Very happy that I can now come back home to a mech keyboard instead of a G15. How do you like your Ducky 1008L? I personally don't like it because of the key layout...I really don't like the big L enter key and the reduced right shift + \ next to the question mark. Actually the reason why I have the L version was due to a mistake on my behalf. I wanted a 1008 because it was the only keyboard with brown switches that had a normal layout (small enter key) and was within my price range (80$), but I ordered the wrong one by accident =P (and the normal 1008 was out of stock anyway). Luckily, my mistake turned out to be beneficial as I use the backslash a lot at work so it's good to have it somewhere my hands are used to going. I can name several flaws that the 1008L has especially after using a Filco for a little bit. First off, I'm not a fan of how the left shift and spacebar feels. Some keys, especially on the keypad, have a resonating ping when you key them. The stands don't have rubber so it can move around easily (the Filco feels like it's glued to the table). Finally, the light on the capslock is not a good thing for me because my work forces me to switch between capslock on and off quite often and I have to move my hand to check the light instead of glancing quickly to the upper right corner (or whereever my hands wouldn't be). But despite all that, I still enjoy typing on it very much, I really like the touch response for pure typing, and I do not regret my choice. I think it's good for the price but there might be something better out there with brown switches in the same price range(I think Rosewill has one but it has the large Enter key layout which is why I didn't get it). P.S. it was dream typing this out on my Filco, oh gawd I can't stop sdfshjdfksjhdflkisughdfliusterkjshkjs edit: I'm going to be lazy for a bit since I have to go do things but I would like to know a good software to setup macro keys to control volume, if anyone has something please let me know. Thanks.

I'm actually considering about getting a Ducky 9008 or 1008....I know that there is a difference in quality between those 2 keyboards, but at the same time there is also a difference in price. Having already owning 2 mechanical keyboards, I think that I might get a 1008 which is cheaper, but then the 9008 is also good due to its superior quality. I have a Cherry G80-3000 with MX blue right now, but the thing is it's just so freaking huge, and I wanna get another keyboard with MX blue switches that's smaller. I also have a CM Storm QFR with black switches but I still like blue switches better. So I'm really thinking hard about whether to get 9008 or 1008...

From the pictures I can tell that there's definitely a difference in build quality. For example, the shell from the 9008 is one solid piece whereas in the 1008 the top part of the shell is a different piece from the perimeter and bottom. I cannot say if or how that affects the typing experience. The plastic might be better to but I don't know for sure, you'll have to investigate if that matters to you. It's too bad neither the 9008 has rubber feet, otherwise I don't know what else the 9008 has significantly over the 1008. I thought you could find these keyboards in local stores in Taiwan where you could try them out and see what you like the best or is worth your money.

Personally I am liking 1008 quite a lot because it isn't that expensive and build quite solid all around. I would wanna save up some money for a red switch later on~

I know a keyboard store here in Taiwan and she sells a bunch of these keyboards and I get a chance to try out all sorts of keyboards. TBH I don't feel that much of a difference in terms of typing feeling between the 1008 and 9008. She told me that the 1008 recently got improved by having 2 metal-plates like most other mechanical keyboards instead of just 1 metal-plate, which apparently caused most of the problems 1008 had from before (I have no idea what problems they were but I trust her lol). The 9008 does look better but for the price I think I'm leaning more towards 1008 even though the quality might be worse.....

My friend bought one aswell and he hasnt red switch like I do, what does red switch mean:D? Cherry MX switches can have two different springs inside. There is a stronger spring making the keys more stiff in the black, clear and green MX switches, and there is softer spring making the keys easier to press in the blue, brown and red MX switches. Your keyboard has softer keys and your friend's keyboard has stiffer keys. It is about preference, the quality is the same.

I currently have the CM Quickfire storm (Reds) and a Das silent (Browns) keyboard to play starcraft 2. With the Cherry mechanical keys they have a travel distance of 4mm and an actuation or 2mm. Is there any brand of keyboard that has altered the travel distance or the actuation distance? I find 4mm a bit far. Thanks!

EDIT: I am apparently wrong, I found this: http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/cherry-mx-rubber-switch-dampeners.html, and it say it is only 0.4 mm reduction.

All i can say is that it's amazing. Especially for the pretty low price you pay for what you get. Typing on this keyboard is wicked nice. The keys are good quality and the feeling when typing on it is soft and silent. Describing the feeling is not enough you got to try it yourself! This is my 2nd keyboard and my first one was the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. I would choose the Steelseries 6Gv2 Red Edition 10/10 times over the Blackwidow Ultimate. If anyone here is considering one of these keyboards and is wondering what the differences is (cons and pros) i would gladly help you to decide wich keyboard you'd like between these. For me though..... Steelseries 6Gv2 Red Edition is my new baby and i love it!

I agree that it's a really awesome keyboard for typing because it's so soft, but when it comes to SC2, I find it quite irritating due to lots of misclick. The keys are so soft and easy to press than I misclicked so many times without knowing

Only downside I can possibly think of is that the colorful extra WASD keys that come with it are actually lower quality than the keys that are already there. The keys are made of a special plastic that feels very durable and grips my fingertips very slightly. Not a matte finish, doesn't get greasy even when eating pizza.
