This was a mistake. As it turns out, millatime turned invisible to my entire team, having none of them target him at any time. He then proceeded to shove his invisible dick up my ass nine thousand and one times three seconds after spawning. All. Game. Long. I ended up switching to soldier just to stop the nonstop farming. My play time was split between spitting obscenities at the screen and wondering how the hell this guy could do what he did. This was actually the first time I ever told someone to fuck off ingame, even knowing that it would only make my fate worse. Is it actually possible to beat a skilled infiltrator 1on1? I mean, this was the most brutal rapefest I have ever seen outside of a Quake pro smackdown. No matter where I went, he killed me, even if I went to the middle of the base in the middle of my team. And then he somehow survived, went to the spawn hill, and repeated the process. It actually felt completely and absolutely impossible to survive. Completely and absolutely impossible. Also, who the fuck is this guy? Is he the best inf in the world or something? I have never seen anyone who could do what he did, ever. My brain is still boiling from the rage and confusion at this guy's skill. I really can't think of words to describe exactly what happened both in game and to me emotionally. I don't think there are any words. This was just absurd. I haven't seen someone who could consistently beat me this badly in my hundreds of hours of playtime over a period of months. Even dueling people like TITAN, and even people better, I could fair better than against this guy. As badly as I was raped by this guy, I'm mindfucked even more.

"This was a mistake" What a great line. Never piss of the infiltroller. He will hulk out and gain immense strength and proceed to wreck your shit. And then he will feast on your qq tears and become even more powerful in an endless vicious cycle. And he can start every duel in an extremely favorable position due to cloak and high burst. You make me want to start playing again, even with black mesa out and borderlands 2 almost out.

Would that be enough for you to tell me how I go about beating a competent infiltrator 1on1, or if this guy is a comp player or something? Please?

If hes a comp player hes not one from the US, or at the least he doesn't hang around in tribalwar IRC. As for how you do it...go raider. Thats the answer for beating everything given the insane dueling power of the class.

Like Coriolis said, Raider is a really good choice(with jammer pack to keep them from cloaking). As an Inf, Brutes(and to a lesser extent Juggs) also often give me trouble, heavy spinfusor will one shot and I can no longer sticky and 3 jackal them anymore, so bursting them down isn't fast enough to stop them if they nail me on the first shot unless they aren't moving around a lot and I can 2xSticky them. Competent Inf is just going to be really hard, if they're careful they don't run into anything dangerous and only engage when they have the upper hand. Brute is a little better at surviving them when they pop out from stealth until you get a good disc hit on them. Raider is good at keeping pressure on them once they are revealed, but they can be bursted down if they aren't revealed yet.

And no, he wasn't meleeing me while I was scoped. As I am actively wandering around, looking for him and hanging around teammates, he would Stealthfusor me. And there was no escape or victory after that. Only death. The guy could pursue me and keep up with me while maintaining invisibility despite my best efforts and my entire team's presence. It was like being on a rubber leash tied to the spawn hill. No matter how far or fast I would run, he would catch up in seconds and kill me. And it wasn't him relying on 1-hit kill skill shots. It was stealthfusor-pistol-dead. You don't dodge that. He also managed to escape my team mates every time.

Drop jammer doesn't really help as they are obvious to spot and they just decloak out of line of sight of you and range of jammer. Flying doesn't help(even though infs need energy for cloak) in close-mid range because it just makes an easy target for pistol, which is quite powerful. Inf can almost always get the first hit, which is a huge advantage for dueling lights and mediums(not so much heavies due strong weapons which can one shot and usually enough health to survive a second shot). Once you've been hit, there's not much you can do to overcome that gap besides a solid grenade hit, which isn't easy or likely, or a lot of medium teammates around that instantly attack him or heavy weapons that destroy him to make it difficult for him to engage. Having a team that doesn't suck helps, but it's still pretty easy to get away as inf without a raider with jammer pack around if the team isn't responsive enough. Having a raider with a jammer pack helps a ton since the inf can no longer engage on his terms. Inf is good at close range and weak at long range, but can cloak to get into range. Sent is good at long range but weak at close range, and can't really do anything to stop a competent inf from getting into range. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but sent just doesn't have any real edge on inf in a duel besides super long range which doesn't help since they can cloak.

When we are talking about the tribes world, what exactly does HiRez own? I left the game at the time of release and now checked back on the forums, and it looks like they have just about cashed out. I'm hoping T:A raised enough eyebrows for a real company to pick up the franchise. e. I know firefall has a lot of tribes influence, but that game just looks so slow.

It is such a great idea and would make a great competitive game to both play and watch. I'm wondering how much of the stuff can be straight up copied. The chances of having a game like that is basically nothing. And firefall has ex tribes dev (mostly t2 from what I understand, which lets not forget that while t2 was amazingly scriptable the original game was horribly slow) but thats about where the similarities end. Honestly I didn't care for its slowness but if that kind of game is your thing it seemed decent enough. As for tribes universe I find that surprising, I figured they ditched that idea a long time ago. Not getting my hopes up but I'll probably play it anyways. EDIT 2010? Oh nevermind, idea is probably ditched. Originally T:A was supposed to be a $30, unlock everything, ski shoot fly game and tribes universe the MMO. Instead we got a mix of both.

Kinda seems like the game's struggling though. Hi-Rez sent out a survey asking what changes and features people want in the game. Changes include 3 classes (L, M, H) and no more regenerating health, as well as features like demo replays and clan support.
