While this thread is labeled "DotA2", this is in fact a community thread first. Many of the users in the TL LoL subforum have been playing as friends for over a year now, so it makes logical sense that they would want to play other games together. Do not compare DotA2 to LoL, you will get banned. TL LoL veterans know what is expected. Newcomers be warned. gl hf

Advantages are the pressure you put on the opposing lane, and the threat that your 2 non-carries in the trilane are always able to be roaming for ganks after they've established lane control(unless you are trilane vs trilane you can't risk going to see where they are, you'll just die) The disadvantages are the farm/xp you give up, although it's not as bad as you may think because 2 supports together can do great work with creep pulls, and clear much of the jungle together to make up for splitting so much/not taking xp+cs from the actual lane. The other disadvantage is that you obviously leave an extra solo, so your team is 'forced' into a pick that will probably be battling a duo/trilane themselves. It's not used in LoL because the lack of denying, shortness of the lanes, and the way the jungle works make the tradeoffs not worth it. You can't exert the same amount of pressure/denial on a lane in LoL(they can sit at a more powerful tower and wait for the creep wave, it will eventually come), and you are giving up your jungle to do so(can't creep pull, and 2 supporty champs are going to be awful at clearing it).

The real reason you don't like the guides is because they don't suggest Jjango on every STR semi-carry/carry. ADMIT IT. Psh, just strength carries? More like every carry, You can go Janggo on any hero and it would never be wrong. @Spud: TBH those kinds of ward guides are sort of information overload for someone just starting out. The hard part about warding isn't knowing where the ward spots are, but rather using the few limited wards you have efficiently. If you're considering low level pubs where nobody is going to be counterwarding, the number of practical ward spots goes down a lot because a lot of them are less useful and are only good insofar as they're less likely to be counterwarded. "Welcome to DotA, You Suck" should be required reading though.

First, does anyone else get really frustrated by the ~200ms input lag after playing LoL? Second, I was wondering if people would be up for a thread or something that compares DotA hero skills to LoL champ skills....I know one of the writeups had something similar but it was nowhere near complete and nowhere near detailed enough. For example, for anyone wanting to try out Rikimaru, you can compare him to Eve with his ult and leave it at that, but it also helps by describing his other skills as Shaco's backstab bonus damage, Akali's shroud (except it silences as well), and a blink like Katarina's (to friendly or enemy).

There isn't 200ms input lag, there was when beta first came out but it's no longer the case Like I mentioned earlier in the thread it's most likely the case that you aren't used to turn speeds on heroes.

I tried to blink dagger -> E -> R as Enigma and probably looked like the most retarded person in the world because I held shift down, realized my blink didn't work, blinked manually, tried to shift+E/R without clicking again and just stood there and died. T_T PS: Furion jungle so much fun. You're kinda a bastard child between Maokai and TF. Also you can troll yourself and your team all day with sprout. <3

For Blink Dagger in particular they changed it for 1 patch so that double-pressing the hotkey would blink you to your mouse pointer (effectively smartcast), but then they reverted it for some reason (i liked the functionality a lot personally--more useful than the old implementation, where it blinks you in the direction of the fountain). It is literally impossible to not have farm as Furion lategame, so as soon as you hit 3, you should be ganking pretty much whenever your Teleport comes off CD (and sometimes without it--if you get a good rune or the short lane is overextended). Also, don't max E first. You only need rank 2 to do pretty much any camp, so max Teleport first after that.

Cheers. <3 So e.g. for the Enigma scenario the correct thing is Blink Hotkey, click shift E click shift R click. So much work. <3 Speaking about Hotkeys, I currently have my items on TZU/GHJ but I'm not sure if there are better ways. I changed space to select my own hero and I use my thumb mouse button for voice. Also I'm scared to map 1-6 for Items since I assume that might bite me in the ass later down the road. Any suggestions? What are standard setups to copycat?

Why is 1-6 bad? When I started playing LoL, I had just came from SC2 so they seemed intuitive :S

Having a 20 second TP is really disgustingly strong, and you want to get to that point as quickly as you possibly can. Having 2nd rank E gets you there faster because it lets you do some of the harder jungle camps, but after that you should just get the points in W. Hotkeys are always a super weird thing to handle, because you have to balance between unit hotkeys and item hotkeys. Right now, I'm using 23Z/56X, but that's because I got used to using 1 and 4 for hero/courier (because I start BW games with 4 as CC and 1 as scouting SCV). I also rebound CVB to be control group hotkeys for when I need those, but I don't play many multi-unit control heroes so I usually only use the C for grouping all my Broodmother Spiderlings or something. On March 04 2012 18:22 r.Evo wrote: Any suggestions? What are standard setups to copycat? Most of the pro setups I know are with the legacy keys--so it's really not that useful (many of them use Q because that's not bound to any skills in the legacy keys). I remember one Chinese pro using something like Tab/~/Q/2/F1/F2, so that everything surrounds 1, which he hotkeyed to his hero. You could probably bind mouse 4 or mouse 5 instead of Q for that setup. ZXC are also commonly used for items. If I weren't so used to my current setup (and was using a mouse with mouse4/mouse5 rather than my LMO), I would probably use 2/Mouse4/Mouse5/Z/X/C. You could also probably do 123/ZXC and still be easily able to use 4-0 for unit hotkeys. On March 04 2012 18:26 LAN-f34r wrote: Why is 1-6 bad?
