screwed up, I think a [spoiler] tag was misplaced.
|
Yeah...I probably should have made a bunch of "Reserved" posts to begin with. I actually had everything ready to be posted one after the other, so I was initially prepared to just copy-paste and post each section within a minute or two of each other. But then, when I was previewing the Information Desk just before it was about to go up, I noticed that I hadn't written up a neat little description for the Player Replacements thread. I figured it'd only take five minutes to write and didn't think that anyone was going to respond so quickly. Lesson learned!
Edit: Misplaced spoiler tags? Me? Never!! (By which I mean, thanks for catching that, GMarshal. One reason why I wanted to break the library up into separate posts was because that way, one misplaced tag doesn't completely ruin the entire post.)

Something that would probably be really helpful for recording past games is if hosts would remember to update the important posts section upon completetion of a game. Also, remembering to include a final role list would be pretty useful. Currently, there are a lot of games that have a partially updated list in the OP, but you have to search through the thread if you want to find the roles of anybody that survived to endgame. Thanks for update chaoser/dreamflower.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +XLV was hosted by Kurumi and kitaman27 in September 2011. It was a 20 person normal game with a Team Fortress 2 theme. The game included a mute mechanic, which restricted certain players from responding to pms. Mafia got off to a rough start on day one when Palmar, the mafia pyro, accidentally quoted an incorrect role pm and was quickly lynched. Things took at turn for the worse for town, as the day one lynch was followed by four consecutive mislynches. However, Kenpachi, the town Spy, came to the rescue with two excellent vigilante shots on jcarl and DropBear. On the final day, four players remained, with Nisani201 managing to dodge the lynch using a set of forged pms, resulting in a scum victory.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +This game was a standard setup designed to punish the idea of confirmed townies through the use of non-standard mafia roles, and using Majority Deadline lynch rules. This game started off with a weak town showing, starting with two mislynches right off the bat. However a gosu medic save from DropBear on foolishness and some solid analysis combined with good usage of the watcher role from foolishness led to three consecutive mafia lynches, including the mafia framer. Then the mafia busted out the big guns, with chaoser fakeclaiming dt at a really ackward time. Combined with the scumteams earlier bussing of the their teamamtes and three modkills day 6 (out of 12 remaining players) due to faliure to vote, the town simply folded and died.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +This game should be renamed Modkill Mafia, as that was the highlight of the game. Day one consited of all of two pages of discussion, up to 4 when the day was extended by 24 hours, even so it ended in a no lynch and three townies were modkilled, putting the town at lylo night 1. This was followed up by raynpelikoneet becoming aggravated at another game and claiming mafia in thread with the intent of being modkilled. He was obliged, putting the town in a slightly better situation. Still town seemed to be at a disadvantage, untill zany_001 claimed scum and "outed" his teammate who he claimed was Toadesstern (in reality the town aligned detective), this led to massive agravation, as outing your team is against the rules, but this was not an infraction, meaning that no modkills were merited, yet by not modkilling a player became confirmed. The day ended with zany_001 being lynched and modkilled and Thnikkaman47 being modkilled for failure to vote. This led to lylo day 3, with Toadesstern the DT being shot at night. A highly inactive thread meant the town had nothing to go on to analyze, and jish17 a VT ended up on the galows, leading to a scum victory in the most inactive and infraction prone games in the history of SNMM games.

+ Show Spoiler +Scum/Eldritch Abomination joint victory
- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Run by Hesmyrr, Cosmic Horror mafia was an open setup featuring the third party role of Eldritch Abomination, who had some very interesting mechanics, most notable are its immunity to being shot by scum and its wincondition of driving everyone mad by visiting them at night. Also appearing in this game is GMarshal smurfing as TheFerryman. The game began with discussion of how the Eldritch Abomination should be addressed, the day suddenly took an intriguing turn when TheFerryman and Palmar both determined that Mr.Wiggles (Mafia Goon) was scum and focused on trying to get him lynched, unfortunately their attempts fell just short and no one was lynched. During the night Palmar, the Medic was shot. The following day Jackal58 (a mafia goon) and JeeJee (also a mafia goon) came up with an intriguing play, JeeJee "trolled" by bread-crumbing mafia and jackal58 called him out on it, getting Jeejee lynched, and supposedly diverting attention from wiggles while buying himself credit. JeeJee was lynched and TheFerryman nightkilled. The following day town managed to get their stuff together and lynched Wiggles, leaving the mafia at a deficit, unfortunately, like in many other games, from town rested on their laurels and from that point on didn't manage to lynch Jackal58, partially due to the incredible amount of credit that the Jeejee lynch bought him. An inactive town was slaughtered, reminding us of the age old lesson that the game isn't over until all the mafia is dead.

