Hello TL! At the close of Cosmonarchy's latest tourney, Acropolis #3, we had pro player Sziky join us for a showmatch before the finals. It went the distance too, some really fun games! You can watch it here.
Our community liked it so much that some of our prize winners from the tourney gave their prize money back to sponsor more showmatches with pros, so this thread will be used to announce current and future showmatches!
If you want to learn more about Cosmonarchy, you should know that it's a massive Starcraft 1 conversion, and that it changes a lot about the base game -- aiming for slightly longer average game times, noticeably larger armies, and much more compositional diversity, with an average of 50 units per race!

We have a bevy of SC1 maps ported to Cosmonarchy, and will be using those for this showmatch.

Our first all-pro showmatch was a great success! We had 7 exciting ZvP matches, with a great mix of short, medium, and long games on a variety of new and old maps. OyA surprised by picking Cosmonarchy-original maps, while Sziky exclusively picked Brood War map ports like Luna, Neo Rush Hour, and Blue Storm!

Since organizing this first showmatch, we've had a lot of interest from more pros, including Bonyth, Hawk, and UltrA! Depending on pro availability and turnout during the month of August, and our own crowdfunding goals, we could have 3-player KOTH groups like the old Ascension style format, where the winner stays on and the challenger picks the maps. That way we can look at all 3 races in their newfound glory.
I'm away on vacation for a few weeks, but I'll be back with more news come the first of August. If you have any suggestions for pros, formats, maps, and so on, drop a comment!

Showmatch #2 is over! Bonyth & UltrA debuted as expected, but with Hawk being a no-show, Sziky stepped in to keep things rocking and rolling. Expectations were all over the place (twitch gamba was outrageous!) and we had a blast seeing just how much these pros had learned in such a short time.
Showmatch #3 is over! WolFix had a rocky debut at first, but all the chatter and advice from players like Art_Of_Turtle ended up giving some surprising matches later on in the set! OyA looked like a proper professional, and Sziky's map control was truly something to marvel at.
Eagerly awaiting next week's showmatch between SC2 pros! In the meantime, we are kicking off our biweekly cups with cash prizes to the top 4, starting tomorrow at 12pm EDT -- and we might even have some SC1 pros playing there, too! Showmatches #4 and #5 are in the books! We had a great time welcoming SC2 pros trigger, YoungYakov, and HonMonO, with the South Korean Terran player taking the lion's share of the matches! Then, we had the massive debut of Dewalt to take on Bonyth in a nine-game series.

Our next showmatch will be uThermal vs Indy in a nine-game TvP series. The date is still being worked out, but we're looking forward to it in early October!
