GMarshal's Public Profile:
The measure of a terrible day is when you go to bed thinking "man, I wish the zombie apocalypse would start already"
"I will not be stopped. Not by you, or the Confederates, or the Protoss, or anyone. I will rule this sector or see it burnt to ashes around me!"
Arcturus Mengsk
"It's too late. You've awakened the gazebo.
It catches you and eats you."
"As to my own part, having turned my thoughts for many years upon this important subject, and maturely weighed the several schemes of other projectors, I have always found them grossly mistaken in the computation. It is true, a child just dropped from its dam may be supported by her milk for a solar year, with little other nourishment; at most not above the value of 2s., which the mother may certainly get, or the value in scraps, by her lawful occupation of begging; and it is exactly at one year old that I propose to provide for them in such a manner as instead of being a charge upon their parents or the parish, or wanting food and raiment for the rest of their lives, they shall on the contrary contribute to the feeding, and partly to the clothing, of many thousands."
~Johnathan Swift
"Mahound is in his paradise above the evening star,
(Don John of Austria is going to the war.)
He moves a mighty turban on the timeless houri's knees,
His turban that is woven of the sunsets and the seas.
He shakes the peacock gardens as he rises from his ease,
And he strides among the tree-tops and is taller than the trees;
And his voice through all the garden is a thunder sent to bring
Black Azrael and Ariel and Ammon on the wing.
Giants and the Genii,
Multiplex of wing and eye,
Whose strong obedience broke the sky
When Solomon was king."
~Chesterton

"Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." Macbeth (Act V, Scene V).
Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.
C. S. Lewis

I was with my wife for 6 months before she left and moved to the other side of the world, perhaps never to meet again. That was ten and a half years ago. Life should not be measured by pleasure and pain. Life is experience, and chapters. Your chapter may be 3 months or a lifetime, you don't know. But the only way to find out is to open it.
Better to have a life of many chapters than none at all.

I just had a dream where GMarshal drunk-banned me for 30 days because I was posting numbers or something (remember, dreams don't make sense). I PM'd him encouraging him to rethink his decision and to stop drinking, but I got no response. I decided to go to his house to talk with him personally... and for some reason, he lived in some catacombs infested with zombies that I had to fight my way through. I finally got to his house (which was like this cute little cottage in the middle of a friggin' crypt), and one of the ponies from MLP is standing guard. She lunged at me with a flying kick. I blocked it, got ready for a kick of my own...
And then my alarm went off and I woke up. Sick. At least I got to write down everything that happened before I forgot.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, and die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