Spoils the result!+ Show Spoiler +Reflections of a Cosmic Horror... I was the 3rd Party Cosmic Horror, enemy of all, and needed to make everyone alive insane in order to win. The first few days I kept a low profile in order to blend in, spreading Insanity to those I suspected of surviving to the endgame. During D3 I decided to scumhunt, I didn´t fear a nightkill and so took the oddities from D1 and built a case on Wiggles and tnkted, which ended with Wiggles lynched. I suspected tnkted of being the last Scum, and so visited Chaos13, a suspected Psychiatrist. However this was the night that Jackal, the last Scum, tried to nightkill me, resulting in him going insane, Chaos13 dying instead of me, and me being informed of Jackals alignment. Jackal knew who I was, I knew who Jackal were, but keeping deceiving Town was the best tactic for both of us, at least until either had the opportunity to survive a confrontation. If there would have been another Scum alive then it would have ended differently, but now we were even, he couldn´t nightkill me, but I didn´t want to lynch him if he kept killing Sane Townies, and perhaps the Psychiatrist. The control of the game went out of the hands of Town by then. The only way they could have won is with me and Jackal accusing eachother, the survivor getting lynched with the double lynch rule, but until we were forced into that situation we kept the peace, lynching the most suspicious Town without drawing attention to ourselves. In a way the double-lynch rule to prevent a Kingmaker Scenario caused Horror and Scum to ally against Town.
Those last few days were very tense, I constanly tried to find an opportunity to win alone, not trusting Jackal to keep the peace, and not being able to find the Psychiatrist despite my best efforts. As it were it didn´t go exactly as planned, my Insane Townies were killed, and without the possibility of an endgame with everyone Insane except Jackal, where I could lynch him and win right away, it ended with a joint Scum-Horror Victory after the Psych died.
The morale of the story? Playing Third Party is complicated.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +An exciting back and forth themed game, this was an extremely strong showing by the mafia, notably wherebugsgo, and an excellent demonstration of active survivor play from tnkted. Town never really managed to get its act together, becoming too distracted by the gimmicky side mechanics of items which they somehow used to "confirm" tnkted, the survivor as town. Not only this, but the town managed to lynch one of their strongest roles, Twilight Sparkles, a jack of all trades which heavily focused on determining roles, day 1, following it up by no-lynching when they had wherebugsgo, the most active mafia member one vote away from death at the deadline. This was made worse by the detective being shot night 2, and the veteran getting modkilled day 3. With the survivor holding all the items that could have saved the town and the town going after the wrong people, the game ended at the end of night 3, leaving a very happy scumteam and a rather disappointed town. All in all it was a very active game (reaching almost 75 pages) and it showcased a lot of good play mixed in with some interesting mechanics

Looking forward to the end result.

Wow, that's pretty impressive, Meapak. I'm looking forward to the results as well. Maybe I should add a new category to the Game Records post called "Mafia Statistics" or something and post your numbers as well as Ver's game victory counts.

Originally, I had it under Normal Games, but when I looked at the OP and the setup, I noticed a lot of unusual roles that I felt differed pretty far from the classic medic/detective/vigilante/godfather roles in normal games, like the 0.5 KP vigilante, nosy neighbor, and self-conscious night vigilante. It also had a new mute mechanic, which I'd never seen before. So, I felt it was too unusual to belong in the Normal Games category, which meant it should go under Themed Games. If you or Kurumi think otherwise, let me know.

I'd also consider it a normal game. Usually normal games have been allowed to slightly deviate off the standard setup whether it be special pm rules (in this case mute) or a couple modified standard roles (.5 kp vig/self-conscious vig). Nosy neighbors seem pretty standard for normal games as they are the miller equivalent for games with trackers or watchers. Doesn't make much difference either way though.
|
Hmm, okay. I'll move it to Normal Games, then.

My number is wrong! I count 8 or 9, depending on if you count Caller's aborted game. (AMW, resurrection, caller's game, mafia 4, mafia 5, mafia 6, smurf game, speed game, PYP1) Also, Ver's number probably has the same problem as Ace's.

Lol you're counting Resurrection?

It has come to my attention that the TL Mafia Library is missing some prime entertainment material in the form of the VODs for RebirthofLegend's grudge match versus LSB from...umm...some time ago, I think early this year, which was actually streamed and casted by Mr. Wiggles, tnkted, Dr. H, BrownBear, and Deconduo. I believe it was a five- or seven-set Broodwar grudge match with signatures on the line. Does anyone still have these VODs saved anywhere? They would be a hilarious addition to the Art and Entertainment section.

it was on decon's livestream, and all casts get autosaved i think.

The theme games section could really use a lot of help too, as there have been tons of those recently and we haven't gotten many of them catalogued and summarized. But any help adding new games to the Game Records section would be much appreciated.

You know that I'm probably going to be the only person who does this right? Why not just say 'Hey VE, why don't you do 2 Normals instead of 1?' I'd have accepted that as well. Until my bans are done I'm at YOUR disposal.

+ Show Spoiler +Badmannered Bastards Scum Team wins!
- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Werewolves was a themed game with 21 players which was hosted by Ciryandor and cohosted by GMarshal. It was a pm game, featured dual scum teams and several roles and mechanics new to Team Liquid Mafia, the most prominent of which were both the lynch and night actions occuring at the same time, plus the introduction of traits as well as roles.
The first lynch hit scum in GreYMisT but each Mafia team managed to snipe a blue player in JeeJee and DropBear on the first night, leaving the town with only one remaining blue. Miscommunications between DropBear and several other players just before he died led to consecutive mislynches on the two most active town players in Nisani201 and Jackal58, which crippled the town. From there the game activity reduced drastically as the scum factions began taking each other out.
On the final day there were 5 players remaining, 2 town (Sevryn and sinani206), 2 from the Ragequitting Rushers team (Kurumi and snotboogie) and one from the Badmannered Bastards (Da Muffinman). Sevryn and sinani206 attacked Kurumi and got him lynched. Kurumi used his vengeful ability on sinani and their nightkill on Sevryn. However Da Muffinman had gone unnoticed and used his nightkill on snotboogie, eliminating the other scum team and leaving him as sole survivor on his debut.
The game suffered from low activity and poor play from many players but introduced several interesting new concepts and mechanics.

