The specs are the specs, you can't argue that!
Actually most (if not all) audio specs (at least the ones claimed by manufacturers) are made up. Well not made up, but they use really "funny" ways of interpreting what their products can do (like when to stop counting frequencies in the product's range, isolation levels, sounds pressure, etc).
So careful when choosing headphones out of specs!

I still stand by my original reply. i don't get the point of gaming headsets. just buy a good pair of headphones and a desk mic. you can use your headphones for more than just gaming at home, you get great sound quality, and there is nothing wrong with desk mics...

Steelseries 4H, Insane good microphone qual

I really like my sennheiser px100s, although I'm using a tabletop USB mic, which can be a pain. The px100s are really really nice, and about ~40.

Koss SB/45, confortable to wear, good sound, good mic and very good sound isolation.

Sadly enough though high price doesn't always = the quality you thought it was When i first got my G35 i had one that was PID lower then 943 which had a defect on some usb controllers which would cause feed back on certian motherboards, what would that result in, a high pitched humming sounds when you used the mic only on the right ear. In other words the mic caused interference with the speakers when in use.
Also i got mine for $90 online sale biznatches.
Luckily logitech is great customer service i didn't even need my receipt they sent me the prepaid ups shipping crap, i shipped it away about 10 days later a new one that doesn't have that defect and couldn't be happier.
G35 surround is exceptional along with it's stereo.
Although it's 7.1 lol it's more like 5.1 but either way you can tell the directions of things very well.

siberias have always done well for me. Just got the newer siberia v2 after going through about 3 pairs of siberias before that. Icemats are so nice for all gaming, esp. FPS.

O.o
how long did it take for u to break 3 pairs of headset?
|
I had a pair of siberias for like 4 years, never had any issues with them. They could of been a bit more comfortable but I think that has to do with my larger than average head rather than the actual headset. I recently upgraded to Astro A40's with the mixamp and couldn't be happier, these things sound great and the mixamp is so worth it so I can switch seamlessly between my 360 and PC. I've heard about people breaking them but I also heard about tons of people breaking their Siberieas, its all about taking care of your things and I'm sure these will last me quite a while.

Are there any good headsets that work with both PC and XBOX 360? I'm trying to cut down on the amount of redundant possessions I own.

astrogaming.com
I have a pair of the A40's and they work great, have them hoooked up to both my PC and Xbox at the same time so I don't have to switch the cords when I want to switch to Xbox or back to PC, they are a bit pricey but I'd say they're well worth it.

Get a pair of Audio Technica a700's and a snap on cord mic.
|
The big issue for me with headsets and sound cards is that my headphone cord doesn't reach my sound card area tt
Any suggestions? It forces me to use onboard sound because the plug is closer, and its terrible quality.
Rocking a pair of AT-ES7's, btw

Does anyone know if Razer Megalodon works well on mac? I use Mac most of the time as I use it for music work, and like to play StarCraft there. Even though they don't have Mac drivers, will it still give me simulated 7.1 sound in games like SC2?

I have been using these Sennheiser HD212s and I have to say that they have been nothing short of amazing so far.

I recently bought SteelSeries 5H only 2-3 months ago, the wires have already gone dodgy on me :/
can anyone recommend a real cheap option headset but still decent quality?
BTW i had siberia before 5h. problem with Siberia is its only headphones it comes with some cheap clip microphone not build in one

I've always been hard on my headsets, usually their life was 4 - 6 months. (yup... pretty bad)
I'd been using cheaper headsets (Logitech gaming ones), even owned a pair of $300 razer gaming head phones... all of them died very quickly. Few months and mic stopped working, bit later and one side of the sound stopped working...
For Christmas I'd gotten the Sennheiser 161's and well... they are still working 100% so far, best headphones I have ever owned by far.
- Amazing sound - Amazing quality - Mic still working 100%
Recommend to ANYONE.
I'm hard on headphones and these will last a normal person FOREVER.
