He's out of WCS. Region lock is incoming, so he can't go to an easier region in 2014. Prime is in zero team leagues. What the fuck was he supposed to do for the rest of the year?

Source: inven -MarineKing has always had an interest in LoL. -Three months ago, he officially began his preparation to become a LoL pro player -MarineKing wishes to replicate his presence and achievements in the SC2 scene for the LoL scene -Currently is ranked Diamond on LoL -Announced on the 9th that he was on Prime's LoL team, "Optimus Prime" as the sixth player -Stated in the interview that, "I will never forget my fans that cheered me on for years. I will show a brand new form with that in mind. I did change professions but I will make sure to put on that fiery performance that my fans love on the LoL stage also." "I plan on officially starting my LoL career through the upcoming winter qualifiers so I hope a lot of people will cheer me on for that. I hope a lot of people will tune in to and support our newly released teams, Optimus Prime, and Sentinel Prime." -Supervisor Gerrard stated that, "Since MarineKing was such a prestigious player for the SC2 scene, there will be a lot of anticipations for him regarding his switch. I expect MarineKing to become a great player in no time at all. He's lived the life of a professional gamer for quite some time now so I'm sure he'll have an influence on his amateur teammates as well."

None of them are in challenger, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they're atleast in D1. Even then, the team synergy, play calling, strategies, and mentality are not something you can just find in solo queue. To give you a perspective, CJ Blaze's new mid and adc, are #7 and #25 in challenger with 60%+ ratio, and even they're the weak link of the team atm. Those korean comments are hypes about the coach, who recently retired from Special Force? (fps game, im assuming) with no LoL background experience. I'm not trying to be mean here, just realistic.

While having no chance of making money on a team with no money to send him to any international events. He can go off to LoL, try his luck, and if he bombs and fails ala Puzzle and Coca, he can just return at the start of the 2014 WCS season. He really isn't losing anything by switching to League. With no team league, he and everyone else on Prime not named Maru was completely fucked.

It seems like the scene has really lost its spark without him. Actually can't imagine a player whose retirement would be a bigger deal for the scene than Stephano's. Boxer was more of a BW deal, Idra was pretty big, but even someone like Puma was a multiple champion and it barely registered. I guess MC would be the next biggest, since it wouldn't surprise anyone for MVP or Nestea to retire (injuries/age/dropoff of skills), and if someone like Innovation or Soulkey retired there are tons of koreans to take their place. People like Flash and Jaedong would make the news but it would still be more about the BW side than their effect on the SC2 scene.

Without any chance to make money? I'm sorry but it doesn't work like that (for everyone). He has no real shots to participate in anything for the rest of 2014 - you can't just "practise" and wait for opportunities to magically appear. You can't in LoL or DotA or BW or CS either, not for extended amounts of time.
