Oh no, USB mics or headsets are no no for me, if you launch the game before you plug in your USB peripheral, the game won't detect it and you have to relaunch the game, such a hassle. I'd rather just use analog connectors; you don't have to relaunch the game and you can hook it up to your soundcard, so you'll get all the benefits from it.

My roommate and I have been using this one for almost a year now with no problems. Sound quality is good (mic and headphones), although I'm no audiophile. Big ear cups makes it comfortable, doesn't make your ears sore after a long gaming session. Very sturdy mic as well. Get the gamecom 777 instead. I have had one for the last year, and have been quite satisfied with it.

Sennheiser PC-350 and Logitech G35 were the most highly recommended. I think I'm going to get the PC-350 refurbished because I cant afford $150 for a headset ![]() Did u test the HPX (aka HPA2)? Steggy described the 350's mic as talking underwater and Pat said as if u were on an airplane. Personally, I like the idea of removing the mic, and 350s don't allow you to do that. I still recommend the HPX. source: http://www.overclock.net/sound-cards-computer-audio/601982-astro-a40-vs-sennheiser-pc-350-a.html

Having used HD555's and currently owning HD650's myself I can tell you they're not overpriced. You do get what you pay for. Especially the HD555's now. They're fairly cheap and give better sound than almost anything in their price range, granted they're not really for gaming. As for their gaming stuff, it's all pretty decent for the prices. It's just not for everybody. The PC161/160 are great. =) I can also vouch for the HD555s. I have 2 sets now, and they're amazing. I use them for the guitar amp, gaming afterhours, and for porn. Waitwat.` As for mic, I have a shitty $2 piece of crap. It's awful. But then, it was fine for PUG'ing on TF2. Might have to get a nice one for Vent SC2. But then, who am I kidding, I don't have any friends to talk to. ![]()

Not to mention that if you're at a LAN party, the HD280's clamping feature make them have sick ambient noise attenuation. You wont hear anything else besides your game, even if a baby is crying right next to you. Helps me focus.

The 518 is simple, light, cheap, sturdy, and has everything anyone in their right mind would need. Unless you can find an MX500 on the cheap, 518 is the way to go: source: http://www.esreality.com/?a=longpost&id=1265679&page=1 This article is a little old, but much of it remains true i.e. the G5 is a piece of shit (mine sucked, my room mate's G5 sucked, and his gf's G5 sucked). . . I got mine before I read the article, so I wasn't fairly warned, and my roommate was trying to do a favor for a friend by buying two G5s off him. Ugh. POS mouse.

As for which one to get, I'd say it depends on how much you want to spend. the Siberias are about $50, and HD555s are around $100 if you can get a good deal. I would recommend either of them to anyone for just about any purpose. However, one thing to note is that the HD555s are considerably worse at blocking out surrounding noises, and their open ear architecture projects the sound coming from the headphones pretty well so people around you can usually hear what you're listening to.

its a cheap headset. I like it, and it has a better mic than the razer one (steel snake, flexible.) not the mic, the thing that connects the mic to he headset.
