No release date announced yet, though typically it's a while for blizzard games from announcement to retail. D3 was announced in 2008, went on sale in 2012

But they DID say in the past they announced games way too early and it fizzled out the hype after so many years of waiting.

I'm not saying 2020, but hopefully 1st half of 2021...

Anyway, I have very cautious optimism for this.

edit: Combat still seems like Diablo 3, I was hoping for a complete overhaul. Albeit it is a bit more bloody.

Triple-layer skill customization: Skill tree, skill levels, + Runes (not exactly diablo 3-like)

Non-linear Acts. You can choose where to go first... on a mount (so far a horse was shown). 5 zones to choose from, for now.

5 classes for release: Barb, Sorc, Druid... and 2 unannounced ones. Classes can be boy/girl as Diablo 3, but far more customization: skin color, faces, hair color, hair style.

Open world, mounts, darkness, blood, gore and world events with huge brutal bosses. I'm hooked, that's everything D3 was supposed to be!

Randomly generated dungeons (only level design? or dungeons pop up in the world... can't tell). Also, we WILL be going down to hell again.

They just said during D4 panel game is "not coming out soon, not even blizzard soon". So, I'm guessing at least 2-3 years away.

Expected announcement. Quite happy to see that dark and gore vibe back, but the combat reminded way too much of D3, and I didn't like it, at all. Also, let's hope they write a better story than D3, which was literally the worst game story-wise that Blizzard has launched imo (not counting OW, HS, etc...).

I only wish they would make it a bit more tactical and not just pew-pew lazors like D3 where all you do is mindlessly blast through the same few zones over and over, destroying everything in 1 or 2 hits only to find gear that boosts your numbers so you can do exactly the same thing but on a higher difficulty... It wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that the new gear you're looking for is just a better version of the gear you already have and that there's very little to the actual combat at that point as you just find the difficulty sweet spot when you one-shot most of the things so you can do it quickly over and over. I'd rather have less difficulty levels but for them to actually be difficult and give you a sense of accomplishment other than "I've finally ground enough to have gear with just the right stats for the last difficulty." I want some actual tactical challenge to this and not just gear dependency and quick reflexes.

Do any of you remember the challenge of D2 ironman mode? Where people were trying to beat the game in hell difficulty on hardcore with only using self-found non-magical broken gear? That's right, you weren't even allowed to use normal stuff that wasn't broken. But that was for extreme freaks. For regular folk just finishing the game on hell difficulty was ultra hard and doing it in hardcore mode was actually a badge of honor that garnered much respect.

I've played every single Diablo game pretty extensively and to this day I believe I've sunk the most hours into D1 (and it's the only one that I still have installed).
Time is precious. Waste it wisely.

they said the d4 for consoles are coming at Christmas 2020. I think PC-Version will be released in summer 2020.

They better not have difficulty anymore. Like I get it's... tricky... to compete with a microtransaction heavy game or produce the same amount of content for an initial release, but why would you want to replay the same content in higher difficulty anymore? Path of Exile already makes it clear how much better a single once through campaign is.

And path of exile showed that you can recycle the same content and reuse it in leu of making completely new zones for the faux repeated playthrough.

I'm more interested in the loot system then anything. A lot of AAA titles have had terrible loot systems recently and I seriously worry about D4 being the same or even being more of the same like borderlands.

i really want to be excited for this game; but how most recent blizzard games have gone leaves me with no hype for this at all.

runewords are a big plus, but it seems like they already fucked up the skill and talent systems

I am kind of worried about the need for mounts for the big open áreas (dont want to be running around doing nothing I think) and for the non-soloable events. Was that for campaign purposes? Really hope not…………


Still with the not even soon(tm) i will try to Forget about this for a couple of years before starting to get hyped.

I'm super psyched for this It seems to have quite a few D2 nods, which makes me happy... I far preferred D2 to D3. Even if the release date isn't for a few years, it'll be worth the wait, as long as it's done right. I wish Blizzard North was still around though.

The ArtStyle is the biggest plus for me atm. Hopefully we aren´t getting to much powerranger outfits and overall a more D2 like feeling and i´m happy.

Saw a comment "they finally released Diablo III" that made me chuckle. Looks really good. I am a Path of Exile player. Diablo III had a lot of flaws, I enjoyed playing it - I don't regret paying for it but it wasn't a great game especially for long time motivation. I don't expect it to be as deep as Path of Exile or be competetive with 4.0 from Path of Exile (has yet to be announced) but I hope its a fun game with long term motivation and smooth play and an item system and progression that allows to hunt for items and feels rewarding. I have hopes even though not super high up there.

Also I love them going back to their more original dark, bloody and gritty design. Diablo 3 while it looked good never felt fitting to its universe. I am really happy and I hope we can enjoy the f*** out of it!

The cinematic was awesome but gameplay was underwhelming to say the least.

1. In certain screens game looks like those silly mock-ups of D3 with de-saturated colors and lowered brightness.

2. Barbarian looks almost the same to D3 one. What new barb skill did we see? There was Seizmic slam, played in D3. Leap slam, also old one. WotB, played it in D3. Has anyone seen something new and exciting about barb? I mean, you could say 4 weapon slots is exciting, but honestly I think this will be even more silly than monk carrying a 2H weapon and using fist for all skill animations. Imagine binding dagger to Seizmic slam animation.

3. From the brief looks at the items, it seems very similar to D3 style of itemization.

4. Only 1234, LMB+RMB on quickbar? What year is this?

5. Characters stats still seems to be centered around Attack/Defense/Life. I guess we will yet again be stacking str/vit on barbs.
