As a general rule, if you miss a football game, you missed it. Obviously, you can tivo or whatever, but that requires setup and fancy equipment, but for 90% of games, you either saw it or you didn't. Vods change this- they mean I can watch the whole event totally fresh a couple days later. We should embrace this advantage, not reject it just because in football it's not the case. It's not fucking hard to just not put spoilers in the header. You can write all the news threads you want, just don't spoiler in the header. It's just not hard, and it makes everyone happy.

I never thought they could be serious. Holy fuck. With that considered, my concern isn't about the "spoiler fear" and what should be done about it, it's that there are people with the psychological inclination to go crazy when something is spoiled even when they deliberately go to a source of information which they know will spoil results. That's a part of the problem, right now TL.Net isn't suppose to spoil something, (check the TL rules, no spoilers in forums withinn the 48 hours the event has been played). If people were informed and "knew" they would get spoiled 100% guaranteed this discussion would be totally different, IF there even would be one.

What you're arguing for is a 1 click difference vs not being able to browse TL to not be spoiled.

If you don't want to see spoilers, watch the game before you open the website.

For example, the links to the VODs of this very tournament.

The thread title "MMA joins the $100,000 GSL Tour Prize Income Club", which says nothing more than "MMA won enough to put him over the $100k threshold" caused 10 pages of spoiler rage. The only way it is a spoiler is if you care enough to keep exact track of his earnings (and knowing that 2nd would have left him a little short), yet don't care enough to watch the game ASAP. (makes a lot of sense, I know)

First of all, who cares what they do. Second, message boards isn't a big component of their site, so it's not a good comparison. Finding out scores is easy enough without spoilers. What you're arguing for is a 1 click difference vs not being able to browse TL to not be spoiled. People's inability to count is staggering. One click to enter the thread. Scrolling.... Scrolling.... Scrolling.... Scroll back up.. Click "Show Spoiler" Now multiply that by the majority of people who prefer upfront results as seen in the poll within this thread. Now think of all the time, clicking, and scrolling you would save by avoiding the website. Having spoilers saves people on both sides of the argument time and energy. Having things spoiler-free wastes everyone's time, for the minority's sake.

Oh and people tend to use this site somewhere they can't watch vods.

Other news site do it because they need their headlines to grab attention. Trying to avoid spoilers just due to their headlines severely limits their options in making the headlines attractive for people to click on it. They also want people to have fast access to the latest news. It can be frustrating if you want to find out what happened and have to click on a few links (yes just a few more steps but we all complain about redundant steps in our lives anyways). Regardless, they actually have competition so they all seek to bring the latest news with pictures/big headlines to pull in viewers to their sites. TL has no competition as a news provider frankly. We are all stuck with this. When the day come when e-sports is big enough, and some people just want their latest news in a more convenient/user friendly way, then TL would suffer as a news provider. Frankly, the format/user friendliness is not the most convenient around here and the non-spoilers headlines only exacerbate the issue. TL does have its community though, which will always be good. Just stating my opinion on why other news sites do spoil in headlines and why it is beneficial for them.

I don't understand why you have to be sarcastic about the issue when you can logically argue about it. And it does save time. Not to mention we would probably have to check results at least thousands of times, we save a few hours out of all the times we have to click and scroll. Now multiply that by every member of the community. That was his point. Anyways i just hope the site clarifies on this issue and follows the majority just so i don't have to enter a few threads and instead of seeing any discussion, just see comments like "Thanks you spoiled it you retard" everywhere.

Pardon me if I'm incorrect in assuming that multiplication isn't your strong suit, but I don't have much else to go on but your post. That's 2 clicks, plus some scrolling, per person who hates having to do it. Go get yourself educated, learn about the world. Learn how our brains work. Did you know that one of the most commonly frustrating things for humans in western culture is the few minutes it takes to boot up a computer? Even waiting in line when we know it's necessary seems to make us upset. But by all means, your self-indulgent discourteous behavior should take precedent over the vast majorities short-tempered, albeit irrational, tendencies, all because you can't minimize the "SC2 GENERAL DISCUSSION" side bar.

Just collapse all the forums in the sidebar that could potentially contain spoiler topics the night before a big event that you don't want spoiled. Wait until you watch it, then open them up again. Stuff with spoilery titles isn't going to get spotlighted on the front page. And you shouldn't be browsing the SC2 general forum before watching something you don't want spoiled. So there you go.

My initial post was about the logic of the matter. It's the inconvenience of a couple clicks vs the inconvenience of having to avoid the site completely (not to mention that results are already on Reddit, as others have said.) The people who are bothered by spoilers are hardly a small minority. In the US, the GSL is at 1am-4am on the west, and 4am-7am on the east. Also, Europeans have problems with US time zones. I just think that this whole thing is much more significant for those who want to avoid spoilers than a couple of clicks for everyone else minus those who simply open Reddit.

Well according to the poll, only a small minority of the community wants to avoid spoilers. And you could, like the poster above your post said, just collapse the side bars so everyone can have what they want.

They are a small minority under 10%, look at the poll on the front page