+ Show Spoiler +
- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Newbie Mini Mafia was hosted by kitaman27 and erandorr in October 2011. The game was open to players with three or less games of experience. GreYMisT, wherebugsgo, Curu, and GMarshal volunteered to help out as coaches. The setup was semi-open with 3 mafia goons, 8 vanilla town and 1 medic. Day one involved mostely questions and setup speculation, resulting in a no-lynch. Skrammen the medic barely escaped with his life falling 1 vote short of being lynched. Luckily for him, this suspicion allowed him to survive to endgame without being shot.
On night one, risk.nuke revealed his suspicions of toad and was shot. From the start Ciryandor and HarbingerOfDoom had established himself as the town leaders. HoD pushed Hyshes as his day two lynch and the remaining players followed suit, resulting in a day two mislynch. A potential turning point, mafia shot HoD, who was sucessfully saved by Skrammen the medic. Day three sermokala replaced hackelbeast and immediately started to go after Toad. Midway through the cycle, Ciryandor posted a massive group of post by post analyses of every single player in the game. In the end, Chocolate the townie was lynched and GMarshal the pony cultist was resurrected using a bizzare summoning ritual.
After sucessfully defending himself on day three, Toadesstern was seen as a threat to the mafia team and shot. Skrammen appeared to be in trouble the following day, but votes had pilled up too quickly, making town question if it was a mafia bandwagon. HoD suggested a second no-lynch and there was little resistance. At this point, town morale was rather low with several players questioning if they could concede. Mafia continued to miss on their medic snipe, hitting Zanfada the townie, but it was now LYLO.
Despite not lynching any scum on the first 4 days, town was still in a managable position. Since the medic and his protection target were still alive, the 3 scum were narrowed down to a group of 5 players. Those townies who were innocent would be able to narrow the 3 scum to a pool of 4 players. Unfortunately, semokala was lynched as a result of a unanimous decision, not being able to overcome his replacement's inactivity and incorrect early reads, ending the game with a flawless scum victory.
Overall, the activity and effort was an improvement from the previous newbie game, but town never was able to get itself on track with a scum lynch. xsksc, Ciryandor, and IMABUNNEH all managed to go through the entire game with relatively no pressure on themselves. Ciryandor sucessfully established himself as a townie and was hardly considered as a possible scum. Skrammen's medic save could have turned things around, but it was not enough in the end.

Three Kingdoms Mafia was hosted by Caller in May 2010. The setup was based on the Chinese Novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The game began with three factions: The Forces of Wei, led by Cao Cao, The Forces of Wu, led by Sun Quan and The Forces of Shu, led by Liu Bei. Each faction began with only its leader and could recruit a new member every night. When the leader of a faction died, the entire faction collapsed. There was also a 4th party, the Yellow Turbans, who could not be recruited, but died if they attempted to recruit a faction leader. A faction won if they outnumbered all other factions. Rather than using a traditional lynch system, players could vote to pledge their armies to a player, allowing the person with the most votes to kill one player. Essentially there was a mayor election every cycle. The game began with the realization that the majority of the players were neutrally aligned and that hunting down the faction leaders should be the priority. Radfield was elected day one and decided to kill Last Romantic due to inactivity. Unfortunately for Wei, their leader Cao Cao had been killed day one. The following day, Tricode claims revealing that he has role checked L as another likely faction leader. Half of the town then proceedes to claim to have visted L as well. Hesmyrr claims Lu Xun, indicating that he prevented all actions from taking place on L, sending the town into a state of confusion. Since the faction leaders were not provided with safe claims, the town decided to mass name claim, forcing L to claim a questionable name. At the end of the day, Hesmyrr decides to betray his faction leader, revealing that L was indeed Sun Quan, resulting in the death of Wu. On day three, Tricode claims to have been recruited and identifies yet another leader, Trezquet23. As a result, the third faction leader in three days, Zhang Jiao of the Yellow Turbans is killed. Realizing there is little chance for victory, BC, the Shu Leader, Liu Bei, concedes with his partner Fishball. The neutral party abused their information roles and the faction leaders were repeatedly betrayed and never had an opportunity to recruit enough influential members into their cult, resulting in a neutral victory.

The Medic protected the Mafia nightkill target, so noone died during the night.
During Day 2 accusations went towards LSB and VE, then VE got nervous and claimed to have been shot, just like Palmar had done at the start of the night. Between Palmar and VE, Town trusted palmar, and VE was lynched.
Alignmentrevealing Vigilante hit LSB the Scum, and Scum killed Palmar Night 2. Scum used the bustrading ability to siphon votes going to Palmar on to Layabout.
Layabout was suspected before this, but now sitting with 10 votes everyone was sure that he must be scum, because scum vouldn´t siphon votes onto a Townie. Day 3 was over in 4 hours, before layabout even had time to get back and notice the night result.
Night 3 was extended, and Chaoser was talking confidently with some other players. He was targeted by the second alignmentrevealing Vigilante and flipped Scum, and Scum killed Paperscraps.
Day 4 Jackal claimed Medic, followed by prplhz. Town opinion was that Jackal was lying and a bandwagon started, but before that Scum used a votestealing ability to lynch prplhz with Nodes votes.
Jackal, the only remaining Scum, gave up during the night, alone, outed and against 7 Town.

- Analysis:
+ Show Spoiler +The setup was fundamentally Mafia favored, but while scum used their abilities well, they didn´t manage to paint themselves as Townies. Some Townies gave Votepower to Scum, but most of it stayed in the hands of semi-confirmed Townies. The two claims of Scum backfired hard (first outin), because both times they were contested by a much more trusted Townie. All this, combined with a lot of luck, several strong Townies taking a front role and two accurate vigilantes, gave the game to Town. It didn´t matter that this was a no-flip game, acting Townie is still the most important thing Scum has to do in order to win.

Probulous the DT investigated Sheth and pushed for his lynch on day 2. Due to the lack of posters every person who voted ended up voting for Sheth, including Sheth. Thus town only narrowly avoided a no-lynch due to inactivity. That night the mafia shot Jitsu. Just before he died Jistu hinted at something in Gonzaw's filter. Whilst town ignored this and pushed for a CatsnHats or Paperscraps lynch. Then Blurry claimed medic. Due to the setup and the lack of roleblocking all game Probulous pushed a Blurry lynch. In short this was a bad day for town. That night Probulous was shot. The final day paperscraps was lynched and mafia won the game.

