Jaedong probably had way more chances to win vs Flash than Yellow against Boxer and yet he talks about a rivalry between Boxer and Yellow. Who in the world would bet for Yellow back in the day unless you were a zerg player like me blinded by faith . Flash has 3 OSL and so Jaedong, Nada and July. If Flash was so beyond Jaedong then why doesn't he have 6 OSL? It is the same generation, winrate doesn't do all. In fact, I would argue that if there was ONE rivalry to remember during the pro era, it would be exactly Jaedong vs Flash. I assume it is simply a fan vision from Grrrrr... which I totally understand as we are all passionated people, but the way he puts it really sound like it was Peter McNeele against Mike Tyson lol.
I think he talked it in a statistical way, which I can get behind. It is kind crazy. Jaedong amazing player for sure.

The point of this interview was to talk about Starcraft and get a better picture of its history, so imo it makes sense.
Also if Zombiegrub will interview Elky as well, it makes more sense to talk a little bit about Starcraft players and poker in that interview.

He is so likeable. He's one of those guys whom always struck me one of the most normie / balanced successful gamers I've ever seen. There's a few from that era that always struck me as that way. Without getting into specific negative stereotypes, I'll just say thay most sweaty gamers just have a vibe about them that they're gamers (I know I carry many of thise traits). But this guy never struck me as having some of those somewhat negative personality traits, even when he was sweating out games back in the day.
Old school BW !!!!! My love and the reason I have been here since the beginning ....this account since 2002!
One of the first Americans to go to Korea as far as I know was... SuperCondumUser. If my old butt remembers correctly he got in trouble for stealing(computer stuff) and was deported ... Last I had heard he was in prison on drug and weapons charges ... He is from the same state as me

Sounds like the supercow story if I'm not mistaken? I feel like "cow" was definitely part of his name. Didn't know the SuperCondomUser pseudonym but if it's the guy who ended up coaching tennis in Saudi Arabia or something then I think it's the same one.
grrr was extremely influential for protoss. hes essentially the grandfather of every single protoss build used today. he won an osl hungover (or mildly drunk? i cant recall the story). He was essentially the best player in the world until boxer showed up, but far less consistent as the scene was still amateurish, not a lot of money, and grrr was a kid having fun in a new country. If he had been dedicated and understood the amount of money he could've made, his career wouldve more accurately reflected his skills, abilities, and explain why he is so highly respected in korea. You have players like garimto who won two OSL's, but they didnt actually contribute much to the protoss meta: Grrrr set the stage for everything after him.
Man I remember when I first found out about progamers and the competitive scene from sclegacy waaaay back when. Recall sending an email to Grrrr wishing him luck during one of the early WCG years (If I remember right they had players emails listed alongside bracket...or something)
Never heard anything back but I thought it was super cool regardless when I was like 12 or 13 ^^;
