ZeuS - Jun Tae Kyu - 전태규 Race: Protoss Birthdate: 13/02/1983 Current Team: Ongamenet Sparkyz Former Team(s): Korea E-sports Team (KOR) Nicknames: Sense Toss Trademark: Cool ceremonies Achivements Stout MSL - 3rd Pace NHN Hangame OSL - 2nd Place Sky Proleague 2005 - 3rd Place (KOR) 2nd KeSPA Cup - 2nd Place (Ongamenet Sparkyz) Bio Zeus is one of the original Protosses of professional gaming, and consequently is one of the older players in today's leagues. His strength lies in PvT, but originally found PvZ easier. He also is a fan of open center maps (like Luna). During his schooling he was given many nicknames, two of note are "Psycho" and "Rascal". Zeus quickly found starcraft success and from humble beginnings joined up with KOR. Zeus, along with SC_Side, carried KOR through KTF Ever Proleague and into OGN Neowiz Pmang Proleague.
Zeus made his move on the scene in April 2003. In Stout MSL, Zeus tore through the competition ending up 3rd after losing to Nal_ra then Nada. He also became synonymous with his awesome ceremonies during this time. The fans loved it, and Zeus became one of the most feared Protoss users as well as one of the most loved.
Following up from his success in Stout, Zeus moved onto the NHN Hangame OSL. Here, Zeus did remarkably well and won many fans along the way. Zeus defeated Silent_Control 3-0 but could not take on Nal_ra - losing 1-3. Zeus reached peak success about this time and was considered one of the greatest protoss of his era; along with Kingdom, Reach and Nal_ra. During this time he became the Ace for KOR.
Sadly, after NHN Hangame, Zeus slumped badly. Losing in both OSL (loss to iloveoov in the Quarter of Gillette OSL and failing to qualify for Ever 1 OSL) and MSL (0-2 in Trigem MSL and failing to qualify for Hanafos CENGAME MSL). Zeus himself has said that this was the most difficult time of his career. His position of Ace in KOR was given to Cloud and CaSy. Struggling to find form through 2004-2005 he did manage to aid KOR in achieving third place in Sky Proleague 2005. In 2006 Zeus was selected for the Mystery Map Invitational to play for team Asia, and was demolished by ToT)Mondragon( 3-0.
Following MBC's and CJ's sponsoring of Proteams, OGN followed suit sponsoring KOR. Thus, Ongamenet Sparkyz were born, with zeus as a critical component of the team. For the new year, each member of Sparkyz announced their resolutions for the forthcoming year on "G-People" which screened on OGN. While the rest of the team gave the expected "Do better in the leagues", Win OSL" and the like, Zeus gave a different and more insightful resolution. In the words of SuperJongMan;
He said no matter what, the death of a gamer is not when he cannot win or secure titles, but rather, when a gamer no longer has an impact in things. Zeus had felt that his 2 year slump was pitiful and weak. It's almost as if he had to re-adjust from becoming top tier to a bottom rung protoss. Still, during that episode, Zeus vowed to become an "impact gamer" Zeus has followed through with this resolution and become an impact gamer for Sparkyz as their leading 2v2 specialist.
Currently, Zeus has become almost exclusively a 2v2 player. The Yellow[name]/Zeus duo is considered one of the top 2v2 teams alongside KHAN's team Sigamari/TT. Zeus plays the dominant role in the 2v2 team and usually decides which strategies to use.

