Idea for this thread comes from frenchman Taiche. Basicly from now on I'll be adding a link to any threads that contain good advice whenever I spot one. Threads will be listed by matchup. Hopefully it will become a handy list in time.
I'll post either interesting specific threads because I like them, or frequently asked newbie questions because I don't want them to be asked again
Microing a reaver dropI usually hate it when people "discuss" micro because it's something you should probably just practice and learn by yourself, but damn this is one gem of a post by legionnaire
Tactics and StrategyIllintar posts a quality read about the balance between strategy and tactics, and how it relates to the flow of a game in BroodWar.
I'm sure this will prove to be useful to both noobs, as it will be easier for them to find quality advice, and average gamers, as topics in the strategy forum won't be as repetitive. Thanks for keeping an open mind and taking others' proposals into consideration.
hmm there are only 23 pages of strategy threads. it'd only take a few hours at most to scan through them and pick out the good ones..... someone step up to plate
He can be anything he wants to be. He can be like umm.. this guy I knew in high school, his grandfather invented these little ties they go on the end of salamis. He made millions of dollars, hes sitting on his ass !
Have you thought about compiliing other specific map BOs and strats, such as the nostalgia thread? I seem to remembering there being quite a few of those about a year ago, when the standard maps of today were coming out.
anybody want me to make a pvp thread? that was always my best matchup but nobody ever seemed to want help on it so i ended up saying oodles of shit on pvt and pvz but never pvp.
i've started writing something up for pvp, and it's going to be very very long. oh well who cares, im trying to explain intuition behind things and also trying to account for a lot of adaptation.

r u going to write something about PvT. if so i think it will also be a wonderful things

the strategy forum started when TL was at least 1.5 years old and the brood war forum when it was 6 months old so good strats might be everywhere only a bit outdated
Can someone link me (I'm very stupid) to BigBalls' PvZ and PvT guides please? I know he wrote massive guides on both (I think) and I'd like to bookmark them This would be appreciated ^^
ahh taht one, I did read that once, it's an old one right? I remember thinking it had some really good and some really bad points, I prefer not to add it sorry
just deleted about half of the posts in the lord sight range thread cause i thought it was important that it was discussed and the thread had so much garbage in it.. damn if anyone says i'm not committed now, ban
Grot, maybe you should add the Luna thread - some pretty good discussion in there and with the recent luna popularity things are changin. I noticed another luna thread but it didnt contain the same in-depth discussion.
Very nice thread, But i can say one thing. Do you guys know a Very good PVT PVZ and PVP replay that will help me on lt? Ive gotten lots of em, but i dont know. I just want to know what you guys think.
ok sorry to be rude if this is out of place, but x2fst emphasized rednob's profile on March 23 2005 04:34, over 5 months ago. you have no TVT recommendations yet. you say that people should send specific threads to you if they think they help. i understand that. rednob's profile is too many things to go over.
so, this message is not for grot, but for the rest of you who are good players: why have none of you e-mailed a helpful thread to grot yet on TvT?

Please, if you check any of these threads and find advice useful, please restate it in this thread along with the link so that others will get a chance to see what you saw and understand what you did. Thanks and Good Luck!
why has no good terran player picked one of those links and PM'd it to grot? does no one play TvT anymore? that is the only reason i can think of.
Mmm so if I start a posts about if Sci Vessels are any good TvP early/mid/late game: (EX: emp nexus, drop 2 tanks, and kill nexus in 5 controlled shots.) will that be any useful?
It would be more useful if you kept writting intellectual thoughts in your posts so you get a first hand experience of how a ghost with nukes is supposed to be used.
Well, after reading all of the posts and links given in this thread , I must admit that it was without any doubts - very good idea. Thanks God , we still have many "fresh-thinking" people. Keep the good job up and I will try to suggest something , if I will have more time.
i agree i actually came here to recommend this myself. it was very helpful, now i know what FD and Midas is. i'm kind of out of touch these days. more questions than answers, but good start to playing TvP just from page 1 of that thread.
its actually useful information that people might want to look up
also should be in here was that guide from long ago about mining differences between races..... i mean these aren't pure strategy threads but I thought it would be good to have a reference to them? anyone agree/disagree? is there a better place to hold the links =\
I think that skyglow's thread should go in the TvP section rather than sit at the bottom of the misc ones. Even though there is some TvZ placement, it is really irrelevant to a majority of the topic.
Thanks, fixed. The problem was that it was linked to a specific post, and when the post order changes in a thread, the link was broken.
Yep, one more thing, but the strategy forum is more of a self-moderating forum. Almost nobody gets baned from here for making supid posts.
If people are retarded, they get flamed and ignored. If people do really well, they get respect. If people make super posts, well then post them here and I will add them to the front. I really think we are collecting a solid base of knowledge in that first post. We just need the right people discussing things.
I kinda like this topic about fake lair in PvZ : http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=44739 Advices are good, replays are provided and people discuss without flaming (!). Shows what to do and what to understand from your sair scouting in 1-gate sair builds.
EDIT : and what about this one ? It gives good overviews for beginners, wish I'd have this when I started (hell, I can still read it now, will be helpful anyway)
I dont know if Grot still reads or visit this forums but since there is no tvt strats threads this was a good thread cause of the advice and rep pack mortality gave. Clicky^^ It helps people who arent good at tvt like me.
Well, I used to read the SCLegacy strategies and found out it's for newbies especially those really new in the game. All I need now is the protoss builds, terran builds and analysis on PvZ, PvT, PvP, TvT, TvZ, and TvP
If you're really starting, you shouldn't focus on Build Orders. You need to work on basic things like "how to react to what you scout", "how improving the macro/mutltitasking", etc... You just need the basic builds, so if you play toss, check out BigBalls' guides (cf first post), they will indicate you how to start. I don't know for other races.
hmmm the strategy rivals my own hmm i am excited i will wait for new ones while i try these out and combine them with mine and see if i can push up to 300% instead my regular 200% of strategys... Ha ha! i feel like a new strategist..

I don't understand how people with 2 posts can use the search function, find a really really old thread, take the time to read it, and then bump it when every day it seems like we get 5 new sc2 threads and the OP didn't search. Why can't the newbies just read current threads -_-.

when ppl search and bump theres complaints.....when people make new threads theres complaints.
What's the ettiquite on bumping old recommdned strat threads that are here in the featured thread? I mean some of them are from 2005 and if i want to question tose is it lfine to bump it up 2 years?
"Bump old threads If you have a question (or an important comment) that relates to the original post, then bump away! We want to keep similar advice grouped together to make searching quicker. That being said, if you bump an old thread with “Everyone should read this!” expect to be banned from the strategy section."
