but i still recommend trying challenges with as few tricks and upgrades as possible. if it seems possible with your current setup, but it's just really really hard, well then enjoy the challenge! i spent like 30 mins each on the repeater and hammer challenges and it was really nice when i finally got them!

Nice trick, I used it to get the damage achievement thing with the hammer but I didn't think of doing that for the repeater and pistols. Still, I don't understand how hammer took you so long. I've tried repeater a ton of times but hammer took me 3 or 4 tries to get it down. I guess you didn't upgrade it first?

+ Show Spoiler + the moment where I knew I was really playing something for the ages was the level where you find Zia. It was wonderful to realize I was dealing with a moment of aesthetic contemplation which played out on the level of protagonist (the kid) and player (me). There are some narrative flaws, but they are easily overlooked in favor of the game's overwhelming positive elements. I want to say this game is (one of the few) truly representative of video games as a medium capable of delivering meaningful narratives and providing worthwhile artistic expression while remaining a fundamentally interactive and "fun" experience.

If you want a real challenge, do the memory-missions with all the idols on, pretty damn hard. Can be pretty frustrating unfortunately, luck does play a part with all the idols on. I'm currently considering training a speedrun of the game, might be fun. certainly has enough categories and a high enough skillcap for SDA to like it. I have to do some testing to see what tricks I can abuse, but I'd definitely stream it if people expressed interest.

All of the enemies have animations that tell you when you can get a counter off, so once you learn those they're easy. Hell, I might even help you plan for it (but I'm not done with it yet so not right now )

I guess you didn't upgrade it first? yeah i must not have had good upgrades. i needed to do everything so perfectly. not one wasted swing and most things that could be killed by rolling i needed to kill with rolling since it was faster. afaik, every single challenge except the shield becomes trivial with enough upgrades / distillery passives. and every challenge is pretty damn hard (some may be impossible) without any upgrades. so experiences will vary pretty widely. after i beat the shield challenge and got the memorial for beating 7 challenges, i had so much money that future challenges became trivial since i'd upgrade things right away. i think two in a row i got 1st on first try and the next one i got 1st on 2nd try.

+ Show Spoiler + After you learn the story of the war, and how the Ura live underground while Caelandia live high atop walls in their city, go back and listen carefully to Zia's song in the level where you first find her; it means a lot more than I picked up on the first time around. There's some nice foreshadowing done in the dialog as well. Just a really well-written story.

it's a 9/10 for me, not even counting the low prize in.

There are 22 tracks in all, although some are dialogue excerpts rather than proper songs. Well worth it imo. I'd say my favorites were The Bengali sounding strings rule :3 I loved the two individual songs (especially Zulf's theme) but superimposing one over the other and adding some sweet effects makes it sound even awesomer (and I'm a sucker for dem diminished 3rd harmonies :D)!!!!

I am raging at the unfairness. PC gamers shafted again. EDIT: Okay, hold defend and it auto aims. What a waste of an hour.

Like the squirt challenge, run up to the center and kill all the green ones, then finish off the green ones you couldn't get with shift :\ I was trying to beat that without auto-aim and it was pretty ridiculous

That being said, going to play some more right now! Lol no, I have played it over multiple sittings, but my gametime is only about 4hrs played. I think I'm almost done coz I can only upgrade one more building. This game is so sick I don't want it to end!

It seems most of us are sharing the same opinion. I had a few friends get it, nothing but praise and wowing. + Show Spoiler + Played through on newgame+ and I can't help but notice the story hinting at kid being stuck in a endless time loop. "You should remember this part"(When you find Zia in prosper bluff) Perhaps the kid went on a adventure in the past and found Zia. Zulf was maybe related to Zia and this pissed him off and started the war between the Ura? Rucks hints the war was decades ago. Maybe I'm crazy Is Rucks possibly Kid in the future? I also noticed the Crystal Barrette you find in lost and found resembles what is in Zia's hair. You can't talk to her about it, only Rucks and Zulf. Rucks talks about losing a loved one in the calamity. This further hints at what I was saying about Rucks being the kid in the past. Amazing story either way I'm in love. That said is there a actual lore posted somewhere by the devs?

I'm hoping for DLC for new weapons, zones and expansions. Completed the starter zones and 4 others, in addition to the first two weapon challenges (only unlocked the lowest tier item so far). As for this comment, please don't let DLC touch this game with a 10 ft pole. DLC is evil. What this game actually deserves and hopefully will get considering how widely embraced it has become is a full retail release with all the bells and whistles, game length rivaling retail release RPG's, the story more flushed out (It may be difficult to get one person to narrate the whole thing, but you could always get different people for different parts of the game, like they are all telling their part of the story and it forms a whole). As well as some cool new abilities, weapons and some more unique gameplay elements here and there. ^ That of course is all a dream, but it could happen. I haven't been impressed with most of the games I've played lately and even the ones I have (Witcher 2, for one) this game has surpassed in just flat out fun factor.
