At the moment I'm using darkgrid so my mouse buttons are set to my CCs and to my rax or facts, depending on whether I'm going mech or bio. I've got used to it but it still doesn't feel quite right though, once my Noppoo choc mini comes I'll probably rebind them to an easier to access key and then put something like idle worker and base camera on my mouse.

i have a logitech g500 so it has 3 buttons on the side. one of them is my push to talk, and one of the other ones i bound to auto-run in MMO's. i don't use them for anything else at all.

Back button i have set as camera location for proxy pylons. Forward I have select idol workers. It's not "gimmicky" and doesn't affect my mouse accuracy by any means. I use F1-F4 as base locations.

I use the "forward" mouse button on the side of my deathadder for my base switching hotkey (backspace as default). I can chrono boost multiple nexii within a second now I've gotten accustomed to it. It's also quite good for when you off-race as zerg and need to inject larva.

I use CTRL on on of my buttons, and since my hotkey setup uses tab as a ctrl group I set TAB's function to backspace and bound that on my other mouse button. Since I use F1-4 as basecam views I don't need the basejump button.

Control and Shift are assigned to Buttons 4 and 5, so whenever I need to hit a Ctrl-Key or Shift-Key combination, I only need to press one button with each hand. I use the keyboard Control and Shift for a Control-Click or Shift-Click, for the same reason.

Its still a 1-to-1 assignment, so its not a violation of Blizzard TOS, but it makes everything much easier to reach.

I have the 'standard' two thumb buttons on my mouse
I use the one my thumb naturally rests on to do the same as Backspace (flick through bases) I use it to inject.
I've just bound the other to the same as space, not sure if I'll use it though.

I dont have mouse buttons and I really hate the fact that you can change hotkeys // bind mouse buttons... I feel it has dumbed the game down to retard level where anyone who can actually macro can player in mid-masters or higher.

I used a mousebutton for warpgates back when i played protoss. It was really intuitive and worked quite well, but i never used them for anything else.

IMO it's OK (actually better imo) to bind buttons on your mouse if you expect the next thing you to be a keyboard press. For example, binding a button to the warpgate key is a better idea (since the next thing you are going to do is press a key to select which unit you want to warp in) than bind it to storm (since the next thing you are going to do is try to aim a storm with the mouse). Personally, I only have queens and hatcheries on my mouse. Nothing else.

I don't use any mouse buttons apart from left + right click. My keyboard has enough easy-to-reach buttons for all the SC2 hotkeys my race has and I personally don't like the idea to have hotkeys on my mouse as well. For me the mouse is for micro only and the keyboard for macro, stutter-stepping and a-moving!

Also I don't think you get an extra advantage by binding buildings or control groups to your mouse instead of the keyboard so I don't think it will make the game easier. The only thing that might be a bit unfair is the scrollwheel trick if you are using it for infested terrans or other spammable spells.

I apply the same logic as the 10-finger system for typing. You should use different hands for modifier keys and command keys, because it is faster and more ergonomic. Therefore ctrl and shift in mouse thumb buttons.
