All this auction house freakout reminds of the starcraft 2 MBS fiasco.
Setting boring subjects aside, I was wondering what exactly they meant by removing skill points.
When my guy levels up, what can I chose to upgrade? How do you boost your abilities. From what I understood you no longer dump 10 points into whirlwind so how does it get stronger as the game progresses? Is everything now centered on runes?

As far as I can tell yes, the only customization you have is selecting which skills to put on the hotbar and which runes to put in them. (They've said no stats/skillpoints, but the runesystem might change)
Your stats go up automatically and your skills will scale with your stats/level.

Passive skills too every 10 levels until level 30, but yeah that's pretty much it.
While I can understand that some people dislike the concept, I am actually looking forward to the Auctionhouse.
I understood that every player has a couple of free auctions per week available, which is ideal to get started and build up some starting capital in order to play the auction house properly, without having to invest any real money. And then I'll just try to sell all the drops that I dont need for my characters. Ideally I make some cash that I can then use to purchase the expansion and maybe a second SC2 account^^ in the Blizzard shop with money I made by playing as I would have played anyway. All in all I really like he concept of being able to sell that stuff.
I also dont think that it will influence the game too much. Contrary to an proper MMORPG, in Diablo 3 the gameworld is not persistent and gold doesnt seem to play big role anyway. So the personal impact is practicaly non existent (For my play at least, never liked PvP in Diablo 2 and I guess it will be the same in D3).
they have said that gold will play a much larger role, and be much more scarce this time around, Solai
but I really, really, am against this auction house. It seems like they're just legitimizing botters and cheaters. Why the hell would they think this is a good idea, they can't even stop the botting in WoW already.

Botting in WoW is not a big issue... And botting in D3 will be significantly more harder than in D2, because D3 will surely have a more sophisticated anti-bot and hack, plus as blizzard stated they want to make levels uniques so that every room in the level is different each time, thus the bot will need to have an artificial intel instead of repeating the same paterns over and over.

If not, there would be little incentive to do them unless you have $s.
If there is any incentive to do arena PvP in the first place, that is.
PvP will be allowed in Hardcore, but the Arena are gonna be desert (for high levels at least). I plan on doing some Hardcore PvP at high level, but I will do it only once or twice, because the time invested compared to the adrenaline rush isn't really worth it. I'll follow the HC PvP scene because it requires balls to fight to death at high level. This was still quite rare to see 2 high levels engage in a PvP in D2, but this won't be like D2 were you could quick escape out of a losing fight, in the D3 Arena system, you die, that's it.

Yes as well as gear. It's really not a bad system. Before you just dumped everything into vitality, which lead to far too similar characters, and dumped everything into 1 or 2 skills and the appropriate synergies.
I like the new system now, even though it seems like it'd dumbing down the game, you really HAVE to make a choice of which skills/passives you choose, how to rune, and which gear to pursue. Everyone won't be running around with the same few items because they might not be good with the skills you have.

It wont influence the game much, not because of this reason though. But because it will be the EXACT same as D2.
Anyone who does not think that D2 was not infested by RMT is out of their mind. Look at the typical end-game template - you know how many months of playing it would take to get enough runes to afford those sets? Yet EVERYONE had them? That's because you can drop $10-$20 on runes and have an entire set for a character.
More evidence that this happened is how in a week or 2 after server wipes, people are already geared up with these sets again. That doesnt happen without RMT/Duping.
Thing is, we won't have to worry about duping as much as we did in D2 due to more secure server architecture being developed in the last 10 years - especally w/ their experience on WoW.
You think I'm exaggerating or that this isnt true? Go to google and do some searches and see how many people literally made careers out of RMT on D2. Even in 2008 there was news reports on TV about people doing it. I knew people who were doing it. The majority of the people on my friend list used RMT. And every single person on my friend list had either an alt account or a friend handy with maphacks.
Someone earlier said something like 0.05% of players used RMT in D2??? You are straight up in denial. I guess only 0.05% of players used maphacks too, right?
People saying this "makes bots legitimate" arent thinking clearly either. Bots occur in EVERY game. No matter what game you make, the battle against bots is completely up to the developers to prevent it - meaning their game design has to take bots in to consideration and do what you can with the game mechanics to combat them (such as make the valueable loot in areas that a bot wont survive) and other means of enforcing their no botting rules.
It's just crazy how worked up people are getting over the RMT thing. These people were looking forward to the game because they OBVIOUSLY played D1/D2. It didnt ruin their enjoyment in those games. It won't ruin their enjoyment of this game.
As soon as the doubters play the real game and get a nice drop they dont need, and say "omg this is worth real money on the AH!" their complaints will stop. And all the people who are saying "screw D3 im just going to skip it and wait for GW2" - just wait until one of your friends tells you how much money they made, and you'll be eating those words as you head to the local bestbuy to pick up your copy.
BTW - GW1 was infested with RMT and "solo underworld bots" too. For years a friend of mine was selling 10 black dyes for $20 each, among other rares that they got from botting. Did this for YEARS and didnt get banned. Don't be in denial about what's going on, saying only 0.05% of the people are doing it is like saying only 0.05% of the people in America drink alcohol, smoke weed and take perscription pills.

I pretty much fully agree with everything hes saying. The scrubs are complaining, anyone that plans to totally own up the game is only happy to be able to make some change on the side.

D2 has random levels but due to map hacks you can find the exits every time tell that to the bot and have it tp there with enigma armor all you had to do was calculate the longest distance you can tp and factor that into the bot's movement so he wouldn't get stuck at a wall
I've been playing the Diablo series ever since the first one. Diablo 3 is going to be awesome and as a veteran I welcome the changes. The auction house is brilliant. I believe when people begin to experience it, they will come around to the idea. I remember how annoying Diablo 2 spam bots were and still are. No more bots, hammerdins, or spam? Sounds good to me.

Cant wait for the beta.
Same yo.. people judge ideas too fast. I think it'll work out wonderfully for everyone.
lately a friend and I have been playing hc d2 classic Ironman games in which you see how far you can go without ever using the town services (repair - i.d. - pots/equip - gamble) and using only what you find. it has been entertaining and we've made it through a4 2 times now. We give our characters an ironman suffix (so others aren't as annoyed by how slow we are moving through the game lol). Necro and Sorcie have been pretty easy, barb being the most challenging as weapons and armor fall apart quickly as you begin to do more damage.
Anywho I got to thinking how item drops in D3 were supposed to be individualized and how cool it would be if there was an option to play some sort of ironman character in which the ability to wear anything other than what you find with that one character was eliminated. Basically, your character would be limited to only the items that it found. You could give away your items to others or even transfer to other non-ironman characters of your own, but ironman characters can only use what they find. No trading, no AH, no fg, no shop buying as well. Ain't gonna happen, but just spittin the concept out.
Knowing blizzard they will add in pvp achievements. I am a little hesitant about the "6 active skills only" thing. I hope they will all be very unique skills with synergy which makes the game fun to play.

Well lets be honest its not like you use more than 6.. And the very best there are always like 3 skills to spams, others are just useless

Recent interview with Wilson on D3 PVP. It's 12 min long and somewhere here he mentions he'll do whatever it takes for HC PVP.
