[Oops]Reach – Park Jung-Suk; 박정석 Race: Protoss Birthdate: 12/27/1983 Current Team: KTF MagicN’s Former Team(s): HanbitStars Achievements: 1st, SKY OnGameNet StarLeague 2002 2nd, KPGA 3rd 2002 2nd, Gillette OnGamenet StarLeague 2004 2nd, Uzoo MSL 2005 1st, poll amongst progamers [to select best looking one] (I’m serious) Bio: From PuSan, Park Jung-Suk was initially taken on by Hanbit to be a 2v2 specialist. Partnered with H.O.T.-Forever, he gained a fearsome reputation as a powerful teamplayer. After the release of revealing photos depicting an unclothed Reach posing with a similarly naked H.O.T., his fame increased. However, he showed lackluster performance as a 1v1 player. In 2001, he made somewhat of a splash in SKY 2001 – though he was eliminated early on, he was the only Protoss player in the tournament to have a winning record against BoxeR – and the only plto player in the tournament aside from GARIMTO to have taken a game from Him. The win was due to those qualities that made him famous – his incredible macro, uncanny storming abilities, and godlike micro. The macro, especially – he was the prototype macro player; before oov, there was Reach. While his micromanagement of all Protoss units shone, his ability to crank out legions of holy Protoss to do his bidding led to the rise of his star. The following year, he won the 2002 SKY OnGameNet StarLeague, again beating BoxeR in a convincing set of games in the finals to take the crown. [Of note is their game on Neo Forbidden Zone. Signature shuttle/templar play from Reach, therefore Mudang Protoss] From then on, he was hailed as the Hope and the Hero of Protoss – throughout the dark times of Protoss, he maintained top 5 kespa rank for longer than any Protoss – indeed, for longer than almost any other progamer. [Not TOO sure about this, since the literature on top 5 ranks isn’t as extensive as top 3 ranks; YellOw might have been top 5 for longer] Sometime during early 2004 Reach was offered an 80,000,000 won per year contract by KTF; he took them up on their offer [who wouldn’t?] It was renewed the following year for 230,000,000 won. During the crisis of the Mercury era [Gamevil OCL, G-voice OCL, Gillette 2004 OSL, EVER 2004 OSL] Protosses were being annihilated. Mercury holds a sub-30 percent win rate for PvZ; but in that time, Reach lived up to his name, and trampled his way through all opposition. Yet, in Gillette, he still fell to a horribly dressed watermelon 1-3 in the finals, losing on such maps as Fuckury and July’s-Favorite-Map-Where-Mutalisks-Are-Unstoppable. In EVER, he lost 2-3 to the monster known as iloveoov in semifinals. [epic game 1 on Mercury] In the third place match of said tournament, he beat his friend and teammate YellOw 3-2. In the post-game interview, he announced that the second game on Requiem was his favorite because he won “in true protoss fashion” with a two-gate rush – he ended by claiming that “a true man’s pride should be his zealots”. Along with such statements as “Protoss is a man’s race – it is both tough and straight”, these publicity affairs gave him an aura of manliness. The following year, Reach triumphed over his teammate ChOJJa 3-2 [game on Rush Hour loudest decibel level of any pro-game ever -_-; ] to advance to the finals of UZOO MSL. There, he suffered defeat against the up-and-coming ipxzerg – another loss to another zerg 1-3 in the finals. Shortly thereafter, he entered a long slump – the fabled KTF Captain's slump - and again he reverted to his old role of 2v2 specialist in ProLeague, partnering first with YellOw and subsequently with ZergbOng. Yet, in 2007, after over a year in offlines, when all hope seemed lost.. Reach woke up, and remembered he was the Hero of Protoss. [or GARIMTO took over the captaincy and things got better -_-;] Trampling through offlines with a perfect record, and then losing only one game in Dual Tournament, Reach returned to the arena in Daum OSL. Amidst cries of his fangirls [and fanboys], he advanced with a perfect record to quarterfinals. Yet, tragically, he lost to Stork 1-2, and was eliminated from the tournament. He continues to be a valuable 2v2 resource for KTF, and also has played a large part in the upbringing of their newest [and first in-house raised] star, Flash. “why do you not belive it? The legend has alived!” – Korean fangirl, on Reach’s DCinside.

i know i'm in not in a position to comment as i've not contributed to this project, but perhaps you could make the writeup less informal, lr? your knowledge and passion definitely show through (which is what i assume mani is looking for), but it'd be much more suited for tlpd if you cleaned it up a bit! i loved the nuggets of info you slotted in, like the ktf captain's curse, and mercury being a pvz graveyard, but there are more objective ways of delivering them i think!