- Analysis:
+ Show Spoiler +This was a well played game by mafia that was helped by inactivity and serious derping by town. The win hinged around three things - Witholding the Roleblock
- Inactivity
- The Medic lynch
The setup had options for any combination of medic, DT and roleblocker except for town having both DT and medic without mafia having a roleblocker. By witholding the roleblock for the entire game, mafia lead town to believe there was either a medic or a DT but not both. This ultimately led to the medic being lynched. When blurry claimed right before the lynch Probulous doubted he was telling the truth because he had not seen a roleblock. Probulous pushed for the lynch which sealed the win for mafia as they got both the medic and DT killed in the space of 24hrs. The major blight on the game was inactivity. There were four replacements ina twelve person mini with one of the replacements being modkilled for inactivity. All of them were town, this made it impossible to determine their alignment and let mafia hide by just posting. All in all a well constructed win by mafia aided by some stupid town mistakes and general lack of posting. Analysis linksGreymist - Part 1Greymist - Part 2TunkegProbulous

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Election Mafia was a themed game hosted by Kita and Cyber_Cheese in December 2011. The theme of the game was a daily election in addition to the lynch. Two elected roles were up for election every cycle ranging from Mayor to a Postmaster General. By request, there were four hydras who were included in the player last.
Town looked to start off the game strongly by securing the Mayor and Pardoner roles. Radfield and Arctocod (a Palmar/syllo hydra) appeared to have won the two spots by a landside. However, near the end of the day, the mafia team decided to utilize their Black Mail power, making Arctocod ineligible for election. Curu took advantage of the situation and was elected as the town pardoner.
Mafia blundered night one however shooting Arctocod with a single kp, which was blocked by GreyMisT, the two-shot medic. Arctocod would use this to propel themselves into an elected role on day two. Things really started to go downhill for the scum team when VE suicided himself into bumatlarge, the mafia godfather. Additionally, town turned on their recently elected pardoner and lynched curu.
Lacking in veteran leadership, the scum team was able to make a small victory with a day three mislynch, but lacked the influence to secure any election roles. This proved to be their downfall as Liquid`Sheth, the mafia intern, was shot at night. jaj22 and cascades tried their best to pull out the win, but came up short in the end, resulting in a town victory.

+ Show Spoiler +Mafia - Elephant Hunters Pack Win!
- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +This was a crazy setup with two mafia packs and a godfather who was part of neither. There was also a concurrent day and night phase where actions had to be sent in by the time of the lynch. The game started with a night phase in which Blazinghand and layabout were shot. This made it was crucial for town to find mafia on their first day.
Instead the majority lynch setup was used to coordinate a double lynch on Spiritclown and sinani206. Kenpachi and Mattchew were hunted. This put town at a distinct disadvantage going into Day 2. Probulous lead a lynch on [UoN]Sentinel whilst Palmar lead a lynch on nisani201 which shows how much influence the actual townies had.
That night Probulous and prplhz were shot. Day 3 rose bright and bloody with another double lynch of rgTheShworz and mderg. The night kills were Grackaroni and Lanaia.
This left town in a delicate position which was made a little better when they lynched ghost_403, unfrotunately for them the night kills were Paperscraps and froggynoddy. This left town at LYLO and when Palmar tricked Bluelightz to vote for phagga he clinched the win.
Overall this game was lead by scum from the very beginning and town had little to no chance to recover. Once Palmar was granted confirmed status (why, we are still not sure) he could lead town on wild goose chases killing prominent townies and opposing scum.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Day 1 started with Palmar suggesting a team of 3 town players. When all of them voted in favor and they were supported by a 4th townie, spies had to vocally argue against the team which made it hard for them to hide. This was a big factor in the problem spies had later in the game. Day 1 dragged on for a long time, with town accurately identifying and opposing teams with spies, and spies (and a few unsure townies) opposing all-town teams. One team with a spy almost managed to get sent, but Kitaman nay-voted because he thought it wouldn´t be accepted, and because yay-voting taht team would make him look very bad. Attempts from scum to create WIFOM based on votepatterns, and general scummyness among townies, managed to keep the stalemate for a long time, but didn´t convince enough townies to send a spyteam. After the seventh failed team, the hosts put up a limit on how many votes were allowed before they would end the game in a draw, and so Blazinghand submitted an all town team, which was accepted by all.
Day 2 spies had to get a spy on the team as 4th. Town avoided this by adding Palmar to the successfull team. Spies did their best to prevent this team, their last chance to turn the game around, but failed because of the success of the first mission, and a general idea that town might as well risk sending Palmar and see what happened. Town voted through the all-town team, only spies nay-voted.
Day 3 the game was pretty much over and consisted mostly of people joking around. The day2 team was easily passed again ensuring a flawless town victory.

