I personally use my mouse buttons for my army hotkeys. The front one on my deathadder for main army and the second for spellcasters (binded to 9 and 0). I've gotten used to it so my mouse speed isn't slow at all. I don't plan on playing competitively at all so I use this system because it feels more comfortable to me atm. And if your wondering, 1 is Nexus/2 is Gateways/3 is Robos/Stargates/4 is Forges and the rest are for any other building I need.

Starcraft 2 was my first RTS so I'm not used to pressing the 5-8 buttons at all.

I'm able to play at around ~100 EPM(~60apm) at platinum league.

Implying that I'm not a "real gamer" because I played WoW is why he's being called a duesch thezan. I agree a 13 button mouse is something only a MMO gamer would need. Only other thing I've ever used the buttons for was DPI switching in FPS's and spotting in BF3.

I don't want this thread to turn into a game I don't play anymore because the arena in that game really is terrible but like it or not, it's still a "real game." Even though WoW pro's don't make as much people still play the game professionally. Wheaton's law, "don't be a dick."

I use it for control groups 9 and 0.
I usually I put the units with special roles there: my scouting scv, reapers, banshees, loaded medivacs, ghosts, ravens.
All the units that are going to require special attention. I need to be able to access them quickly without messing up, so I put them on my other hand. It also helps balance out the apm I need per hand.

I like rather simplistic, but effective, accessories. My Razer Salmosa only has 2 buttons and a wheel. The use of such extras does feel a bit off, but I guess as long as you never use macros and such for any more than a single action it is ok. The game is not really designed for that, so the answer to your question is probably 'personal preference'.

I have three buttons on the left side about my thumb I use the back one for ctrl as it makes it easier to control group my army and I use the middle one for camera so that I don't have to use the edge of the screen as often....

I actually bought a Razer Abyssus partially because it HAS no extra buttons, just right and left click and a scroll wheel. Keeps me from being distracted, and reminds me to use the keyboard (which is far faster) for whatever possible.

I have a Deathadder with two extra button, never use them with SC2, I don't want to depend on a certain mouse to play this game! Feel kind of unfair and the whole accuracy issue really holds me back from using them.

I mainly use my shoulder buttons for web browsing and stuff, so i have my back shoulder button bound to backspace and my front shoulder to CTRL+Tab. Don't really use it in game though.

i use them for "back" and "forward" in web browsing, in-game i use them as hotkey 7&8, since its uncomfortable and inconvenient to reachthat far across during a game, and i only ever use them for observers/drops or whatever.

I use the back mouse button as base camera for injections. The front one I use as a location hotkey, which I usually set to where my live creep tumors are to help me spread creep.
