Weekly Cup Competitions Week of March 9 - March 15The second week of March was a relative return to normalcy after the string of upsets in the previous week, with Clem and herO taking two of the three 1v1 cups. However, there were still some surprises sprinkled throughout the brackets, and it was encouraging to see ByuN continue to build momentum by taking a cup win for the second straight week.
Outside the usual weeklies, we saw the GSL resume in an unusual way with a $1000 showmatch, pitting Korea's top players against each other in a captain's draft-style event. Also, uThermal's 2v2 cups saw Serral pick up his first team competition win alongside new partner Trigger.

March 9: Monday Night Weeklies #43

With WardiTV "Mondays" being pushed back a day, Monday Night Weeklies kicked off the week of competition. With MaxPax getting eliminated early due to PvP losses to ShoWTimE and Krystianer, first place ended up being contested by powerhouse duo of Clem and herO.
Although Clem managed to take a 2-1 win against herO in the winners' final, herO rallied from the lower bracket to take a 2-1, 2-0 victory in the grand finals. Overall, the two played the standard-ish TvP's we've become accustomed to seeing in their duels (with perhaps a slightly aggressive bent from herO), with both players capable of making the match-up look imbalanced in their best wins (VOD (part 1) - Part 2).
Third place Krystianer also deserves a shoutout, scoring upsets against MaxPax, Cure, and ShoWTimE in an impressive run.

March 10: WardiTV Mondays #77

WardiTV Tuesday almost gave Clem a chance to get revenge on herO in the finals, but ShoWTimE disrupted the rivalry by taking out herO 2-1 in the semifinals (the series was an inverted cheese sandwich—a piece of macro bread between two slices of cheese).
Unfortunately for ShoWTimE, he ended up recording his seventh straight series loss to Clem in the finals, surrendering a 1-3 defeat. The series was surprisingly quick considering the two players' styles, with early/mid-game aggression being the deciding factor (VOD).

March 10: PiGosaur Cup #72
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/pig072.png)
After being halted by ShoWTimE in MNW and Clem in WardiTV Mondays, ByuN got over the PvT hump to win PiGosaur Cup #72. He did so in impressive fashion, taking a 3-2 victory over herO in straight-up games (VOD). Now that ByuN has disrupted the Clem-MaxPax-herO monopoly for the second week in a row, it might be time to get cautiously optimistic about a Solar-esque surge from the mercurial Terran.

March 11: GSL CK #1 - Team Maru vs Team herO
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/gslck1.png)
The GSL has 'returned' in a most unexpected manner, launching a series of captain's draft-style team showmatches with a mixture of Proleague and all-kill formats.
The first such match featured Team Maru going up against Team herO, with Team Maru narrowly winning after thanks to their captain's win in the super ace match. However, the real star of the night was still Classic, who earned an all-kill for team herO in match #2 with wins over Maru, Creator, Solar, ByuN, and Cure (VOD).

March 14: uThermal 2v2 Circuit 2026 - Bonus Cup #5
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/thermy2v2_2026_bonus5.png)
The constant shuffling of teams saw Serral get his first ever win in the uThermal 2v2 tour, thanks to some help from his more experienced 2v2 partner in Trigger. uThermal himself enjoyed success after joining forces with a new partner in ShoWTimE, but was ultimately stopped by the Finnish-Canadian alliance in the finals (VOD (first person view)).
Incidentally, uThermal and Serral had previously teamed up in the March 2v2 cup, only to be eliminated in the bottom half of the standings. Now, we know whose fault it definitely was.
