So i do not know where i heard this, but i remeber hearing that during the kespa era korean starcraft players could get banned from professional tournements if they refused to say gg at the end of the game. I also heard that they were very limited by the rules in what they were allowed to say. I heard the could only say pp(for pause) or gg, and anything else risked disqualification. I thought about it, and i am not sure this is true or if this makes sense. I know almost every game i have seen korean pros always say gg, or at least as far as i can remember, and i also don't remember them saying much else, epsicually during professional tournemnts. So i wonder what the rules were historitcally, what they are now, can players say whatever they want in pro tourneys and just choose not to?

You are not mis-remembering. I'm going from memory here, but one famous scandal was I think Backho typing "ww" instead of "gg" at the end of a game and being punished for it. There was also another player, I forget who, who requested a pause using "ppp" instead of "pp" (or the other way around) and was almost disqualified. My memory is telling me that punishment ended up withdrawn, however?

Meanwhile FBH is dancing around the loser's booth and stuff, so I'm not really sure if the point was ever "etiquette".

EDIT: Oh it was Leta. Yeah that was such a dumb rule.

if i recall correctly fbh's dances and other similar celebrations were banned too after a while

That was GoRush during OSL and he got a loss because of that, losing the series 1/2 if I recall. Very disappointing because he was performing this season while nobody was expecting him.

I have this memory of a long stalemate TvT where I wanna say Nada starts trying to hide a ghost underneath a floating rax to setup a nuke, and Boxer types out "you really think I'm gonna fall for that?" and the whole studio starts laughing. It must've been pretty early on
