Players got in a final week of cup competition before the Esports World Cup, revealing that the gap between the top and lowest ranked competitors is narrower than ever. Notably, ShoWTimE won the final WardiTV Mondays by beating Clem, showing that even the reigning world champ faces the threat of upsets from all sides.

ShoWTimE got a great morale boost ahead of EWC, winning WardiTV Mondays with wins against BYuN, GuMiho, SHIN, and Clem. Die Mauer did benefit from his opponents obliging his preferences and playing several drawn-out macro games, including world champion Clem who seemed to tone his aggressive early tendencies down a notch. Still, it was a timely reminder that ShoWTimE is not to be taken lightly, even though he enters EWC as one of the bottom-half seeds (VOD).*****
July 15: PiGosaur Cup #40

We got a preview of what will likely be the results of the next few weekly cups, as
MaxPax won a somewhat sparsely attended PiGosaur Cup. Still, it was hardly a cakewalk for MaxPax as he faced tough resistance from ByuN in the finals, who went up 2-0 to start the series. However, MaxPax turned things around by leaning on his old specialty in early Blink-Stalker aggression, which gave him the early leads needed to pull off a 3-2 reverse sweep (VOD). *****
July 16: uThermal 2v2 Circuit: Warm Up Cup #3

With the stronger Protoss-Terran teams once again declining to compete, uThermal's third warm-up cup turned into another Zerg-Protoss-fest with lots of early-game action. The weekly title went to the previous runner-up team of GgMaChine-Shameless, who narrowly defeated NightPhoenix/Wayne in a 3-2 knife fight (VOD).
