How to watch Vod with the subtitle 1. I am only providing subtitle files, so you must have VODs downloaded on your computer.
2. Names of both files must match and they must be in a same folder.
For exmaple if you want to watch "GosuVSNoob.wmv", the name of subtitle must be "GosuVSNoob.smi"
3. Try to change the extension of subtitle to txt.
Ex) Boxer_Yellow.smi -> Boxer_Yellow.txt
4. If you cannot see subtitles. Turn on the subtitle option of your media player. If nothing works, try to get newest version of the player or try different media players.
5. Try Taiche's link (http://www.urusoft.net/products.php?cat=sw〈=1) and download Subtitle workshop.
You can either watch vod & subtitle with the program or convert smi file to another (ssi, adobe format, real player etc etc..)
6. Select both files together and open them together
Any suggestion or correction Open the smi file with notepad / wordpad / subtitle editor, then you will see bunch of lines with numbers and actual subsitles.
Correct the sentences that don't make sense / Korean-English / Run-on-sentences and PM me with corrections.
Special thanks to FireBlast! for giving advice and corrections of my subtitles
COPY RIGHT THINGY I don't mind sharing and spreading my humble subtitle files. If more people can enjoy SC Vods, I will be really glad.
But at least,
1)Let me know you are going to share my files 2)When you upload my files on other servers, be sure to mention the author (Bard) and Team Liquid (http://www.TeamLiauid.net)
They are just poorly traslated text files, but I must spend good amount of time to make them.
So at least, give me a credit of making those subtitles and Team Liquid for hosting files and giving me opportunity.
Nice job, Bard I've read your site and there's a tool I can recommend : Subtitle Workshop. It's very easy to use and I haven't seen better for subtitle synchronization. It lets you preview your subtitles along with the movie and has many options. Moreover, it's freeware ! Official website : http://www.urusoft.net/products.php?cat=sw&lang=1
Ah, sweet, many thanks Bard. I have the subtitles for the Joyo/Boxer game which I really like, and I look forward to trying your Boxersinger vs oov/guy when I get home. ^_^

Yes, you need both of them. Put them in the same folder, and name them the same thing (except fot their extention.
Now, I need help getting this to work. BSPlayer doesn't recognize the file type.
For those who are having trouble to see subtitles, try VobSub. For converting files from one format to another or to make any modification to a subtitle file, try Subtitle Workshop (see my previous post on page 1).
I also highly recommand Media Player Classic. WMP-like freeware, no installation, just a simple .exe file. It's lighter and better than the original one. For subtitles you just have to do File > Load Subtitles.
BSPlayer wouldn't recognize it. I tried Media Player Classic, but when I went to load the file, it gave the following error message:
To load subtitles, you have change [sic] the video renderer type and reopen the file. -DirectShow: WMF7 or WMR renderless -RealMedia: Special renderer....
1. GOM Player (this is what most korean people use) 2. Windows Media 9 3. Subtitle Workshop
subtitle works with all these three programs
i am sorry, ihatett, you are still having trouble -_-;;
i guess just mess around your mdeia players.. try to upgrade / downgrade, try different ones, turn on subtitle option, name them simple(1.wmv, 1.smi).. hope you fix it soon
In normal media player, I can open the subtitle by itselft (it shows bard's beautiful text), but not the vod. When I load the VOD, and check the option to show subtitles, nothing happen. Did anyone else encounter and fix this problem?
About the BSPlayer, I downloaded it, but it does not allow me to "Show Subtitles". When I load them up, it says "No Subtitles" on the player. I'm so sad I have not been able to watch them

Same thing here, and I even have the file as both an smi and a txt.

