The Blizzard Classic Cup needed captains… so we called in the legends. Welcome back,
@CallMeTasteless and @Artosis
. The iconic duo returns for legendary calls and unforgettable moments at BlizzCon 2026. More details on the Blizzard Classic Cup coming soon
Something atleast, was hoping for more

I personally think that's awesome. I love Tastosis and I think they would make good / entertaining team captains for a player draft. If Rogue is there I will expect Artosis to pick him first 😂 👍

Interesting—are they gonna pick players for a cross-game competition? (War3, SC1, SC2, War2??)

My understanding is that it will be warcraft 3, SCBW, SC2, and Heroes of the Storm

Not sure if good or bad. It really depends on what the Classic Cup actually is...

If that's the case, I wonder why they didn't do something like Grubby vs Tastosis as captains or something of the sort. Maybe there's more to come
Incidentally, my YouTube algo serves me up War2 content sometimes and it seems like both an amazing and horrendous PvP game (much like all the RTS we love).

Grubby vs Artosis vs Rotti vs Khaldor!

This is a custom mod tournament called OverHeroes of the WoW HearthStar. The initial 3-4 mins of boring base-building, scouting, and hero selection is done via a custom Hearthstone mini game, which then turns into a 5 v 5 RTS in which all macro serves to level up your hero, which can be controlled in either first or third person view, played on maps with mirrored classic WoW raid bosses and loot drops. All mechanics, UX, and AI behavior operate with Broodwar rules unless you level up your “better design” attribute (J/K Day9, chill…).

Honestly, I am in. Sounds hella interesting

Sorry for the offtopic, but I honestly wonder how many SC2-fans know how important Khaldor is not only for the Heroes-scene today, but especially for the german WC3-scene of old? Because, no offense to him, if you take that list from a SC2 standpoint, he looks hilariously out of place

Quite good but I think it might be arguably the worst RTS for a spectator showcase. Not to mention so much would be missed without a top level player being able to point out the infinite nuances the game has.
Haven't checked out any casts but I'd assume the pool of coherently loquacious, interesting, and knowledgeable casters is extraordinarily small.
Makes me chuckle thinking back on how much time I actually put in that game. Think my highest bnet account finished with about 21000 games on it. Never did comps and had quite a few smurfs/alts. Not to mention the amount of games I played on Kali and ngage is probably staggering as well from the pre bnet days.
Anyway classic cup doesn't really interest me, especially after hearing about the captains, just means it's some type of showmatch exhibition. Happy vs forti or Clem vs hero in any random weekly/tournament would have more draw for me than watching potential lower level games. To make that type of thing work you'd need someone like MC to actually be an entertainer as well. Maybe it's just not for me but I also can't think of anything at the moment that would pique my interest for it.

Hopefully they have some interesting matchups between players in the seperate games they are good at, rather than mixing and matching different players from different games and having meme matches.
I'd love to watch Serral vs Maru, or Serral vs Clem in SC2, then JD vs Flash, Effort vs Flash, Soulkey vs Flash, or Bisu vs Flash etc in BW for example. Not sure who are the best wc3 players atm but the equivalent would be interesting in that as well.
Any type of cross over gameplay would immidiately not interest me. Or (even worse), FFA's and team games.

2v2 could be a good format, with one player serving as the main and the other from a different game. Maps may not be that good for this, though. Also depends heavily on how many games they will be playing per game. More maps played in SC2/BW allow for more variety in format without being too silly. This kind of event becomes a failure if it should be replaced with Bo1/3 in SC2, BW, and WC3. It would highlight how each game actually needs its own tournaments to work well, and a lack of commitment to the individual games. Especially this would be funny if something like an SC shooter gets revealed.

I wonder if the audience for this is exclusively oldheads or if they're going to try and bring new fresh eyes to this.

I'd love to see WoL, HoTS, LoTV matches too. Nestea vs MVP, Zest vs Innovation, etc.
