So there's this new indie action RPG game called Bastion which has been getting a lot of attention and it looks pretty good
It seems to play like your typical action RPG in a 2D isometric style where you play as "The Kid" but the really cool thing is how there is a badass narrator that says everything that is going on as you do it on the go
For example it would go something like "Kid pops him good" after killing an enemy
Trailer - it doesn't give a way a whole lot
Here's some gameplay to show you what I mean about the narrating
Ya, I saw this a few days ago before it was going to PAX. Love the style and commentary on what you are doing. I'd imagine it will be on Steam, which I will have to check it out then.
I played this game on 360. I thought it was fun! Nice music, story, graphics and combat. It can be very challenging if you want it to be (you can't set the difficulty level before you start, but there is a system built in to the game that let's you buff the enemies. turning on all the buffs makes it hard!). There are some fun side challenges but if you upgrade your weapons then you trivialize most of them, so I suggest trying to do them with minimal upgrades.

Bastion is being released on steam tomorrow for 14 euro. Don't know if I will buy it at release or wait for steamsale when its 25-75% off. But I'm definitely going to buy it this year.
There is a ton of content in the game, I replayed it twice so far and for the Steam release I'm getting it again. Its just so much fun, and great value for a 15dollar downloadable.

I played this on 360 as well, it was a great game. What stood out to me the most was definitely the music, all the songs had a lot of thought clearly put into them and they were very well done. I actually ended up buying the soundtrack, http://supergiantgames.bandcamp.com/ if anyone else is interested.

Zero Punctuation liked it... so.. that must say something about the game XD!

Yeah i buyed it after yahtzee recommended it, and its really awesome. The combat and upgrading mechanics are fun and the music was reeeeally good, but what made the whole game for me was the narrator, never saw anything like that before.
Definitely looks like a cool game. Saw it on one of the Steam headliners a few weeks ago. The narration and mechanics of the game are awesome, no doubt, but I think that what really makes this game unique is the backdrop. All of the graphics are hand painted, giving them that unique look. Pretty cool feature to say the least.
A great game. I played it on 360 as well. The idol system used to buff the enemies turns what can be kind of a cakewalk into quite a challenge. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for any sort of challenge.

10-12 hours I think for 1st playthrough.
I really liked this game. my only real complaint is that since I didnt have on subtitles I would miss a lot of what the narrator was saying because i was too focused on the action lol.
