![]() Get it asap in TvZ, you kill Lings faster ![]() Depending on the strat you are using in TvP - keep in mind, getting armor before weapons makes goons kill you in 5 hits instead of 1 ![]()

if you have no confidence in your marine vs lurker micro then get armor, otherwise attack.

-stimmed marines shoot way faster than they will be hit except vs mass cracklings or massively outnumbered by something that shoots slower than rines -attack upg means you kill faster, once uve killed something less stuff is shooting you, so the gain is typically more than armor armor only useful in specific circumstance usually -extra hit vs lurker (medic heal would give u extra hit anwyays -mayve extra hit vs other shit i dunno do the math urself -in the rare case ur rines taking more hits per time than they are giving out, as explained above, when massively outnumbered or cracklings the best examples i think of

The main reason is that when you stim your marines, your medics usually cannot heal them all before you run in and battle, and if you waited that long without a high medic/marine ratio, you would lose your stim anyways. Further, if you DID have a high medic/marine ratio, you woulnd't be dealing that much damage, and I'm pretty sure that elky (one that does use high m to marine ratio) goes attack first. Further, its not nearly as good vs mutalisk and zergling, and ultralisk (hopefully you dont need to get that far in the game), and by the time you deal with guradian, you should have +1 armor anyways. (preferably 2/1 or 3/2) Even I, the micro warrior that cannot kill a lurker with 5 marines believe that marine +attack is better. Just fan out your marines when you deal with lurker and you won't take as many casualties. Edit: I'm not sure of the value of Marines vs Protoss -> a FAST armor upgrade might be good, I don't do that much Marine stuff that is non-Gundam vs Protoss (I like to do unconventional stuff, like fast wraith, so I might test this out more), but attack seems to be mainly better, because even though it would take 5 hits by dragoon and 2 hits by Dark Templar (Dragoon does 20 damage which is halved because a marine is a small unit, therefore it does 10 damage, and it means it would do 9/9/9/9/9 in order to kill a 40 hp +1 armor marine [previous poster wrote this but i'm just clarifying]). But, this becomes quickly obsolete when the protoss gets +1 attack, so it would have to be a build order of like rax rax bay acad or something --. But marimedic is very weak vs protoss anyways because of the fact that Dragoon w/range outrange Marines and they are absolutely ass vs High Templar and Reaver.

This would mean you have the same number of medics and of marines in your army. :| A medic can only heal 1 marine at the same time, and if you're attacking 2 lurkers, they shoot at the same time, with armor no marine dies, without all marine die.

Purpose of marines is to kill alot while not getting killed. so by the time lings and lurkers get close, you run. If you cant run anymore armour isnt gonna help you that much anyways. I guess if you want to plow through sunkens with an early rush, that +armour might be good but +damage is just as good vs sunkens and if he gets too many sunkens/gets tech units/has too many lings by the time you are ready to rush and have to flee you are better of with +damage. You can then stall lurkers or go to base and defend against mutas.
