That and communing with the spirits of the dead. Science is TOTALLY overrated. I want a degree in Computer Theology. But no, seriously, he's right. And even if something you're told to do doesn't work, it's not always because you were given bad advice, they could just be working their way through a process of elimination. Too many people expect some bizarre guaranteed fix to all PC problems. 99% of the time, it's a combination of a little bit of basic knowledge, prioritizing some guesswork, and finding tests to isolate the components behind those guesses until the issue is found. Yeah, I've been here long enough to know it isn't solved on the first try all the time :p

Now i have not bought the card yet, and will not. So are any of these better? It is gonna be paired up with an Intel Quad Core Q9300 @ 2.5Ghz. And my power supply is 300W The HD5450, HD6450 or the HD6570. Or any other for that matter? Btw since i have a prebuilt, it appears i have no PCI-E power connectors :/

Do you have free molex connectors in your machine? A molex->PCIE adapter should cost around 30 kroner (or less) and will allow you to use more powerful cards.

Can you grab the model number off the sticker?

Odds are you'll need to replace the PSU to upgrade GPU, and even if it could theoretically work, it's probably a good idea to replace it anyway. If it doesn't break the amperages down by rail, it's bad for sure, by the way.

So i start up my pc and everything is fine. I check out task manager and it recognizes the added ram (i had 4GB, added 8GB). During normal low strain use, there are no problems. When i start to do multiple demanding tasks at once though (think of playing tribes ascend with a youtube video on in the background) Youtube crashes, followed by the game i was playing. It went exactly the same way with just running Battlefield 3 campaign. It is fine for a while, but then when i fire my first shot the game crashes. Before i tested this i got 2 BSOD's in a row. Anyone know what might be wrong? Do you have the error code from the BSOD? That could be extremely helpful. It's very possible that one of the dimms has one or more bad memory sectors. When the memory controller goes to access data stored on one of those sectors, it returns corrupted data; possibly causing system processes or services to crash. If that's the case, it could either be a manufacturing defect or if you were not careful could be damage from installation, very possibly caused by static. There are a number of memory test programs out there, you could also try using just two of the dimms at a time to narrow down which one may have the defect.

I removed the RAM from the motherboard, swapped it around, and tried again and it worked fine again, even when i used over 4GB's of RAM. So i removed them again and swapped them again, and all was fine then too. Guess i didn't seat them properly the first time? EDIT: Also, would you mind naming some of these test programs? Just to be sure ![]()

Even a bit of lint or dirt can stop it seating well, or just not pushing it in right. Happens to everyone eventually. Memtest86 off a boot disc is ideal, run it overnight preferably.

It would be horrendously un-productive in 99% of cases anyways. If you wanted to use IRC for it, you'd do better just PMing someone off a regular channel to avoid mixing conversations.

"Lag" denotes a network issue though, not a framerate. So I can't be certain what you mean. There is something called frame lag, but I am guessing thats not what you mean. I am guessing you mean "will my FPS drop to an unacceptable level," in which case I dont know because I dont know what you deem to be acceptable. Since an i5-2320 cant even run the game at 60 FPS the entire time in huge engagements even while not streaming. I guess I should say no? You'll be able to stream 720p pretty well. But we also need to know your network ability, namely your upload.

Well, SC2 is only going to use 2 cores, so as long as you don't let your streaming software use more than 2, you shouldn't significantly affect in-game experience at all. The stream quality will depend on other settings, although changing aspect ratio is going to affect performance pretty significantly, IIRC.

20 FPS is a pretty low framerate though. I guess it could work.