- Analysis:
+ Show Spoiler +After a solid spy victory in Resistance: London Calling this game showed a solid town victory. The early all-town team resulted in a 4 people town circle which forced scum to expose themselves to stop an initial successfull mission. Spies could not split up the towncircle and had to work together to prevent town sending an all-town team, making them easier to identify as spies. The early town circle was enabled by great reads, solid behavioral analysis and solid vote analysis. After the first vote the game was an uphill battle for spies while the circle slowly but surely won over a crucial 5th townie. On March 07 2012 18:51 Palmar wrote: Scum faced multiple problems this game. I'm not completely certain on how they could've tackled them better. But I think playing more for the long term would've worked better. Blazinghand was already a consideration for a team and due to his high activity he was at least managing to throw dust in my eyes. There's very little scum can do about me figuring out two townies and suggesting them with me, they have to rely on townies being wrong in that situation.
The correct play would've been for kita or chaos to oppose my team, and for blazinghand to align himself with us. Even at the cost of the team succeeding. By this point prplhz was still being lazy, and even though he later became the most obvious townie in the history of obvious townies, he was certainly not an auto-addition even if he supported this team. Getting Blazinghand on and sabotaging day 2 would've at least given scum a fighting chance.
I am not certain, but it might have been a good strategy for scum to start discrediting me hard right from the get-go, put me on the defensive. If you wait until I have shown that my reads are good, you're always going to be fighting from the back-foot. In a setup where no one is ever going to flip, tunneling the most likely townie to cause you trouble is not a bad idea. Once I established my reads and suggested my team, Blazinghand's attempt at discrediting me had no chance of succeeding except maybe convincing the two townies who weren't reading the thread properly.
By the time they allowed us to thoroughly establish the voting blocks by repeatedly suggesting new teams the scum just dug themselves a bigger hole. Kita's posting was uncharacteristically blatant. chaos13 rode the muddy waters along with the scum-aligned-townies, but as soon as VE's sense snapped in it was game over for scum. I think it's an absolutely terrifying position for scum to be in to have aligned themselves all against a strong town voting block. They need to make sure that they're on both sides of the argument.
Talking about town play. It was very rewarding to play in such a good town atmosphere. 4 out of the 6 townies quickly realized what was going on in the thread and continued to vote as a strong block until the game ended. I am no longer impressed by prplhz's strong analytical town play, he's quickly proving to be one of the best town players on TL in my opinion, so I've come to expect great things from him. More pleasantly surprising was Dirkzor's and Navillus's performance this game, they quickly established their innocence and the aligned themselves with the correct faction. Navillus needs to post more to be helpful, but the first step toward being a great townie is to know when to listen and what side to take. You don't have to be right, you just have to agree with the people who are right.
The two townies who didn't manage to figure out the game as fast as the other four might have been at a slight disadvantage from the beginning. Especially comparing a new player like Sentinel to other players like Dirk and Nav is maybe a bit unfair because it's easier for Dirk and Nav to know I'm right since they only have to agree with two reads, while Sentinel would have to accept three reads. That's just a harder thing to do.
VE is probably the most swingy player on TL, at his best he can smash down scum teams, bomb godfathers and has the invaluable ability to look ridiculously town when he is, and at his worst he ignores blatant information in the thread and aligns himself with scum. The latter is the VE that we saw this game. In the opening stages of the game he yayvoted two mafia infested teams, while shooting down two complete townie teams. If VE had shown up in good shape, scum would've been smashed ages ago, and I say this because I know he is capable of better performance than this.
VE's understanding later in the game was the nail in mafia's coffin. And despite him being as completely wrong as he was, he still maintained that ability to look very towny, and thus in a way contributed greatly to our victory.
Overall I'm very pleased with this game. This game is in many ways more rewarding to play than mafia, for both factions. I had a lot of fun and I'm sorry for once again calling everyone dumb, except of course when they were.
I am for the most part happy about my own performance this game. I did get a town team figured out very fast and I pushed it hard, revealing one scum to me in form of BH's ridiculous defense. When I started adding people to my list of townies I was never wrong, ending up with the 5 player block of prplhz, VE, Dirk and Nav.
I am slightly annoyed I didn't manage to convince town more easily. This game is a perfect example of a game where scum screws up a bit, but yet manages to confuse town for a long while because the leaders of town aren't doing a good enough job of convincing people, and part of town is not reading or understanding the thread properly.
Most importantly through, I thoroughly enjoy playing with everyone that played in this game. It made this game one of the more fun experiences I've had in mafia, believe it or not. chaos13 going afk was unfortunate but the game was figured out by then anyway.
Thanks for a good game.
Thanks to prplhz for the drafts of the summary and analysis, and Palmar for his analysis.

