http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=n82e16826265065 I've gone through my share of cheap headsets ($30-$40) and these are the best ones I've found in that price range. My roommate and I have been using this one for almost a year now with no problems. Sound quality is good (mic and headphones), although I'm no audiophile. Big ear cups makes it comfortable, doesn't make your ears sore after a long gaming session. Very sturdy mic as well.

Having used HD555's and currently owning HD650's myself I can tell you they're not overpriced. You do get what you pay for. Especially the HD555's now. They're fairly cheap and give better sound than almost anything in their price range, granted they're not really for gaming. As for their gaming stuff, it's all pretty decent for the prices. It's just not for everybody. The PC161/160 are great. =)

The Senheisers PC350 surpasses everything and is well worth the price. However I have yet to try the new headphones Razer released. I doubt they will beat the PC350.

The HD555 are pretty munch the best open world gaming headset, ideal for tournaments and LANs for team based game where communication is key.

Ofc the cable goes but you can replace that replaced mine once for like $10 and the cushions have finally gone a bit after so many years but gonna replace those soon too. Edit: For my mic I use the Logitech USB Microphone which has noise cancelling in built. So so good. Its so good I can blast music out of my speakers and near magically it still only pics up my voice directed towards it.

I just use the Razer Moray. Canada computers have it for $40. You would probably needed really good headphones for FPS games.

they're pretty terrible tbh, with a preamp or otherwise. I can't really recommend AT equipment.. Sennheisers are a little overpriced for the quality, but for a gaming headset you can't really get better than PC350s for a decent price.
