Weekly Cup Competitions
Week of November 24 - 30
by Wax
It feels like the dawn is finally breaking after a long night of endless PvP's and TvP's, with the week of Nov 24-30 delivering the match-up diversity that viewers desire. It's hard to know how to parcel out credit—is it the patch, new maps, or just the high-end Zerg and Terran players who are upping their participation?
In any case, it was still the consistent cup monsters who came out on top, with the MaxPax-Clem-herO trio winning the weeklies while herO triumphed in the month-long WardiTV Korean Royale event.

November 24: WardiTV Mondays #62

At least the first cup of the week was very 'old school' in its make-up, due to Solar losing a Zerg civil war to Lambo in RO16 (and Lambo losing to Cure in the next round) and Reynor suffering a huge upset at the hands of Nicoract. That put us down the path to a familiar MaxPax vs herO finals, with MaxPax coming out with the 3-1 victory. herO stuck to the current meta by attempting some form of proxy or fake-proxy in every game, but MaxPax had a good read on his opponent and came out with the cup win (VOD).

November 24: Monday Night Weeklies #31

Things got spicier in Monday Night Weeklies, with Solar continuing to show his good form by making a finals run. Alas, Clem remains an almost impenetrable wall for Solar, with the Liquid ace taking two series wins over the Falcons Zerg on his way to a cup victory. While Solar often does his best to challenge Clem in straight-up macro games, this cup saw him unload a bevy of cheeses to try and topple his nemesis. While this netted him two map wins in the finals—thanks to a hidden Zergling runny and a proxy-Hatchery—Clem still came out with the vital game five win (VOD).

November 25: PiGosaur Cup #59

PiGosaur Cup saw herO and Clem clash in the finals, brushing off Solar and ByuN's efforts to spice up the proceedings. While herO vs Clem can feel like a 'more of the same' finals to frequent cup viewers, herO made things rather interesting by channeling his inner sOs. The first three games saw him play some variation of proxy-gate, followed by rather sOs-esque improvisation afterward. This worked out well for herO, as he stepped ahead to a 2-1 lead. After dropping a normal-ish game to give up the tie, herO clinched the finals by shutting down Clem's all-in push in game five (VOD).

November 9-30: WardiTV Korean Royale #4
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/wardiKRBR2025.png)
herO finished his month by picking up another pretty chunk of change in the $3000 WardiTV Korean Royale, solidifying his return to #1 Protoss status. Unfortunately for Zerg, this came at the expense of Solar placing runner-up in another cup. While Solar was impressive in his 3-0 semifinal win over Classic, his wide array of Zerg tricks couldn't stop the rampaging herO. While you never know how the sometimes error-prone herO is going to play from match to match, it's undeniable that he's been incredibly solid these last few weeks (VOD (final day)).
