Weekly Cup Competitions
Week of February 9 - 15
by Wax
The Liuli Cup Finals was the main attraction during the second week of February, but there was also plenty of weekly cup action to fill up the calendar. herO was the big winner of the week with two cup wins (a soft-triple when including his 2v2 cup win), while MaxPax also took a single victory.
*Partial brackets may be shown.
February 9: WardiTV Mondays #73
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/wardimon073.png)
herO took his first win of the week in WardiTV Mondays, defeating a somewhat unexpected finals opponent in Cure. The TL Terran was one of the original weekly cup kings, but had taken a major step back in the past year. However, Cure looked to be in great form for at least one tournament, defeating MaxPax 2-0 and pushing herO to five games in a narrow finals defeat (VOD). While Cure had previously been reliant on early-game attacks in his problem match-up of TvP, in this tournament he showed strong all-around play.

February 9: Monday Night Weeklies #39

Cure made another deep run in Monday Night Weeklies, but his briefly invigorated TvP didn't hold up in the end. His upper bracket advantage didn't hold up in the finals against MaxPax, with the mysterious Dane winning 3-2 and 2-0. Unfortunately for Cure, the games showed why TvP has troubled him (and many other Terrans) for quite some time now, as he was unable to take maps where he couldn't finish the game early or at least inflict heavy damage (VOD).

February 10: PiGosaur Cup #68 / PiG Sty Qualifier
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/pig068.png)
A weekly double was on the line in the finals of PiGosaur Cup, with top Protosses herO and MaxPax clashing yet again in a familiar weekly cup match-up. MaxPax has recently been trying to revive the signature Void Ray fast expansion build he's had to shelve in the current PvP meta, but unfortunately for him, it didn't pay off. herO quickly went up 2-0 with all-ins, and finished the series by adding insult to injury by successfully defending his own fast expansion against MaxPax's all-in in the deciding set (VOD).
PiGosaur Cup #68 doubled as a qualifier for the upcoming PiG Sty Festival, with two spots set to be awarded. As herO and Cure had already been invited (and with MaxPax having declined to compete in PiG Sty Festival), one of the spots went to remaining semifinalist Percival. A separate playoff/tiebreaker was played between the next highest placing players for the other tournament seed, and YoungYakov defeated Creator 3-2 to earn his invitation.

February 14: uThermal 2v2 Circuit 2026 - Bonus Cup #3
![[image loading]](/staff/Waxangel/misc/weeklies/thermy2v2_2026_bonus3.png)
uThermal hosted another Bonus Cup for his 2v2 tour, but this time he gave things a major twist by forcing a unique all-random rule. Coverage of the tournament was somewhat limited (likely due to overlap with the Liuli cup), but it appears that race-roll luck may have played a major role in determining the winners. The victorious duo of SHIN-herO were fortunate in drawing main races for either one or even both of the players in their final two matches, which likely contributed to their victory (VOD) (we welcome any corrections from anyone who wants to do the math and tell us exactly how statistically likely SHIN-herO's rolls were).
