i think the first deus ex was the best single player game ever made. it's the only time i've felt like i could chose what happened, not just pick my choices from a list of options and i think it showed that games could be more than just action.

EDIT: all they need to do, is make it more like DX1 than DX2 and it's an instant classic. For example bring back the hit locater system, where different parts of your body have their own hitpoints. Also make a mother fucking multiplayer christ.

I didn't think Invisible War was bad, if you kind of look at it as a side game or something rather than a full game like it was supposed to be. I definitely agree it should of been way better. + Show Spoiler + My biggest gripe with DX2 was they let a wimp like Alex have the option to kill JC. They should of made JC tough as hell.

I actually really liked the DX1 multiplayer, except for the servers that had augmentations on. It had some flaws though. You could actually see and track a snipers bullet coming at you and dodge it, but overall it was pretty nice. DX2 had a multiplayer mod. I might be tempted to try it now :o

Final Fantasy developer Square Enix is helping out Eidos Montreal with Deus Ex 3, it was revealed today. Specifically, Square Enix is helping Eidos to develop the cutscenes and in-game cinematics. While it may seem like an unusual partnership, Square Enix is apparently very proud to be working on the Deus Ex franchise and is keen to help Eidos on other IPs that are in production - Thief 4 in particular. "The people in Tokyo are just so glad to work on it," said Eidos' Stephane D'Astous in a comment to Edge. "This is the first project for them that's a non-Final Fantasy title--they even want to work on Thief 4 too." Square Enix bought out the UK-based Eidos earlier this year after the company fell on hard times and started looking for buy-out offers. While EA and Ubisoft were other contenders for the ownership of the Deus Ex, Thief and Tomb Raider franchises that Eidos owns, it was Square that closed the deal in the end. News on Deus Ex 3 itself has been slow over the past few months, with an expect 2009 release date silently sliding out of sight while Eidos continues to work on the title. It has been confirmed that the game is a cyberpunk prequel to the first game though and that it won't be getting a console release due to the complexity of the game. Source A PC exclusive. With all the multiplatform games today, and the so called dying of the PC gaming. I'm really excited to see how this is going to unfold.

I agree. This can only be good. We won't see the gimp, consolized interface we were treated to in Deus Ex 2.

That entirely depends on the level of Square Enix's involvement. To be honest, I'm kind of surprised that Eidos decided to go to SE about the cutscenes. While their cinematic work is undeniably good, it doesn't really feel that their style matches that of the DE universe. Given that neither Warren Spector nor Harvey Smith are working on the project, this is quite possible, though I'll reserve judgement till after release.

My main grief is mostly auto heal. But don't get me wrong, if i'm still following the developement it's because at the same time there are some really good decisions and good work. Some of the artwork made so far looks great, there are still rumours of A.Brandon composing the music, different ammo types like in Dx and way more. And now i'm quite laughing. Again they manage to do something great ( PC exclusive ) and mmmhh .... something not so great at the same time ( Square cinematics )... If this game isn't total bs i'm 200% buying it because nowadays if we want great games, especially this kind of hybrids, it has to be PC exclusive and we have to support it. Just for the controls / map size ... console hardware and gamers can't handle it and i DO not want another overhyped game like Bioshock with a dumbed down gameplay because of the mentally challenged console kids ( Bioshock is really sucky compared to Dx / SS2 ). I just hope that the Square guys will only help for "technical issues" i don't want them to have influence on the artistic direction. I lurk here btw: http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=252 edit: This kind of artwork gives me some good vibes for example. ![]()

The text ruzzar quoted actually says "It has been confirmed that the game is a cyberpunk prequel to the first game though and Eidos has previously hinted that it might not be getting a console release due to the complexity of the game." but he changed "it might not" to "it won't be" Not sure why he called it confirmed, or changed that text when he gave the source showing otherwise... http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2009/11/25/deus-ex-3-is-eidos-and-square-enix-joint-ef/1 http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55483 I really doubt we will ever see a big budget pc exclusive fps again, consoles bring in so many more sales, it just doesn't make sense. Even the original was ported to the ps2, I don't think it should be a concern.

Its sad, because there has been an almost unanimous public dissatisfaction with the direction the game is heading in. And as a response, all the dues ex fans have got is a "bad luck, deal with it"

But i really want to see a video of the gameplay.