Guillaume "X'Ds~Grrrr..." Patry Nicks: PlayGrrrr..., GiYoM, The~Insane~Frog Date of Birth: Jun. 19, 1982 Nationality: Canada Team: Retired Former Teams: Hexatron
Achievements: Third place at the AMD Professional Gamers League Season 3 championships under the screen name "The~Insane~Frog" Winner of the Spring 1999 AMD Professional Gamers League StarCraft tournament over SOSO Winner of the Battle.net StarCraft: Brood War Tournament World Championships 1999 over [B_Blade]Leader Winner of the Hanaro Communication Tooniverse Starleague 1999-2000 over H.O.T-Forever Winner of the OGN King Of Kings tournament 2001 over TheBoy 3rd place at Hanbitsoft April - June 2001 over Kingdom 3rd place World Cyber Games 2003 over Silent_Control
After dominating the first few online leagues arranged by Blizzard and AMD Professional Gamers League, Guillaume "X'Ds~Grrrr..." Patry turned his eyes to Seoul, South Korea, the perfect place for a progamer. Guillaume moved to S.Korea in the year 2000, and became an icon of Starcraft. He was the only foreigner in there at the time and was basically rolling over any obstacle. Patry never actually was a hard training player, more of a clever one who understood how the game works and used his strategic insight to win games. Over the years Reaver drops as well as his tendency to perform "gasrush" became Guillaume's trademark-strategies. As his era was before the time of flawless game mechanics, the upcoming players started to crush and dominate him by simply training more than him as well as the new Replay-feature, that came out with the 1.08a patch, ruptured his superior strategies. The biggest trouble for Guillaume became some SlayerS `BoxeR`. Patry used hotkeys very little by only controlling his units with them and leaving the buildings be, thinking useless hotkeyspamming was useless. Although the period of his dominance and success all in all in Korea was very short, he left a big mark on the progaming scene. He was the most innovative Protoss player of his time and his achievements in creating new strategies for the race can easily be compared to what boxer gave to Terrans. His favorite matchup was PvZ, and he gave an insight of his strategies in an interview done by SCLegacy in 2001. "My favorite match up is Protoss vs Zerg. I don't mean that I win PvZ all the time, but I mean that I like to play it. What I like to do against a 3 hatch hydra user is a simple zealot rush with fast gas, then stop making zealots after 5, tech quickly to templars and possibly expand even before my templar archives is done. Then I get psi storm/archons and zealot speed. I really like to get fast templar and fast expansion, and it's the best way. It works best at 12:00 on lost temple." At the time the interview was done, Guillaume had cut playing Brood War to 20 hours a week and he had started to get interested in other things in life. Soon after our most shining foreign star started to fade only to come and take his third place at WCG 2003.

Sigamari a.k.a Zerglee - Lee Chang Hoon - 이창훈 Race: Zerg Birthdate: 04/11/1984 Current Team: Samsung KHAN Former Team(s): Orion, SK Telecom T1 Nickname(s): The Commander (2v2), Nexus Killer (1v1) Trademark: Killing many Nexuses in ZvP Achievements: KTF Ever Proleague - Most Valuable Player KTF Ever Proleague 2003 - 1st Place (Orion) MBC LG IBM Team League - 1st Place (Orion) MBC Tuscan Team League - 1st Place (Orion) KeSPA Cup 2005 - 1st Place (Samsung KHAN) esFORCE Magazine Best Teamplayer 2005 Korea E-Sports Award for Best Teamplay 2006 (With [EroS]~TT) Bio: Lee Chang Hoon, the most dominant player in Proleague. Chang Hoon Currently holds the most number of wins and most number of appearances in proleague to date. Chang Hoon's field is not the ever so glamorous 1v1 stage, but teamplay. Chang Hoon is the greatest 2v2 player to ever grace the battlefields of Starcraft.
Despite doing very well in local teamplay events, he focused primarily on 1v1 until he was recruited to join Lim Yo Hwan in team Orion. During his early 1v1 career, Chang Hoon was renown for exploiting any weakness a player would have in his base and consequently destroying their nexus or command center. This skill of his was particularly used against Protoss and the nickname 'Nexus killer' was born.
Chang Hoon never really made an impact on the scene until he persuaded Coach Ju Hoon to let him play in the match against the best teamplay combination of the time; Kang Doh Gyung and Park Jung Suk (H.O.T-Forever and Reach). Together with Kim Sung Jae (IntoTheRainBOw), he emerged victorious and was entrusted with all teamplay matches in the future. Chang Hoon left SK Telecom T1 in the early stages of 2005 for struggling team Samsung KHAN.
When Chang Hoon joined KHAN their victory rate was 30%. Within 6 months this percentage had increased to 75% and had won the first ever KeSPA Cup. In addition to this, paved the way for KHAN to reach the 2005 Proleague Season 2 finals against his old team; SK Telecom T1, which they lost 2-4. KHAN's dependence on Chang Hoon's teamplay became evident in 2006 when the league format reduced the number of teamplay games to 1. After this change, KHAN's winning rate dropped back to the 30% area. Currently, with inform players such as Song Byung Goo (Stork) and Lee Sung Eun (FireBatHero) and the ever dominant Chang Hoon, KHAN is placed first in the 2007 Proleague.