+ Show Spoiler +Short summary 1. The redFF lynch was pretty bad all around, the only reason he barely got lynched is the fact that mafia all ganged up on him with the help a few complacent townies. Syllo and VisceraEyes both identified BC right on day 1, but it is often quite hard to lynch someone like that early. That's no excuse for not recognizing the difference between the genuine frustration and desparation by redFF. 2. VisceraEyes did in THIS post point out 3/4 scum members back on day one. This, along with the post where he threatened to shoot the fourth mafia (lol) here, led to VE basically being autoblocked by scum for a while. This turned out to be a good thing though, and led to a decisive victory by him. 3. The decision to Jan redFF was a weird one, but given how many townies failed to realize what was going on it may have worked in scum's favor. I did not understand why they hid that flip. Syllo put it best in this post. Clicky! I sometimes wish people would more often go back and read the shit said by flipped and known to be solid townies. 4. Bugs and Syllo were in a QT during day 2. Mafia had attempted to shoot Kita, but he survived due to hiding. However, syllo also gave Kita a healing potion which Kita discarded. Bugs won the trust of syllo, but this ended up shooting mafia in the foot because syllo claimed and said he gave the pot to kita. This obviously meant that the scum assumed kita had survived because of the pot, and tried to poison him (and missed) the next night. Normally when a townie doesn't die, you either go for someone else, or you roleblock and shoot him the next night (assuming a veteran), however, syllo gave bugs the healing potion on night 2, so scum knew the medic wasn't going to be on kita "again". 5. It is still amazing how easily mafia can just take out key players, and there are no repercussions. It's so weird how no one went truly back and re-read syllo's posts once he flipped town. The prplhz lynch was just... seriously wtf. First, it's obviously incredibly dumb to rely on someone getting modkilled in a game with no activity requirements. While I don't condone the tactics, it's perfectly valid and I'm to be fair more pissed at the townies who actually believed that gamble. The problem for scum was that they went way too far in with that play. 6. Scum in a 12v4 game with 2kp (vanilla) need 4 mislynches to win. The same thing came up this game, and sadly for them, they were unable to ever pull out a fourth mislynch. In hindsight I wonder if it had worked better for them if layabout or BC had aligned themselves against the scum faction, or if they should've just outright bussed RoL who was on the chopping block for a long time. It's hard to say what would've worked, but they needed that 4th mislynch to secure their win, and they never managed to pick it up. 7. The replacements had a very hard time getting into the game and both ended up being fairly detrimental to their faction. Cwave's roleblocks were very wild, and Kurumi shat up the thread with speculation about things like redFF's alignment. It's very hard replacing into games, especially in the later days, so I guess there's not much to do about it really. 8. Kita's claim was very interesting, he flat out lied about having an innocent check on Toad at some point, and he just said whatever he felt like. After a rocky start he was the one hope for town to rally and bring it down, but he failed to convince Cwave in the late-game, at which point his wild claim came back to haunt him, as Cwave was unwilling to think outside the box and stuck to the basics, something I can very much relate to (see closed casket mafia when I was a noob). 9. Just a short note, on day 4 the game could've ended. Scum roleblocked VE for the third night in a row, but had they randomly decided not to, VE would've shot Cwave and killed Kita in the process, and then if Dirk bombed DrH, it'd have ended in a 4v4 scenario with a scum victory. 10. Another note, Kitaman27 had a hidden mechanic where if he hides behind the SK (Bloodthirster) he is recruited and they become a faction. Kita becomes vanilla, but shares a win condition with the SK. So if Kita had randomly decided to hide behind VE on the last day, they would've shared the win.

Oh God, just read the Foolishness post. That is hilarious.

Added Storm Mafia and am now wishing I had made separate posts for each type of Mafia game to make adding new records easier, though I'm sure that would have come with its own problems and difficulties.
And agreed, Foolishness' post was great.

+ Show Spoiler +The mafia played to maximize confusion in this game. On day 1 there were enough town mistakes that the mafia were allowed to establish themselves without drawing much suspicion. After that, the mafia did an excellent job of distancing themselves from one another while maintaining 3 very different styles. This made it so that even after Michaelthe was correctly lynched, the other two mafia were not incriminated by association. Artanis[Xp] put the town in dire straights when he missed his vig shot, wasting the town's only power role. Mementoss was town MVP, displaying a few good cases and good instincts with his reads. However, he failed to rally the town to his read on Nova_Terra, and he second guessed himself. It was a clear Mafia Victory.

+ Show Spoiler +This game started out with trouble for Town. Day 1 Kohbee, the cop, was up for lynch and was forced to claim his role. He narrowly escaped getting lynched, but did little to allay any suspicions that the rest of town had. Night one saw a mistake from KharadBanar, the jailkeeper, as he chose to protect Kohbee. However, now that Kohbee had claimed(and mafia KNEW he was telling the truth), he would certainly get roleblocked by mafia each night. Mafia had no reason to kill Kohbee, as town still felt he was quite suspicious. The Jailing was wasted. Day 2 dawned and Kohbee again was forced to defend himself. The other candidate was Solohan, who much of the town felt was mafia or like to be mafia. However it was Kohbee who was lynched, and with KharadBanar being shot overnight, town quickly found themselves in LYLO with no power roles remaining.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +Newbie Mini Mafia V was a 12 person Power Rangers themed new player game hosted by kitaman27 and EchelonTee in March 2012. Town started off in a rough spot with a no-lynch one day one and a mislynch on day two and three. In addition, their only power role, Sbrubbles the medic, was shot night two. However, they were able to eventually turn things around on day three and four with back to back mafia lynches. As the mafia had no power roles of its own and a medic had already flipped, the remaining mafia blubbdavid was able to come to the assumption that there was no detective and claimed it for himself during final day at 2v1. Town was at an information disadvantage, as they assumed a detective was a likely possibility with a flipped miller. Unfortunately for them, their assumption resulted in a mafia victory.

Hi Dreamflower
Here is the write up from Newbie Mini Mafia XIII. Can you add the QT section to the template? Right now there is nowhere to put them and I find them useful when reading through old games. I have included the ones from this game in the OP/Day/Night section but they can go elsewhere.
On a completely separate note, do you know if anyone is doing a stats section on these?
Love your work

+ Show Spoiler +Town got screwed because they never established a set of "confirmed" townies. No-one is ever 100% confirmed but you were all suspecting each other all game long which meant mafia could easily blend in. Inactivity in the mid-end game made you focus on those posting and that lead to far too many mis-lynches. I think everyone town aligned needs to focus on establishing their innocence first. Playing "games" with people just leads to confusion and an easy ride for mafia

I am updating some of the newbie games that don't have records. Will edit them into this post and let you know when they are done. I have a hint that a 3/8 or 3/9 setup is imbalanced on this forum because so far out of 20 games only 2 have been won by town. Once these records are up to date I will have a better idea of whether this is true or not.

Also, everyone please welcome Probulous, the newest addition to the TL Mafia Librarians! After all the hard work he's done and the excellent contributions he's made, particularly to the Newbie Games section, I think he fully deserves access to the deepest, darkest vaults of the Mafia Library's mysteries and secrets, not to mention being able to contribute directly to the Library. With his help, we hopefully will be able to maintain this excellent resource of TL Mafia for a long time to come.

