Since the custom maps forum has been dead lately outside of bots bumping random posts from 2013 I figured why not make a forum post for an actual new map? (well kind of). Who knows, maybe people outside of just the Mapper's Circle discord peeps will see it here.

This map is a submission for an upcoming community held contest to remake maps from early Wings of Liberty. Hence, Sweltering Sands is my more modern take on the map
Blistering Sands. The only real constraint being that the maps must be an identical size to the original. Outside of that, I kept a lot of features from the original, but I added the ability to destroy the xel'naga towers.While I felt they were too much of a core feature of the map to remove entirely, I also felt they kind of have insane coverage here. Sweltering Sands also has an extra 4 bases over the original (Blistering had 8), this may seem like a lot to shove in, but as we know 12 bases is still a small amount for a Legacy of the Void map.
Bounds: 138x110 (Same as Blistering Sands)
Rush Distance: 33 seconds ramp to ramp
Bases: 12 total (10 standard, 2 golds)
Features:
- 2 very powerful xelnaga towers that can be destroyed via the cooling towers
- Backdoor entrances to the main complete with line of sight blockers
- a rich base with offset rocks blocking the way
- A very blueshift style middle in terms of the rocks initially turning the map into separated lanes

An entirely default texture set as I felt it would be fitting. Totally wasn't just me being lazy, what are you talking about? besides mar sara ex2 set is one of the few default texture sets that looks good!