Chang Hoon spends an enormous amount of time on his teamplay strategies and attempts to show the audience that teamplay can be as interesting as 1v1. In an interview Chang Hoon said:
I like Lim Yo Hwan the best. He always makes the audience anxious, making them wait in anticipation. In the same way, I want to be a person that makes the audience come with great expectations for teamplays. I wish that teamplays will be acknowledged by all people, just like the individual games. I will strive to make this happen. Chang Hoon shows this in his games very often. Whether it be using a Zerg/Protoss on a Zerg/Terran map, or using old strategies like Hydra-Gaurdian, Chang Hoon is always trying to be innovative and different. Samsung's coach Yoo Ji Kang ([Oops]January) has remarked that Chang Hoon is particularly good at teamplay due to his immense understanding of the different situations which can arise in the game. Hence, his other nickname, The Commander, for his unparalleled control and execution of teamplay strategies.

In 2003, seemingly out of no where, Xellos vaulted onto the Korean Progaming platform, and claimed permanent stardom since then on.
During the 2003 Olympus Ongamenet Starleague, Xellos reached an astonishing win rate of 70%, and hence claimed his nickname, “perfect Terran”. Xellos successfully advanced from the round of sixteen with a perfect 3-0 defeating Mumyung, [Oops]Lee and the favourite gnome cow-boy Chojja. Losing only to the ZvT monster Junwi, Xellos again advanced from his group and moved on to the semi-finals. Waiting for him there was none other than the Emperor himself, and this was where he pulled the biggest upset of the entire league, and showed to the world his true caliber. One set after another, within an hour, Xellos defeated the Emperor and crowned himself as the victor with a convince score of 3-0. Yellow on the other side of the bracket was secret smiling, for at last his rival was eliminated and he would be playing a rookie in the finals, OSL title was only a stone-throw away. The battle was gruesome, and the score went back and forth, but eventually, Perfect Terran emerged on top, and forced Storm Zerg to type “GG” in the final deciding game. Perfect Terran received his title, and Storm Zerg remained as “Mr. Consistency” and “Mr. Second”.
One year later, Xellos was crowned the 2004 WCG Champion. Although he was heavily favoured to defend his WCG title in 2005, he was defeated by Silent_Control in the elimination round, and his teammate ForU eventually took the title.
Soon after his achievements, Xellos dived into a deep slump. A potential cause of this slump was shortly discovered in his team’s dormitory. On a white board, this message was found: "If Xellos restrains from DDR*, he wins OSL~~". From then on, “DDR Terran” replaced his former nickname.
* DDR also means masturbation "Ddal Ddal Re" in addition to Dance Dance Revolution.
-- Cambium Actually he got his nickname from his perfect record on Bifrost.

][Min][Gu][ - Kim Min Gu - 김민구 Race: Zerg Birthdate: ?? (anyone know?) Current Team: eSTRO Former Team(s): KTF MagicNs, CJ Entus Achievements: N/A Bio The name Kim Min Gu is not very well known in todays progaming environment. Yet this veteran has been around for many many years. Starting off as an unknown Zerg in KTF MagicNs, he remains an unknown zerg in eSTRO. Min Gu has never really shown us his full potential in a match. He occasionally manages to win large game; and usually by a lot. But, this has not been enough and has always stayed out of the top 25 in KeSPA rankings. Min Gu has found slightly more success in MSL as opposed to OSL.
Despite lacking fan recognition, he is a well respected progamer renown for his politeness and good manner. After defeating Seo Ji Hoon (Xellos) back in April 2005 they became good friends. Whenever Ji Hoon would go on battle.net, Min Gu would message him and they would talk and game. This friendship would ultimately lead to his arrival at CJ Entus after leaving KTF. Park Jung Suk (Reach) also remarked about mingu's manner as well as being his trusted PvZ practice partner.
Min Gu's peak in fame came around UZOO MSL. This came from something very unexpected... In the UZOO MSL opening he breakdanced. This humiliating feat gained him a small number of fans.. or were they anti-fans? At the end of the day, Mingu got his name in the progaming circuit and will forever be remembered for this one act.

Siva - Ahn Seok Yeol - 안석열 Race: Zerg Birthdate: ?? (if anyone knows plz tell me) Current Team: Retired (Army Service, declined ACE) Former Team(s): Samsung KHAN, Hexatron Dream Team, Pantech & Curitel Curriors, Pantech Ex Achievements: N/A Bio Ahn Seok Yeol has arguably the saddest progaming story out of all pros who have their name immortalized by a game. The zerg player with an amazing amount of talent and one hell of a nice guy, retired in 2007 having accomplished nothing at all. In the words of jkillashark;
Every retirement reminds of Rekrul's Korea Story. He talks about how a bunch of young 20-year-olds who will never make it big into OSL or MSL gaining no work experience and pretty much becoming surplus people in Korea. This is exactly what happened to Seok Yeol.