awesome! I don't care for the posts on here like "DO SUCH AND SUCH MATCH FROM KPGA" or whatever but I would however like to make a suggestion. On the Highlight Videos thread there are a few instructional videos from a few stars like Nada, Yellow, Marine. I think we're all a little curious what information they give on those. I don't know if they were in your plans or if you're just focusing on current events, but I think it would be cool to have subs for those. Reguardless, thanks again for all the hard work you've done for the TL community. We're all very grateful.
bah i'd like to see it but i cant download the 2on2 VOD Boxer & Singer VS. Oov & Handballer, the vodhub isnt working for me due to my router which doesnt have a nat table=[ is there any other place where i can download it?
On May 05 2005 08:57 Mouriner wrote: I think it would be awesome to see boxer vs oov game 4 finals subtitle! The game is short, so i dont think it ll spend a lot of time!
aha good idea.. i am working on Midas vs Kingdom (Ever League Week2 i guess) game now.. it's almost 30 min game.. little boring and subtitling is going slow
if u ll do a 30 min game, make the subtitle of boxer vs july msl! hehehe Sry, i am a boxer fan! I like reach a lot too, but reach vs nada and reach vs oversky werent very exciting...
But Bard, I think from now on it would be best to only Subtitle hugely requested games or recent great games between big names (like Allstars Yellow Nada game 2) It would greatly reduce your workload and a better use of your time than doing boring forgotten games.
By the way, I'm in the progress of translating the "How to" games by Sync, NaDa, TheMarine and Yellow onto Word documents if you(or anyone else) are willing to help make them into subtitle files. I don't know how to make subs and I don't have too much time due to exams T.T.
What website did you download the July vs. GF games from? The ones from YY and Bettingcraft started earlier then the subtitles, thus the "the game has started" quote about one to two minutes into the game.

Hmm, I think they were the ones from the torrent, because I recall that's where I got my game from, and the subtitles worked fine on game 5.

Lucky I got the one off the Tracker. If someone was out of luck and got the YY or Bettingcraft version, is there a way to modified the subtitle to be in sync with the video. Without editing each quote line by line?

maybe you could use a video editing program and simply cut the beginning of the other VODs? Can't recommend anything though, Virtualdub might work perhaps. Also you'd need to know where to cut.

Gogo media player classic yo.
And Bard...
1) Fix the Link,
2) Don't thank me and someone named "Tubster" when I referred to myself like that. T_T
pusan storms pretty bad imo. It seems like he just throws them out as fast as possible. He storms his own units and overlaps many storms with multiple temps wasting mana.

PS Painter, I have the same problem. Use media player classic. Run -> mplayer2
Thanks alot. learning something new everyday.
Watched the vod with subs now and I have to say that was a nice move when the arbitor was coming out. Boxer sensing the danger by Pusan's lack of defending so boxer fiegned an attack and resieged forcing pusan to attack froom downhill. When pusan wasted his early game goons then countered boxers attack with probes goons and a few zealot I thought it was futile buy he stopped it. that was really amazing.

Umm....almost everyone knows that
But even if they do mine faster (which is questionable), he was saying that is the reason toss expands faster and more than a Terran.... the real reason is the cost effectiveness of T units vs P units.
Thanks for the 3 boxer vs pusan subtitles. They made the VODs so much more enjoyable! I'm eagerly waiting for the next 2 game subtitles. Keep up the good work!
Wow. I'm amazed at how interesting and informative these guys are; they definitely know their job. Thanks for the incredible translation job! I just watched the first three Boxer - Pusan matches with my dad last night and had a great time; I hope the 5th one arrives soon.
I have a few questions, though. What's "FD Terran" and "Refugee Protoss"?
Tell you what -- teach me Korean and I'll help you with the subtitles
On November 08 2005 14:07 ShadowMaster wrote: I have a few questions, though. What's "FD Terran" and "Refugee Protoss"?
FD terran is, I guess, the now classical tanks/marines/spidermine upgrade build into fast expo. Not really sure what the letters stand for, tho.
Refugee Protoss, hmm I guess that mostly fits to island/semi-island maps: constantly expanding/defending/rebuilding while attempting to slowly take (back) control of the game. Maybe also involves some air (mostly carrier) harrassment during the process.
i'm fairly sure FD terran stands for: Fake gundam Dual command... somehow it makes me think of "Fast Death" terran even though thats definitely not what it stands for or does -_-
they sortof explain refugee toss in the commentary too hehe pretty cool
Yeah, sorry for taking so long on Game 5, I'll try to have it finished up by tonight. Everyone please give another round of thanks for our little Korean Guy, he's put a lot of time/work into these. ^_^