- Summary:
+ Show Spoiler +The selection phase didn't yield a lot of content for scum hunting but with both roleblocker and framer being pushed heavily, it would give town a really good list check for later in the game. Day1 ended up in the mislynch of Navillus mainly because he didn't have any posts during day1. Night1 was relatively quiet with most activity centered around Kurumi falsely hinting that he was a vigilante or wanting the vigilante to shoot prplhz. At the end up night1, Toadesstern made a big case on prplhz but it never took off and instead made Radfield suspicious of Toadesstern and Toadesstern ended up flipping scum on day2. Day3 was relatively slow with overwhelming support for a risk.nuke lynch. risk.nuke ended up flipping town which put town in a MYLO situation on day4. At this point the remaining two scum resigned in face of overwhelming suspicion on both of them.
- Role List:
+ Show Spoiler +Roles and ActionsTracker tracked Sbrubbles on night1, risk.nuke on day2, and Kurumi on day3 but none of them did anything.
- Analysis:
+ Show Spoiler +Both players and host/cohost gave their thoughts on the game after endgame. Link. These are just my (prplhz') thoughts, influenced by what happened after endgame It was generally agreed that town played well. There was lots of analysis and hardly any one liners or name caling which made for a good scum hunting environment. The scum team was hampered by lack of communication and one of the first time scum was also affected by the stresses of being scum. Radfield's case on Toadesstern (link) stands out as one of the best pieces of analysis in the game but there was a lot of great analysis. In the selection phase town ended up not knowing which role they gave to scum because the vote was split between roleblocker and framer. This ended up being a very powerful list check later on as people started to flip. Scum ended up giving town a tracker and an innocent child. It was generally agreed that these were good roles to give to town. Another possibility would be to take out one of the roles and put in a 2-shot vigilante instead, forcing a faster end to the game but this could be devastating for scum in the hands of a good vigilante. 1-shot cop would essentially confirm himself and someone else by claiming on day2 and medic was also very powerful. The day1 mislynch of Navillus was a classic day1 mislynch of a guy who wasn't putting in all too much effort. He only had two small posts during day1 when he came under scrutiny and that didn't change much before he was lynched. With two of the most prominent names in the game pushing him, it wasn't even scum influenced. The night1 hit of wherebugsgo happened because he was getting suspicious of the scum while he was a framer voter. I think that shooting Radfield would have been a lot better and that scum should never shoot anybody because they're worried about list checks that aren't real list checks. They should just have shot the best town player who was putting in the most effort and that was very clearly Radfield. If they for some reason wasn't worried about Radfield then they should have shot into someone they thought was blue (they considered shooting slOosh who happened to be the innocent child but decided against it). In the beginning of day2, Radfield made his big case on Toadesstern. This was a really uphill struggle for scum if they wanted to save Toadesstern and in the end they decided to hammer him. There isn't a whole lot that scum can do when one of their ranks is nailed by Radfield but there was some postgame discussion about how they might have saved him but lacked the communication. In the end he was lynched with only one scum vote (the hammer) on him so it was probably not possible for him to avoid getting lynched. The other lynch candidate for the day was risk.nuke who was lynched the next day and I think that if scum had tried full force to switch the lynch to risk.nuke, they'd be in the exact same situation on day4 as they ended up in. It just sucks for scum when they're figured out. Night2 Radfield was predictably shot which more or less confirmed to town that town had a tracker and an innocent child. Day3 was a slow day with overwhelming support for a risk.nuke lynch. risk.nuke had not been playing up to his potential and had pretty much given up on defending himself. This wasn't a great lynch and town should have discussed a lot more, especially once it was clear that no one was against the lynch. Night3 scum hit Zephirdd in an attempt to hit a blue. Zephirdd had "blueslipped" on day1 and this was noted by town and mafia alike but he didn't flip blue putting scum in an even position at the next day MYLO. Zephirdd had already claimed that he wasn't blue and he hadn't blueslipped and being one of the more flip floppy players in the game and having had some scrutiny on him already that was only removed by how he had "blueslipped", scum should maybe have shot into slOosh this night as he was looked strong and also possibly blue. Day4 slOosh outed himself as the innocent child and would be unanimously elected mayor (the poison for the day). He wanted to lynch Sbrubbles (since day1) and additionally a few other townies were correctly pointing out that they thought that Sbrubbles and talismania were the last scum. At this point scum forfeited. The poisons weren't an issue for town in this game. During the selection phase a general order that they poisons should be picked in was drafted and this was followed to the end and at no point did the poisons actually influence the game and after the selection phase they were hardly discussed anymore and were generally passed unanimously.
Inspired by Probulous' hard work I just wrote all this and then my computer crashed and I was like + Show Spoiler + but then when I restore my chrome tabs it's all there. Woohoo!

+ Show Spoiler +After a typical Day 1, Golbat the vigilante was lynched. Night 1, Ange777 pulled off a hero save, keeping the mafia team from killing off Keirathi, one of the masons in the game. During Day 2, a power vacuum emerged in the game, which Alan133 took advantage of to execute a bluesnipe by leading the town to lynch Promethelax, a maneuver which the town never managed to punish the mafia team for. After a second try, the mafia managed to nightkill Keirathi, confirming his mason buddy Shady Sands as town. The town spent the first half of Day 3 pushing the lynch of JingleHell, before Ange777 convinced the town to lynch Zorkmid instead. Due to disorganization on the part of the mafia team and the timing of the voteswitch, the mafia member didn't have enough time to perform a proper bus, and DarthPunk and Alan133 were lynched the following two days.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question, but does anyone know of a good place\any good resources to read up on hosting a RL mafia game? Like suggestions for different gametypes that work well IRL depending on how many people there are\ different tips\i dont know. I love Mafia on forums but they consume so much time and have tried a few very 'unprofessional' mafia games irl where pretty much everyone had never played before\ had no idea what was going on. Would like to maybe look into starting to hosting a biweekly real life mafia game or something like that but not sure where I can read up on tips to doing so?

