Since this could be seen as remotely related to what we do over here:
Judging by the levels of activity in the Hearthstone section I suppose this won't catch anyone's attention, but for me personally this looks just like a desperation move.
Haven't played the game in a while, found the removal of the classic mode super stupid and frankly don't really care, just found it interesting how Blizzard actively chose to not even mention StarCraft in recent years' BlizzCons, but just NOW they introduce a crossover they should've done 8 years ago, when both games where actually healthy.

I used to be heavily invested in Hearthstone as well. I left a few years ago, mainly because the design issues where the game was not build for longevity caught up to them, and the band-aids rubbed me the wrong way. At one point, I had 3 versions of the same card which worked in different modes.
And of course the predatory monetation model. 80€ for the expansion bundles is simply way too much for that kind of game, and being forced grind 30-90 min. a day to stay on top of the cards was not fun anymore.
Bringing SC characters into that game seems super weird. Did they really run out of Warcraft-ish things to make cards about?
I stopped playing HS in 2020, but as someone who was really into custom hearthstone cards for a few years I always thought these kinds of crossovers were way too cheesy. Plus, amateur custom card creators would attempt it all the time. I'm honestly kind of surprised to see this - the integration of Diablo into BG already felt like it was pushing it and that was one hero out of dozens in one gamemode (though in the end it kind of worked for me).

Man, as cheesy as it is, it does seem to be the industry standard now with crossovers being everywhere in Magic the gathering. The Final Fantasy collab with MTG was the most succesful set in MTG's 30 year history.

Calling it an industry standard when 1 game does it once and another has created a horrific reputation for itself by focusing so heavily on this seems...hyperbolic.
Yugioh, Pokemon, One Piece, Lorcana, StarWars, etc. have all avoided crossovers and likely will continue to do so for quite some time.

Well they are the industry leaders but I think you're right I'll have to move the goalposts.
Lorcana I think would be inherently in the same vein, but thats the entire premise from Day 1. YuGiOh apparently had some collabs but they're promotion one-offs instead of like an entire miniset/set. Including a nike collab very recently. https://www.swoosh.nike/drops/nike-air-max-95-qs-ygo-joey (I've never been on a shoe website before, this looks so fresh!)
MaxilliumDood had a video about this a few years ago, stating that weird collabs/crossovers was a fighting game thing, but now its in a lot of places like CoD/Fortnite/Diablo/Overwatch.