Team: Samsung Khan aka: -------,--------- , nan[hanjihye] Choi Hong Hee, also known as Asuka-Jr is a new rising protoss in the team Samsung Khan. He is mostly known for his PvZ matchup. He emerged to the progaming scene and to the knowledge of foreign community in 2006, but not by winning something big. He made his name known through Afreeca, a software that allowed foreigners to follow lesser promatches and tourneys such as the JoPD. During the prime of PGT he ravaged his way through to earn olympic ranking in the ladder, when many of the korean progamers and semipros were playing it, under the screenname nan[hanjihye]. The most enthusiastic fans were already calling his unorthodox pvz and smart pvt as the next Nal_rA himself. He was often thought to be the next big thing in the Protoss lines among with Bisu and Tempest. The matchup that made Asuka-Jr known was PvZ, his style in the 2006 was amazingly different than the usual strategies versus Zerg. He used dragoons as the backbone of his army, supported by reavers. He didn\'t feel any kind of a need to expand as soon as possible to his natural, instead he expanded after harassing, when he knew it would be safe. It was widely discussed if his weakness would be some intense and dedicated mutalisk harrass, but replays against strategies such as that never leaked. No matter the matchup i think its safe to assume that everyone was pretty much amazed by his macro which was and is really good. That may be one of the reasons he got compared to Anytime and Pusan in the beginning. Even though using creative strategies and having a great macro his unit control didn\'t please everyone especially in the late game. On the other hand his early game control seemed to be impressive, fighting off early lings with first Zealots seemed to be no problem to him. Asuka-Jr is now a member of Samsung Khan, but hasn\'t got to play in too many televised matches and is starting to get forgotten. Although on Monday 20th of August 2007, it looks like OGN will hold their offline qualifiers for the upcoming Star Challenge Season 2 (Challenge League or ODT R1 for those not aware). As many know, this is more commonly known as PSL or PCBang Star League (for OGN atleast). And Asuka-Jr is fighting in the tournament in the group E accompanied with atleast Gorush and GoodFriend. Even though the group seems hard, maybe this tournament is the one where he finally makes it big.

Team: SKTelecom T1 Date of Birth: 1990-05-12 Oh Chung Hoon is the rising Terran player of the wellknown Terran factory SKTelecom T1. Taught by players such as iloveoov and midas, he has played quite a few games for the team in proleague in both 1v1 and 2v2 games. He has stayed in the shadows for some time now, without making it into the big leagues. Who would have guessed, that in the year 2007 in the preliminaries to both 2nd MSL and 2nd OSL Shudder_V finally broke through finishing first in his groups. He faced and crushed players like Luxury, Free and UpMagic, and earned his place in the toughest competitions of StarCraft: Brood War. SKT T1 has used Shudder_V in quite many Proleague matches during the first round of 2007, with changing success. He has faced some tough opponents, of which Nada, Stork and Anytime should be mentioned at least. On 27th of June he faced Anytime in Proleague match versus Lecaf Oz a match which SKT T1 lost 1-3, Shudder being the only player to bring a victory to his team. He beat his opponent with a well executed marine scv rush. At about the same times Shudder was also fighting in another tournament, the 2007 OnGameNet StarChallenge Season 1, in which he had advanced from the group stage by beating BestGod and FrOzean[Name] a month earlier. On 11th of July 2007 the Tournament continued and Shudder got to play against Yooi. It was a best of three match up and the winner would continue in the tournament. First game was played on Python and by the time of "gg" Shudder was the one winning the match. The next two games however didn't quite go as planned and he got destroyed twice in a row and got eliminated from the tournament. Two weeks after Shudder_V finally pulled it through when it meant the most and he got his ticket to the 2nd OSL of 2007. This was soon followed by the qualification to the 2nd MSL of 2007 as he gave a warning to other progamers and fans to watch out for him in the upcoming leagues. Recommended games: Anytime vs Shudder_V Proleague June 27 Nemesis
