Is it possible to beat a decent protoss by relying heavily on infantry? I know heavy metal is usually used vs protoss. Do you need a lot of micro to use bioterran vs. protoss?

No u just need ur opponet to be either stupid or unable to use psionic storm. It is useable only on maps poor on gas as a suprise strategy. Another option is a bio-tank rush.

ive seen people win games with it, albeit perhaps because they werent playing pro, but it did work

the only best use to go fully bio is if they 2gate zeal rush you and its 12v3/6v9

pros do use this strat : i remind of Control vs Reach and Midas vs Reach where both of them beated Reach with a biomechanic build ( for midas it was rather a surprise rush into contain whereas fo control it was fast multi into 8 rax 2 facts )

early game rush (when you have 3 tank with seige plus about 20 m&m) can be ok but if they went reaver you're fucked and if they went 2 gate you would probably lose if they put their goon or probe in front of your base so they know its coming, some tosses when they see m&m build support bay instantly so you need to attack fast and kill probes (or stop expansion if they started an early one) or something, its been said many a time but you really need to do some significant damage to have a chance later on. Once toss have reaver or storm your mm are next to useless and they will have more than ewnough goons to kill the reduced amount of tanks youll have

Few rack fast rush, biomech rush, fast exp => earlier push. It should work best vs early robo/expand, anything w/o large number of goons or fast dt. Fast exp into biomech rush I can imagine working only vs "make some goon, obs, be safe, see t exp, exp twice and add mass gate" type of thing. All bio builds suck vs dts, temps, masses with speedlots unless they are dumb. Transition to mech is often necessary, if game won't end earlier.

Hmmm, it really depends on how you play it. About the early on damage, if you can go up his ramp its fine but dont try forcing it too much ( dont lose your medrine force by trying so ), but stopping him from expoing is already fine, if he should go reaver camp in your base until tank, vs templar get vessels with emp, also never forget upgrades if you pretend to go all game with this strategy. Dont get me wrong, I dont think its a good strat, but sometimes when your gas was stolen it can work well.

I remember that game Boxer vs Foru on Gulliotine, when Boxer walled in and built ~12 m&m force + ~4 tanks in secret.. The VOD was superb, especially when commentor began shouting madly when one tank shot killed ~8 probes! That GEE-GEEEEE scream is still in my ears

It's not bad on rampless maps as Guillotine, but if there's a ramp, he can just stall with mass goon on ramp and get DT or Reaver, both killer vs MM.

DuSkie, read the thread, it has been said that Reach has lost to couple players with this.

Eri used this on Luna vs Clawson, and got beaten pretty bad. Though he didn't use it whole game.
It takes a fool to remain sane.

vults are faster/more mobile, no gas envolved to make medics, no extra minerals to build rax, plus 3 free mines, and can easily dodge storm, thats it..
so why go bio when you can have vults? only adv i can think of is they are a little effective against goons or when P canon zealots you early or maybe builds an asimilator in your base.. thats it!!!
if not fuck bio...

On the other hand, players that think "out of the box" and try different strats does often end up winning.

And I dont think m&m+Tank is as bad as you say in tvp; They can be pretty good vs a zealot/goon. problem is when it comes to protoss tech. Early game it can be useful. If its done by an experienced player that is.
