Absolutely pathetic. According to the dev Q&A, they don't even know how will they want their game to be played. The only fully fledged idea they had about important topics were keys for end game dungeons and some world bosses.
Trading? idunno What about the godawful skill tree? idunno Can you share something exciting about crafting? nah
Just amazing. You would expect some half-decent developers to promise us the skies, and even if half of their promises will fall through along the years of further developement, the other half remains. But these guys have absolutely no vision. This is a more marketable and sustainable Diablo 3.
The cinematic was boring as fuck as well. Nice gore, nice quality, but in hindsight, I can say it represents the current iteration of D4 perfectly: "I want a cool bloody summon scene with Lillith, but I have no idea about anything else, so just make people who walk.. scream, and walk... read, walk some more... read.. maybe some screaming? Yeah, and talk, lots of talk about nothing. Sounds good."

Itemization is 100% D3 style.

Talent "tree" for barb. JFC, this game is going to be trash.

Please remember guys, dont preorder until you know game isnt some shallow trash like d3. Game already looks like d3 with just graphical improvements.

I really hope they keep the damage and hp numbers (very) low. "Best Players" are already hitting the cap of GR150 (4players). D3 must change from integer32 to 64 at GR 158/159. POE has the same problem, hitting same numbers like GR149 in D3.
17% increased dmg per GR lvl is the worst thing ever happened. It should be 10% or lower per lvl. GR150 of 10% is the same like GR77 of 17%, numerical.
edit: I see Pictures that items are like d3. But the great thing is that there are no st/int/dex/vit on it, you can use item for all classes. more diversity and less store items at stash. I have strongarm bracers for all classes at stash, yeah mostly because of dex/st/int/.

Looks way too much like D3 for my taste.
|
Seems like Diablo 4 is also gonna be always online like D3. Buying an always online single player game is a mistake I only need to make once.
|
This is D3 with better graphics and "dark" filter. It still looks cartoony and silly to me. All people that knew how to create a good Diablo game left Blizzard, so now they are stuck with WOW developers and artists trying to emulate Diablo game. Can't happen. From what I can see, the itemization is still the same. Weapon damage is king. At least there are less slots now. Hopefully there will be no greater rifts and infinite power creep. It gets old really fast.
The ARPG genre remains in a horrible place, for now.

I thought D3 was pretty solid once RoS came out but yea you would expect more. It looks like they are still very early in the development process though.
|
Please keep in mind that the game is still somewhere between 2 and 10 years away from being released.

Not hyped for this at all but even so I had to rewatch the D3 'gameplay' trailer and PVP announcement to put things into perspective. + Show Spoiler +

I do agree with you all that at this point the game is looking too much like Diablo 3.5 instead of Diablo 4. What the panelists said DID NOT inspire confidence either.
It will all come down to depth, or rather how much of it will this game have. Seeing reused assets from Diablo 3 for items, damage calculations, hit detection and ragdoll physics is setting off alarm bells for you as well as for me. I can already see these enemies flying all over the screen like pinatas or hot air balloons when hit. That is not the kind of hit response I wanted...
They have to have as much depth as PoE skill-wise (not developer skill-wise, skill-wise as in abilities heroes use), and create a good game loop. Not infernal difficulty + 9...
With all that said HOWEVER I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that that skill tree is a very rough draft and very much a work-in-progress...
I wish it looked more like the korean "Lost Ark" than Diablo 3, and had the depth of PoE

Combat looks slow as snails. Walk/run speed is atrocious. Only 5 points per skill, so no specialization at all, just a different way to make 15 meh skills.
At least they didn't nix item switch simply "because it is confusing and not used much" Jay Wilson.
Unless things change drastically, I won't bother.

I only hope they won't go the D3 way of making your skill damage and such tied to your gear. That was a horrible idea...

Well, I'm out then. Will play some Grim Dawn for single player experience instead.
Edit: Before people start complaining that Grim Dawn is a piece of trash... What I like the most in ARPGs is actually developing your character. Investing points in skills is what gives me the biggest sense of progression. Finding new gear is pretty much an afterthought for me and something that happens anyway, without much influence on my part. That's why I despise gear-as-build style of approach as seen in PoE and D3 (PoE at least has the huge ass passives tree which is nice, but I hate the skill gem system).

Unless things change drastically, I won't bother. It's just a very early demo to give an impression where they wanna go with this. I think there's a reason why they said it's not coming out for a very long time. I'm not impressed either, but i can't imagine Blizz chilin for a couple of years and then release the same game we see today.