When I run games IRL, I like the latest "newbie game setup" that they use at mafiascum.net. Before they had this, I used to run a variation on this without the jailkeeper (didn't realize how newbie-game-friendly of a role jailkeeper was before)
The mafia roles are fixed, the town roles are "Pick 2 randomly out of these four possibilities: Cop, Doctor, Jailkeeper, Villager"
http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=2of4
Hand out roles with a deck of cards: Example: 2-10 of diamonds = Vanilla townie
J of Hearts = Jailkeeper Q of Hearts = Doctor K of Hearts = Cop
K of Spades = Mafia Role-Cop 2-10 of Spades = Mafia Goon
Pass out cards face down at the beginning of the game, it is helpful to have posted up somewhere what all the roles are. Have everyone spend at least 20 seconds confirming what role they are and what they do (EVERYONE) If you're extra nerdy like me (My irl friends and I are all gamers of the non-computer variety), you have made your own set of mafia "cards" for this, using CCG opaque-backed sleeves which explain the role, but you can just have a few cheat sheets to pass around or a whiteboard to write them up where everyone can see them.
I pass the cards out and have everyone stare intently at their cards for an excessive period (15 seconds or so) of time before they place them face down. (It's mildly important for people to look intently, so that people with power roles can confirm themselves and you don't give people power-role reads based on "well you took longer than 1 second to look at your card")
During the day, voting is done by clearly pointing (and remaining that way) at a person. Everyone must vote by the time limit (make sure you give them warnings that the time limit is approaching.) they cannot vote for themselves, but they can vote no lynch by crossing their arms. A tied vote goes to the player who had the final vote cast against them earlier. It helps if you announce counts of the high vote targets whenever you remind people about the time limit.
Night modding is where the real mod work is: Remember that IRL, meta-information like "I heard/felt him move when you were calling for mafia to open their eyes" is very real. Do your best to minimize the opportunity for it (don't crowd people too close together), but acknowledge that it will be part of the game.
Step 0 - decide to face a SINGLE direction at night. Don't look at whoever is raising their head.
Pregame (Night) 0 - Have everyone close their eyes and bow their head. (covering ones eyes with hands can be too much movement) - Call for mafia to open their eyes to see their team, give them some time to communicate with nodding/looking at people, then have them go back to sleep. - no night actions, nothing else to do night 0 (I do day start every game.)
For night actions, it is generally better to avoid making people point with their hands (re: movement information) and instead indicating with their eyes (and you confirming silently)
Night 1 - First, call the jailkeeper (whether or not it exists this game) to jail someone (since it's a roleblock, it needs to happen first). If the person who he blocks tries to take an action, you will give them an X symbol (with a card or your hands) to indicate they have been roleblocked.
Then call the other roles in a predetermined order, have them perform their action, and have them put their heads back down. Cop - gets a yes (nod) for scum and a no (shake head) for townie. Doctor - simply confirm their target.
Mafia night actions - call the mafia to look up, have them agree on a kill (they can again communicate by nodding/glancing.) and after you confirm the kill target, then ask the Mafia rolecop to pick a target for investigation. Mafia - confirm kill target Mafia cop - flash a card to indicate role of the target - 2 of diamonds, jack, queen, or king for the appropriate power roles.
I like the 2 of 4 gametype because I'm not a huge fan of fully open (all roles known) setups, but its a compact setup which is easy to randomly choose just by shuffling 4 cards together and picking two. It works well with the number of people I get to join my games (I have a hard time getting more than 10 players, but if I do get 12-13 players I do a similar setup with 3 mafia and 3-of-5 blue power roles, adding in a witch (1 potion of life, 1 potion of death - 1/game doctor + 1/game vigilante) to the possible town-favored roles. I pretty much just don't like getting 11 players.
|
If you have many more players than this, anything with a "normal" game setup (avoid the really weird roles which can be hard to moderate in flesh-and-blood games) is probably good. Just keep with the general theme of pregame setup if you're using a deck of cards (red/black for good/bad, numbers = normal role, facecard = power role)
Remember flesh-and-blood games can be much more swingy as examination of what players are doing is more difficult, but many players end up giving tells through failure to keep a poker face or excessive night movement.

I was thinking of a way to run parallel mafia IRL and I think I have figured it out. Basically it is the exact same as what was listed above, except there are 2 rooms and when someone is swapped they are unceremoniously bound and gagged and thrown into the next room.

I whole-heartedly approve, if of course you cannot spring for portal gun technology.

Considering this hasn't been touched in nearly two years, I'll try and update the OP with some more recent links. If you can think of any guides, entertainment, or discussion threads that should be included, let me know!

This thread has been long overdue for an update as most of these sections haven't been touched since 2011 or 2012. I finally got around to updating things to include content from the past 3-4 years. I re-ordered a few of the sections and separated the discussion threads from the community related threads. I also replaced the obsolete game record section with a link to the mafia database. Any of the summaries that people wrote for some of the older games have been added to the database as well. In addition, I have added the results for the yearly mafia awards and refreshed the guides section with some of the more recent analysis posts.
I'll try to keep this a bit more up to date now that things have been updated. I'm sure I missed a bunch of good stuff so let me know if you'd like anything to get added. The post-game analysis section would be especially nice to have more examples of since its a shame to have any of those get forgotten. I'm also open to any suggestions for reorganizing things. I moved a few things around, but it's still a bit messy.

I used to play in college 2-3 nights a week with a big group of friends. I wish we had made specific cards!

I use playing cards or some Mafia cards I bought off of Amazon (some of the roles are ass tho). 2-3 nights is a lot of games!
