Actually Seasonic is kind of known for coil whine issues as well, but maybe not as much as the new CX series. CX400 is a good option, but I'd probably slightly prefer the Earthwatts Green 430D over that, unless you don't have a spare power cord handy. Thanks for the explanation Myrmidon-is there a reason why you'd prefer the Antec over the Corsair? The Corsair has a bigger fan, so maybe better cooler/more quite operation (assuming no coil whine).

right click the video, go into settings and turn off hardware acceleration and then clear the flash player cache

The antec has a better build quality/components and uses a better platform(slightly better electrical performance, thought i gues thats debateable). Besides which, the corsair cx units are slightly overrated(in Watts).

i just bought a new pair of logitech headphones and they make a constant annoying whine. its not very loud but it is present. It seems to give audible feedback whenever i move my mouse around or make boxes. any idea of what this could be?
|
Electromagnetic interference being reproduced through the, I believe its called, the transducer of the headphones.
Try playing with the cords in the back of your computer and making sure your headphone cords arent wrapped around your microphone cord or anything like that.
Should also move your microphone cords away from your headphone cord. Same with the mouse. Move everything away from the headphones. Use different ports on different sides of the computer if you can.

From what I can tell it's EM interference being picked up by the audio cables from other internal components. I recall one guy had success moving the audio cables away from the LEDs. Best solution is to use the port on the back of the PC, but if that's not an option unplugging the hard drive and power LEDs might fix it as well. It's a pretty common issue though, so I'm not sure that there is going to be one specific cause.

Remote control enthusiasts use ferrite rings to absorb the interference. Not sure if this is practical for headphones, although it should work in theory. Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/6-35mm-Green-Magnetism-Ferrite-Ring/dp/B005PT58LW

Some headphone outputs have ferrite beads in the actual circuit I think. I don't know much about ferrite beads, but it's definitely possible to degrade the performance by adding them. But as stated, it can filter out some of the undesired high-frequency noise—and potentially improve the electrical stability. Though really, any circuit you'd be dealing with should hopefully already be stable without you having to hack in something to help it out.
I'd recommend just using the back panel connection (and an extension cord if need be), though.

I may be wrong there, so you should check. But that fan is pretty damn quiet, and it's bigger (bigger -> slower -> quieter on average). Depends on where you put it, because some places will NOT fit that kind of fan (e.g. the top of a corsair case, unless you have a drill handy :p). The Thermalright (calling them Thermaltake is an insult IMO) TY-140 is indeed a great fan. Bah indeed. Cannot think clearly 3 minutes after waking up lol.

I don't know if this the right thread to be writing this in, but i feel that "SC2 Strategy" is the wrong forum. So on to the question: When i am playing SC2 the units responses (and those of buildings) get cut off by each other. For instance if i click on one scv and it then begins to say it's "greeting frase", if i then click on my CC while the scv is talking, the line gets cut off. The scv doesn't finish the whole sentence, and this is the same with every unit, race and building in the game. Does anyone have an idea of what this could be? Is it my soundcard or is it fixable from the options menu? I have tried several setting, but none of them do the job. That might be because the number of sound channels (ambient noises, sound effects, unit responses) your StarCraft can play at one time is low. You can change this in sound settings on the lower right, if I recall correctly.
Thank you kind gentleman! i will without a doubt try this. If it doesn't work, the computer is going to be thrown in the trash and exchanged

No you can't because its an AMD system. It must be Intel and you will save a lot of pain if all of the relevant audio/LAN chipsets are from Realtek.

Make sure your GPU is plugged in and seated properly, and make sure your display is connected to the GPU and not the motherboard.

Current: Q9550,4gb ddr2,800mhz, gts 250, EP31-DS3L
Thinking: i5 2500k, 8gb drr3 1600mhz, gts 250, p67A
Would it worth it for smooth streaming sc2 and bf3? (everything on low)
|
Q9550 is not bad and should be able to stream, but with lower quality settings than an i5-2500k of course. What's your upload speed, and what kind of resolution / fps / preset are you running for the stream?
People with Phenom II X4 can stream 480p fine, and those have almost exactly the same level of performance.
|
my upload speed is pretty bad 0,7mbps, but i think it's my cpu holding me back because i also have very low fps on 200/200 pop with every setting on low, it's a 4 year old computer. I am trying 1088x612 atm, 20 fps, preset is xsplit default, bitrate 400kbs.
