It sucks that some of the new players probably won't get to play as much but on the other hand, some of the older players might start sucking instead, such is the way of the world. By my count there are 105 games in a season per team, which should provide ample opportunities for the new players to shine or fail. This might hurt teams like KT and SKT the most, since Bisu and Flash are superaces and can usually be relied on to win 2 games each match but CJ, Team8 and Stars will still have to win against higher quality players if they want to win instead of relying on luck. I think this setup will definitely lead to much higher quality matches overall. And maybe next year we'll return to BO7 or something, assuming another network shows interest in BW. Curse you MBCGame for bailing on us.

but without ACE mode coaches will have to let worse players go first, just to save gosu for last sets my biggest question now is: will there be FANTASY PL ????

Overall though, I really prefer Ace matches. And hope they change this policy for the 2nd half of the season.

three rounds > PO > final for first half > winner of first half. three rounds > PO > final for second half > winner of second half. pretty simple. each team plays 21 games per season, 7 games (1 against each team) for a total of 3 matches per season against each team. it makes each game so much more important in the standings. also, i don't know about the no ace match yet, i think it'll make the games before it much more important and thus more exciting to watch.

As others have intimated already, I'd watch Bo1 with 7 seasons and no Champion in any of them as long as they're playing BW. P.S. Thanks for the update.

The way last season was run wasnt apparently commercially viable and sustainable - the sponsors pulling out, TV ratings low as theyve been. So they did, with the concise BO5 format, to focus the proleague content on the best players, and league straight to the point with the double finals, making every game count. Remember, this is business, they cannot continue doing the same thing if it isnt turning a profit. And for the few past seasons, Proleague hasnt. So then what could possibly be the rationale for removing the ace match?
