i am a hi dia, low master i have a razer naga and i use 4 5 6 9 on my mouse and it feels perfectly fine for people saying it lowers mouse accuauracy, you have no clue what your talking about... it just takes time getting used too thats all. WTF are you people saying that its gimmiky for??!?!?!? you have to get used t o moveing your fingers on a keybored to hit 1-9 that takes time same with buttons on a mouse just because the bottons are closer together does not make it simpler... best this i would say is to use a mix of both use the easy keys on your keybored 1-4 and then use the rest on your mouse...

I use it for camera hot keys. I play dark grid and having them on my razer naga instead of having to press alt and stretch the hand is amazing. Theres no real need for mouse accuracy for this function either so theres no real disadvantages. For my injects I hold the base cycle and click, or use the standard alt +keys if I don't have a queen at all my hatcheries.

Binding one of the side mouse keys as backspace is really helpful, especially for zergs.

I bound select idle worker and control group 0 to my side mouse buttons. I don't feel that it "messes up" my mouse accuracy or anything like that.

To start off i have a razer naga just for reference of what im using.

And i only use the 7/8/9/0 buttons for control groups since i have small hands and a big ass keyboard so i cant really reach those numbers witouth ending up diying on a battle.

Me too. I find it tremendously helpful, much easier than f1, and this way I can use F1 through F4 for the camera position.

As far as I know no pro gamer uses a mouse with more than 3 used buttons. It's not necissary.

This is totally wrong, since most Razer and Steelseries mouses come with these extra buttons.

They might not actually use them, but I guarantee most pros use a mouse with 5 or more buttons.

As a Protoss player, I use the front button of my DeathAdder for Forge(s) and the back button for Cybercore(s). Easy access to upgrades :D

i strongly advise you to simply learn how to use the default hotkeys for sc2, and only use your mouse for left click and right click. this game functions nothing like wow, and it would be a bad idea for you to try and teach yourself to control it the same way as wow.

what most people do afaik is learn the default hotkeys and then slowly and slightly edit specific things to other keys just for comforts sake

i doubt u will find a pro gamer who uses their mouse for anything other than the left and rick click. this is not an MMO, this is an RTS, and your gonna have to learn to start from the bottom of the totem pole if you wanna be serious with this.

best of luck to you, i hope you enjoy sc2

That makes no sense, there is literally no reason not to use the mouse buttons if he finds them easier to use. The reason no pro uses them is because A) most of their mice don't have them B) they all played BW/WC3 competitively and are used to 1a2a3a4a5a etc.

Mouse4 for panning (rebound from 3)

Anyone who argues that this isn't more streamlined than screenbumping is wrong.

I have a deathadder, and I mapped the buttons to Lshift and Lcontrol. I love it because I can hotkey units so much easier by simply holding Lcontrol on mouse, hotkey number, and box select/shift control hotkey select units.

I use a Death Adder with the forward button as 'A' and the backwards button as backspace. I play left-handed so until I had a Death Adder I bound the backspace to the ` key because it was so awkward otherwise. I don't use the scroll wheel.

I've got the Deathadder. I personally use the two side buttons as 9 and 0, which typically hold my E-Bays / Armories as a Terran player. It actually becomes real natural after you play a few games with it - there's no drop in mouse accuracy at all if you know how to hit them.

The only thing I've ever used my left-side buttons on my Razer Imperator for is leveling up skills in DotA. I never really found an applicable concept for me in SC2, there really aren't any break periods where you can afford reduced mouse accuracy, when you could just as well do it on the keyboard in the same amount of time. That's just me though, and the Imperator has by far one of the less sophisticated side mouse button setups.

Left and right click only. Personally, I think all you guys using actual mouse buttons for control groups and beyond is "cheating." Maybe it is or maybe it isn't, but I suspect there is a reason we don't see Professional players using mouse buttons.
I might be the minority on TL, but TL is the minority everywhere else.
