Hey Shawn!
With all the traveling you are doing it is already easy to get sick; so getting more in shape and all around healthy is definitely going to cut that down and you'll feel a ton better.
I've gotten out of shape as well bud. So I plan to get a gym membership and will take on this challenge.
5'10 - 225lbs.
You have a whole community here to help through it. You can also talk with half the EG house as well, they seem to be either playing sc2 or at the gym. :D

Sounds good! I'm in my zerg hero...I've been wanting to get in shape.
5'6" - 190 lbs

Hey Good Luck Sheth we will be cheering for you in your games and in your diet. We all know you can do it!
|
i know alot about personal training and whatnot...
this is a great thing to do IF you do it safely! don't go on some stupid crash diet because you're body still needs nourishment so you can have energy to work out and build muscle...rather than eating less you should eat healthy...no fast food, food with a lot of fat etc.... eating small meals every 2 hours is best and make sure you're getting alot of protein...drink protein shakes at least 30 mins after working out.
you probably have done your research and know most of the stuff i'm telling you but just in case you didn't i wanted to give my input
best of luck to ya!!

I've been overweight my entire life and I went out and bought an exercise bike so that I could watch Starcraft 2 streams on my TV while exercising (helps get rid of the boredom) and I just wanted to say you have finally given me the kick in the butt I needed to REALLY get going on becoming healthy. I'm at 216 pounds and believe me I'll be busting my butt right alongside with you man =)
Good luck! Sick, maybe while on the bike you can watch my stream too ;D
Well I thought it just went without saying! =P

Heya Sheth!
I will gladly participate! Everybody needs motivation to keep going on physical fitness. As the Major over the AFROTC morning PT always said at the end of the hour, "Are you guys motivated? Because you motivate me!" as well as "Train like you fight!"
Weight: 180 lbs Stomach: tbd* Chest: tbd*

I dropped from 285lbs to 185lbs over about two years with zero dietary restrictions and on-and-off in the gym, on the principle of that's easier to control shopping than eating, so don't buy what's not ideal to eat. Once you get used to whatever physical activity you fancy (besides fork or spoon lifting), it's a breeze. I'm a gym guy and there's no better feeling (well, besides women and ESPORTS) than to run comfortably on the treadmill.

I went from 290 to 260-265 (varies day to day) in the past 4 months without doing anything special besides not eating terribly. It's not that hard to be honest. I still cheat once in a while and eat crap (ice cream, cookies that aren't crackers, chips, etc once in a while, although I only buy my groceries every 2 weeks and I don't buy too much junk food otherwise I wouldn't eat anything else).
I replace my dinner with a salad without dressing 2-3 times a week. I stopped eating at the restaurant (only once in the past 4 months, I was craving a pizza) which also saves me a ton of money that I couldn't really afford to waste anyway. I'm trying to save money as well so I'm buying cheap food most of the time; I eat pasta, rice or noodle soup on a daily basis pretty much which is not really great in terms of taste (and high salt content) but still better than junk food. I buy a bloc of cheese that I cut into small parts and add some to whatever tasteless thing I'm eating usually. 1 bloc costs around 8$ (or 4$ if I'm lucky enough to get them on sale) and lasts me 2 weeks easily so it's not too bad. Also put some random meat pieces in. (chicken or ham; I buy a huge ham every 45-60 days when it's on special for like 15$ and that lasts me for 2 months -- cheapest way I found to add meat to be honest. My parents gave me some chicken but it's too expensive for me normally). Lastly, I eat eggs and toast a lot too.
So yeah, diet is not very varied but for about 60-70$ per grocery (or 120-150$/month) I can eat well and relatively varied (and I still eat too much so I could bring that down to like 100$ a month if I ate a little less and cut junk food from that).
Exercise is secondary. I do some sporadically (I do it for like 2-3 weeks then I get busy and I get lazy and/or forget about it for a few weeks, then start again... not really useful that way) and it hasn't changed much in how I'm losing weight. You do feel better after doing some exercise for 30-60 minutes each day though.
All in all, when you start at a massive weight, it doesn't take much to lose it (I assume until I reach around 210 or so it will stay relatively easy). Just don't eat too much junk and be patient, simple as that. I stayed around 270 for like 45 days, then I started losing weight again without changing anything. Sometimes it's just weird like that.
Finally, don't try to over do it. It sounds like a fun contest but you're not supposed to lose too much weight too quickly, it brings about health problems. You're supposed to lose like 10-15% of your weight max per year so that your body can keep up. Still, starting at 300 pounds it's not too bad if you lose weight more quickly. I mean, it's hard to lose weight slowly if you're trying to lose weight starting from 300 lbs. Just don't try to lose 20-30 pounds a month.

Hello Sheth,
I’m going to be honest Sheth, I’ve been struggling with overeating and binge eating for about 3 years. I know from personal experience that you don’t get as big as me or yourself without some serious issues in your past, feeling horrible about your body, depression, and crying. My weight capped out at 284 lbs. and I got a warning from my doctor that I was borderline diabetic and had fatty liver issues that could kill me as soon as my 30’s. Recently I started using Starcraft as a metaphor for my life and have applied WhiteRa’s words “more gg, more skill” to everything from work to weight loss. Since then I have lost about 15 pounds and counting. But I want to accelerate my weight loss so I’m going to accept your challenge! As someone who plays Starcraft a lot I know that being fat hurts gameplay; low energy, back pain, and poor circulation compound the challenges of winning a match, particularly long macro games. Perhaps the worst part about being an obese gamer is losing. I have lost games and been so down on myself that I think “you lost that game and you’re fat, you’ll never be good at anything.” It’s a horrible feeling and I would be willing to bet that you know that feeling too. Let’s never have that feeling again!
C’mon Sheth, let’s do this for The Swarm! We’ll become better gamers and healthier people. We’re going to eat right and have as much energy as a Marine with Stim and run as fast as Speedlings! We can do this. Sheth and ZergSamurai fighting!

Good luck Sheth! I know you will be able to achieve your goal
