There is this Lamptron touch controller. Lamptrons tend to have a billion channels, a billion watts per channel, and huge chunky heatsinks on each channel. Fairly pricey though.
Not really a design flaw, but its the corsair 550d.
Any others? That one appears to be 3 pin.
Most have 3-pin headers I think. They're doing voltage control as opposed to PWM control. Are all your fans really 4 pin with PWM control?
IIRC you can just plug in a 4-pin fan into a 3-pin header. Unless there's something really wonky going on with PWM fans that I don't know about...if it's getting something less than +12V on the positive rail, it won't be run at full speeds even if you aren't doing PWM control. So is this a problem to be 3-pin?
You can also look at fan controllers that fit into PCI slots (well the bracket on the chassis) or internal ones like Zalman Fan Mate if you don't need to change the values often.
Reason being I want it to be 4 pin is I dont want to risk it being a closed off 3 pin connector where I would have to cut away at the plastic to let a 4 pin fit.
I can't imagine anybody making a controller panel with some sort of enclosed 3 pin headers that would make it unusable with certain fans. The general idea, with something like that, is to make it as universal as possible. Worst case scenario, if it IS like that, which is obscenely unlikely, you can buy extension cables for stupid cheap.
Timeline: Sometime in the next 3 months, perhaps. Very patient (so says my currently 5/6 year old low budgethardware). I can wait until whatever new shit is coming out (gtx 660/670, if it's relevant)
Budget: No real budget atm. Money is not a huge object. Probably prefer nothing over the top insane (e.g. I will not be splurging on 2011 socket stuff).
Strictly GPU (assuming no bottlenecking elsewhere), what card would be recommended for 1920x1200 resolution (60Hz), for games on the order of SC2/Skyrim to BF3/2033?
What price point would be best here? Is it worth trying to find something that will run 60FPS w/ some AA pretty consistently?
On a related note, what are the best games I've missed in the last 5 years? The last game I was reliably able to play was HL2. Mass effect?
Why are you worried about AA? 1900x1200 implies monitor rather than TV, odds are good your pixel density is high enough that you don't need much AA, and you're obviously not a benchmarking addict. BF3 can't be run maxed at those resolutions on any cheap solution, same with Metro. Skyrim, maxed, includes a high-res texture pack as well, and due to the way the game is designed, can be pretty harsh on GPUs at times.
For cheap maxing/near maxing of games, you're looking at SLI-midrange or cards that we don't have good benches of yet. (Since beta drivers and current drivers for nonexistent cards are shit, you can't predict performance by NDA breaking sites, unless it already surpasses the level you need).
As for "good" games from the last few years, that's kinda subjective, and a lot of the stuff requiring high end graphics performance actually blows on gameplay. It's cheaper to get 3dmark11 and stare at that when you want to see sexy graphics, and play games that are actually fun.
Phar, if you're patient I would wait for the next round of nvidia card launches. Your best bet will probably be something like the 660 or 660 ti. Probably cost between 250 and 320 and run like a current 580. We won't actually know any of this until they launch though, which is supposed to happen sometime in May.

K noted, thanks. I'm not worried about AA, just asking. I've never had hardware capable of actually using it, no idea what it actually looks like (aside from theory and demos).
Can you define "cheap solution"? By cheap, do you mean <=$300? <=$500? <=$1000?

Not to pimp my own blog, but pictures are needed to really explain it, and I covered the AA topic there once. It's enough information that the link is easier.
Quick question, hopefully someone will be able to help me!
Anyone know how to disable sound entirely from the BIOS of a Dell Inspiron 1525? I've searched it high and low and can't find a single thing to related to sound/integrated sound card or anything.

Um.... mind if I ask why?
Hahaha, I just realized how malicious my intentions may appear to some. It's part of a good natured revenge prank myself and my other two roommates want to attempt on our fourth roomie.

I strongly suggest not doing any computer related pranks that you don't already know how to do.

That's a pretty lame prank.
-edit: actually that's a really lame prank.
PART of a prank. Key word being "part". The rest involves him attempting to perform something requiring sound and an inside joke.... thanks?

Good advice actually. Don't want to end up having to buy a new computer cause I fucked something up. Back to the drawing board.

Also, this really isn't the place. Maybe a couple paragraphs of background in a blog post, but I have a hunch most of the other regulars would agree with me that we'd rather not be the source of someone unwittingly damaging a PC.
It's also at the very least in good form to mention the prank part in the first post, for that exact reason.