Yeah, he was in love with the game from the moment he heard Siege Tanks firing about 6 years ago. Though his skill level never increased beyond the struggle to beat a Comp, he has become a real fan of the game (through me, mostly) and we have spent a lot of time watching great replays and, recently, VODs together. I just can't get him to change his Terran-loving ways, though; he never did learn to recognize the Zerg or Protoss structures, and has his own names for many of the units: Flying Shrimp Slugs Big Crabs Elephants Spitters etc. Yeah, he rules

Heh, gotta love those unit names. You should try and get him to commentate to you a PvZ. That would be hilarious. Also, I wish my dad would fall in love with games besides Pokemon Puzzle League ><

He seems to be the only one! I'm still seeing a lot of misspellings that a REAL editor would never miss =]
Also FD Terran simply means Factory Double, referring to what we call a 1-fact early expand. They even explain it.
I anxiously wait game 5. Great work BARD! I hope Boxer vs Anytime Finals will be subtitled next. C'mon, it's BOXER man!

OMG. Pokemon Puzzle League (same as Tetris Attack)! 3> That's my favorite puzzle game, but unfortunely there is no one to play it with. Can you father create a combo with blocks filling up the screen? The best I can get is 3x combos

hey Bard, thx thx thx THX a lot You have no Idea of how cooler the games turned out to be now that I know what they are talking hehe
I can't seem to get the first Boxer vs Pusan subtitle to work. The first game on 815. The first lines seems to work allright ('Subtitles created by Bard' etc), but when the commentators starts to speak, they speak for 30 seconds before the subtitles begin appearing. The size of the vod I'm using is 192.031.955 byte and its the one from Heavens FTP server.
Is it the wrong VOD? (Yeah, its game 1, I know that, but perhaps there are more than 1 version)

Bard mentioned earlier that he subtitle the VODs that appear on TL.net tracker. If there are timing problems (subtitle out of sync with audio) then there is a way to readjust the subtitle to match the audio. Its in this thread somewhere. I suggest going backwards instead of from the beginning . Hope that helps.

I'm gonna use my virgin post to thank you for the great work on the subtitles. Having previously only heard Whacksteven's commentary I didn't believe the commentary could really add value to watching the game, but those koreans know what they are talking about.
What happend to the Anytime vs Boxer subs? I am still trying to keep myself from watching the VODs so that i wont spoil anything until the subs get out. If the do that is.
In all honesty, it may take a while before those come out, I think Bard is very busy nowadays, so I would go ahead and watch the VODs awhile... you can PM him if you want to be sure of course.
Whats up with the oov vs July subs? I'm still looking forward to them with great anticipation. I hope they are done soon coz the really rule beyond all possible comprehension.

And lemme say, even though the games are short, the commentary is very interesting. ^_^

Well I posted slightly before that happened. Either way I wacthed the first game now. Great job Bard. That introduction with Might vs Power sure was funny ^^
I didn't know vods were so much more fun with subtitles. Too bad there aren't any more of them. It must be a lot of hard work to translate all of it... they talk so fast.
But please! Someone should make more subtitles for recent vods T_T
[Edit]On a side note: since the topic creator is probably gone, editing power should be given to another user that wants to manage this. Which means he should create a new topic. Which means this was a useless bump T_T.
Yes, but seriously, it adds a whole new dimension to it. At least for me. If it's as much fun for other people, I'd be perfectly willing to do like 1 VOD / week at least. If I could speak Korean T_T
And even if you do 1 / month, I'd be happy. You know. It's better than nothing. I just wanted to ask real nicely because it really makes the vods much more fun.
Well, since this thread did get bumbed, does anyone know where I can find the VODs themselves that go with the July vs Goodfriend 2005 subs on page 1? I downloaded the games from broodwar.de, but they were just the game, while the subtitles all included pre-game commentary. The result was the subs being 5-10 minutes off. Much thanks for any help.
I found 2004 Ever Final Game 4 Boxer Vs. Oov on youtube. Save as a "whatever.flv" file though since it defaults to no extension at all. Same story, VLC can play it with subs.
Hey guys, I'm bumping this thread because I'm having a hard time finding the VODS that go with these subtitles. I just found out about this thread a little while ago, and after seeing the recent subtitled games I'm dying to see these old ones also. I don't think the VODS are on tracker anymore, and I was having a hard time finding the right ones on TLPD. I'm not even sure if the TLPD ones will synch up. If anyone could help point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is a really dumb question, I'm not too tech savy.
