Daehan Economic News reports that Nexon's StarCraft IP-licensed game is being developed by Nexon's FPS division (responsible for Sudden Attack), with the creator of popular Brood War UMS "Temple Destruction (신전 부수기)" as one of the leads.
Nexon is said to have created a dedicated team and hired key personnel after acquiring licensing rights to the StarCraft IP in 2025 (this deal was reported by Korean media in May of 2025, but remains unconfirmed by Blizzard and Nexon). According to Daehan News, Nexon stated "we cannot clarify [such reports]" when asked for comment.

Pretty confident this is separate from the Blizzard SC Fps that is being made and expected to headline Blizzcon. So we have two starcraft FPS' but no RTS. Fun.

It's very likely these are two separate games. If Blizzard has a game they're actually confident enough to show at BlizzCon, it's probably been baking for 2 years + internally. The alleged Nexon licensing deal was reported in May of 2025, and this most recent report is coming not even a year later. The Nexon project has basically just begun and is almost certainly unrelated to whatever Blizzard had been cooking up previously.

Just doesn't make sense to me for both to be FPS. I guess only time will tell though. Seems like wasted potential with the IP. I mean, I will play an FPS and it sounds cool, but i also want something to be RTS. Imo just like, without data and leaks and info and stuff like that, either they have 1 starcraft game cooking, and its the shooter, or 2 starcraft games and only 1 is shooter.

If there are indeed two (FPS) games beeing developed there is at least one of them for mobile.

There is no way in hell Blizzard is not developing a live service game with MTX.
My guess is Blizz is doing a FarCry'ish ego shooter game while Nexon is more MMO'ish oriented doing a third person game.

I would be fine with a sci fi battlefield like game, where you have big maps, infantry and vehicles, and even some sort of battle pass since that shit is standard now. As long as there's enough core game that's free and it isn't going to be gating experience behind money (like hydralisk costs 10$ or wait 3 months for it), then I'd be down.
I love battlefield type shooters, so some sort of big multiplayer game like that could be super fun. As long as its not a hero shooter. I don't want any more hero shooters, or extraction shooters tbh. I'd rather it just be straight up fun shootemup.
Of course there would need to be some sort of hook that makes it different from other shooters. But if its just helldivers or arc raiders kind of game, with a starcraft skin, I'd be pretty sad. given the broader scale of RTS having infantry/vehicles, there is a lot to draw on. And not many competitors other than Battlefield to be honest. Maybe Delta Force is also in that same vein? But it's not scifi. Halo maybe? I guess? But there's no grand 32v32 option there. A sci fi 32v32 MP with starcraft units... that would be super fun.
Since they're not doing RTS, and they want a shooter, I'd hope it is at least something that isn't loot based.

Didn't even realize there is MTX in SC2? Well done then. Thats just fine.
Hoping for a more singleplayer oriented game from Blizzard actually. Or at least coop.

My worry about a helldivers kind of game is that, they already have an all power authoritarian style earth government fighting bugs inspired and advanced robots/aliens system going. So the innovation would be picking which side you're on. But maybe they could make it work and find their audience.

I think the shooter could be like the original Halo games, Zerg is the flood, protoss are the more techy alien things. Maybe they drive the wraith. And you play as the humans. Could be epic!

Too many variables (and its not confirmed) to guess.
It could be a blockchain gotcha mobile game for all we know.

They could also be making an expansion for Starcraft 1 or 2? Or maybe an official Evo ladder of sc1 in sc2? Because there was hype around it in Korea where even sc1 players played. But yeah very unlikely they invest ever again into RTS but hopes are up.

Yeah, this sounds like Planetside. Which I think Helldivers 2 is kinda like? I havent played but i'd love a shooter with a grand strategy/MMO context.
