In TvT, is it a good strat to have 1 factory pumping out tanks and 1 port pumping out wraiths in the beginning? Can you guys give me the ups and downs of this strat? Thanks.

Leaves you wide open to the two basic starts of TvT: Fast goliath drop, as wraith suck vs goliaths, and 1 fac producing tanks probably won't be enough to stop it, especially if he keeps the goliaths coming. Turret/tank, your wraiths are useless, as 1 turret will take out 5+ wraiths, and he'll have more factories out producing your 1fac tank production. However, it might be good if you catch him off guard, and he hasn't made any turrets yet.. but then again, 1 fast wraith doesn't really do enough damage to stop an scv from building.. so might not be so good.

or if he goes 2 port wraith, not as likely as the others, he'll obviously have you overpowered in the air, and thus on the ground too, since tanks don't shoot air

I used to do it for fun - if you go gas first you'll have cloackwraith and siege kinad fast. You can also get a dship pretty soon. I won more than I lost with it.

Its bad vs 2 port wraith.

yeah i just did it...it seemed to me if i got my gas on 12....i ran short on gas because i went cloak with siege...i think itll work better with gas before rax...im still testing this strategy out

i dont usually fast expo against terran because since most terran players fly their barracks aruond ur base then they can tank ur ledge or drop harass

1 fac 1 port is good v any build that doesnt involve anti air, which basically doesnt exist in high skilled tvts, so it sucks. fast expo is safe in the fact u wont die early, its unsafe in the fact that it sucks as a build

hahahahahahahahaahaha, the whole point of early expo is to make them try to take cliff / attack early and you can still defend it, and then take the advantage mid game once you have more money and equal guys

I've noticed pros using the 1 fac 1 port build a lot lately... they did on the nada vs xellos game, both went for that build and both added more ports and facts after exp or something like that, it seems to be a good build... some pro korean raped me with it when i played him on wgtour and tvt is my best mu -.-

why would you ever do that, when you can do 2 fact and 1 port.

The cost of 3-4 wraiths is the same as an extra factory and 2 goliaths.

Wraiths in small numbers aren't exactly powerful, it's like getting small amounts of mutas or something.