Seok Yeol was recruited by Samsung KHAN in 2003 was renown for his strong ZvP and good manner. He plodded along in KHAN playing teamleagues and was relatively unknown until the early 2004 when he played Lim Yo Hwan (Boxer) on Enter the Dragon 2004. This epic fight is now immortalized due to Yo Hwan's incredible control. And is still worth the watch today. In May 2004 in KHAN vs KTF Seok Yeol played another epic game against Byun Gil Sup (Sync) on Nostalgia. The match earned Seok Yeol a lot of respect amongst fans.
Later on in the year he went on to join Hexatron (same time as Leg, Elky, Assem and Rek were there) to fill the zerg hole the team had. While achieving nothing noteworthy during this time he was reported to be a really good guy. In 2005, Seok Yeol moved to Pantech & Curitel Curriors where he formed a close friendship with Park Yeong-Hoon (Stay[Hyo]). Together with Shim So Myung (silver) they formed the backbone of P&C's zergs.
In 2007 Seok Yeol announced his retirement and in his particularly saddening interview said:
-Who was inconvenienced most [by your departure]? ▶Pantech teammate Park Yeong-Hoon(Stay[Hyo]). We are same age, so I played with him, and worried with him. During my farewell party, we said goodbye feeling so sad. And we talked "after this, who would play with me?". He also expressed no interest in joining ACE while doing his service in the military and said that he would begin a new life independent from e-sports.
While seemingly insignificant, Seok Yeol's story shows us the life of an ordinary progamer. Not one with amazing flare. Not one with incredible skill. Having never made the major leagues, his career in essence was a failure. But what emerged from his story is something one cannot win in tournaments; friendship and respect. It is always sad when friends like Seok Yeol and Yeong-Hoon must depart, and undoubtedly Yeong-Hoon will soon follow a similar path, but one would hope to think something has come out his friendships and time spent with KHAN, Hexatron and Pantech. What has Seok Yeol's story shown us? If nothing else, it is a reality check for those wishing to go pro and the difficult path one must walk to succeed, and the price of failure.

Jun Sang Wook Akas: midas[gm], ddangg Nickname: The Engine, Bear, emoterran (foreign) Age: Team: SKTelecom1 Achievements: 2nd place at World Cyber Games 2004 lost to Xellos 4th place at MBC Starleague Pringles 1 2006 lost to Kingdom 3rd place at World Cyber Games 2006 won LX 3rd place at Ongamenet Starleague won GoodFriend
Sang-Wook Jeon was for a long time known for his fierce TvP match-up, which was widely accepted as the best in the world. His winning percentages in TvP have been breath taking throughout his career. Sang-Wook is a player who has never won anything big, but rather been a solid player for his team SKT1. He is probably one of the most consistent terrans in history, although slumping now pretty badly.
In 2004 people were amazed and many hadn't even heard of this DdangG as he was reaping through the WCG Korea with astonishing 10-0 stats and earned his place in the grand finals in San Francisco. At the grand finals he proved himself again and fought his way in to the gold-match to face Xellos. The games were intense but midas ended up being crushed 2-0 by The Perfect Terran.
The highlight year of Sang-Wook's career this far has been 2006. The year he placed 4th in MSL and 3rd in OSL and also gained 3rd place in WCG. In 2006 as some unknown Zerg called IPXZerg, better known as Savior, started to dominate the Brood War scene Midas was actually thought to be his best rival. By that year the TvP virtuoso had become very scary in every other matchup also., even his TvZ was also considered as one of the best in the world. Midas challenged Savior in the Ongamenet Starleague Shinhan 3 2006, by being seeded higher he picked him to his group. It was widely considered as a suicide move, but Baby-bear actually pulled it through and beat the Maestro. After the groupstages Midas got to pick his next opponent and he picked Ma Jae-Yoon again, but this time the prey fought back and sank Sang-Wook in to oblivion.
The 2007 first starleagues have been rough for him, being eliminated from both very early. Midas is still a very strong player but it seems he lacks selfconfidence even more than before, and right now he is showing the audience not much more than akward ceremonies.
