Disgusting move by Blizzard. LOL!!! You have to be joking right? You're actually blaming blizzard for child labor now? Come on...
Of course I'm not blaming them. But if you have played wow and followed blues post thats the argument they use, that is "encouraging black market with poor working conditions many times for childrren".
How is this going to stop it? This is encouraging even more because now it isn't a "black market" anymore for chinese gold farmers and alike.
Blizzard is absolutely not to blame working conditions like that, and child labour. However this isn't a step in the right direction for their games especially since they prechead over at wow forums that we shoudn't buy gold etc.

I feel disgusted and betrayed, Diablo is not dead, no sir, its not even a game anymore, its a job(not a esport).
People will not play because its fun, because its thrilling, they will not play because its diablo. People will play to find godly gear and sell it, and all gear will be bought by chinese farmers(you know then) which will re-sell at atrocious prices.
Seriously, we all waited 10 years for this piece of garbage? This is a slap on the face of the community.

I really don't understand why this would be a bad thing? Nothing is forcing you to let this affect you in any way.
Is your perfect set of armor worth less if some rich kid can just buy it with their parents credit card? Newsflash: this was already happening en masse on ebay, in both D2 and WoW.
If you want prestige - just get the gear on Hardcore. If you want to make enough pennies and dimes to pay for your GSL, MLG and [insert event] subscriptions over paypal by selling off some loot, go for it. You might even make enough on your battle.net account to buy you the future starcraft expansions.
|
I think it's awesome. I wonder how much I can supplement my yearly income by selling every rare drop I come across. You only need a certain level of good loot before you can farm the crap out of everything if you're at the top of the curve of video-gaming ability.
Good players become the suppliers, bad players become the demanders. Cash in on your skill (and luck) and make a pretty buck.
I find it funny that it's the same old rehashed complaints about pay2win items in other games, yet people haven't yet realized that the money could be going to YOU.

So the last 15-20 pages of bitching are a complete and utter overreaction. Sure there is some bad feeling about the RMT being incorporated into the game but I have news for you: Micro-transaction-centric business models are the future of the gaming industry (until someone comes up with a better model that is). The simple fact is, for all you bitch and moan about "evil corporations releasing half-done games and then releasing the other half in expansion packs and DLC," the consumer populace demands this of the developer. People want so much more out of a game now that releasing a "one and done" title just doesn't work anymore.
And it's not going to be like Maple Story, where you can just buy items that are strictly better than what you can find in-game otherwise, someone somewhere has to find that item first and then be willing to sell it to you. Does this make it easier for botters/farmers to make their money? Depends on how active they are in preventing it / how heavy their fees are.
Don't misconstrue Blizzard saying "We are giving players a way to sell in-game items for real-life cash" with Blizzard saying "We are now supporting botters"
I've never seen such an ignorant knee-jerk reaction.

You are not thinking this through, this affects EVERYONE.
The AH will be dominated by thousands of gold farmers who will outfarm you in every way, they will control the influx of legendary/set equipments, which will make your own legendary garbage, because they will always sell cheaper.
Also, the RMAH will be the dominat economy, everyone will sell uber shit on the RMAH, and the crap gear will remain on the GAH, in other words, you never have access to elite gear unless a) you find it yourself(in which case, you will sell it), b) you buy it for real money.
|
The game looks less and less appealing. Its going to be bot filled and if you enjoy pvp your going to have to play a ton to compete with the people buying gear. Yeah you could always buy stuff online but this is going to encourage people on buying it items, it wont be againts TOS a lot of people are going to do it.
The arena in the game is going to make the balance centered around teams rather than characters so 1v1 is going to be thrash. Lets not forget no LAN and always online to play the game, its like playing WoW

Yes. You can't fight human nature. So long as gear in Diablo is valued by players and difficult to get, people will buy it for real money. So Blizzard just decided to stop fighting the inevitable.

That only matters if you care about the monetary value of your gear. If what you care about is the utility of that gear, then it doesn't matter what other people have.

They havent had a single game that wasnt a huge success for over 15 years. People complaining on forums that some features are shitty and are gonna break the game they havent even played in any way are clueless.
Its not a feature that is shitty, its THE feature, and its not shitty, its complete GARBAGE. Please, we are not alienated or stupid, we don't need to play the game to actually know what works or don't. Either way, i've already said why this will ruin D3 economy, apparently you missed.

The RMAH will be the game currency, simple as that, if you sell you item on the goldAH, it will be bought to be re-selled on the RMAH, simple as that. And, as i said, legendary/set items will not be acessible, unless you're willing to pay real money.
Not to mention the fact the goldfarmers will control the AH currency, but that goes without saying.

I get the mods and LAN, but if you don't use the real money auction house the game still works the same way as Diablo 2 or probally Torchlight 2. Unless they are talking about expansion packs, Blizzard isn't really selling anything. Well, seeing as they announced all this shit today, I wouldn't be surprised to hear about a subscription on D3 as well. There were rumors going about subscriptions even for SC2. This doesnt even make sense when you use an ounce of logic. Announce auction house + rumors of subscription for SC2 (when these rumors ended up being entirely false) = OMG D3 WILL HAVE A SUBSCRIPTION Wait, what? No, it doesnt work that way!
When did I say that it will? I was just saying that I wouldn't be surprised if they would add a subscription. Especially considering all the shit Blizzard has been pulling these last few years.
You need some work on your reading comprehension.

I was excited for this game until today, the day I was supposed to go head over heels. The whole RMAH thing is making this a non-purchase for me. I don't know who's apparently making these "Demands." For those of you who relate this to DLC - I don't buy DLC, and if I suspect a game is going to have DLC I don't buy the game. I want to own the whole game, and the whole game should not cost more than the 60 bucks.
I have been just dandy with every change to Diablo 3. I don't care about how they give us the skills, or the classes, or how crafting works. I was going to put another 500 hours into this game. However, now, it's not even worth it. If you aren't a Chinese child/inmate you won't be able to under price enough to sell.
Seriously Blizzard. I've owned every PC game and expansion of yours until now. Have fun in the future, hope we hook up some time.

What's the controversy here? You can buy characters and items for D2 without Blizzards help. It will be the same way in D3. But if Blizzard incorporates it.. then its a catastrophe!
Look Diablo isn't a competitive game on the same level as starcraft. Just play it and enjoy it! If you don't like the AH then don't use it. I won't.
|
I've never played a Diablo game before but I'm definitely interested in playing Diablo 3.
Should I pick up Diablo 2 and try it? Is it worth buying the game? Where is the cheapest place to get D2 and the expansion?
|
Diablo III is gonna be like Formula 1. Whoever spends more money, wins.

Except PvP is not going to be balanced at all and they have said they will be wasting no effort on trying to balance the PvP aspects of the game. So who gives a shit if you can't compete with the idiots buying gear, you won't be able to compete at all. Period. There will be one or two extremely broken classes / team compositions and that will be the end of it.
