And here's my symphonic offering. Adagio is as symphonic as Nightwish but as technical as Dream Theater, if not more technical at times. Their keyboard player is a monster. I'm loving all of the Ensiferum, Wintersun and Therion love.

What I like about this thread is it is easy to define power metal and symphonic metal so we don't have to constantly deal with people bringing in crappy metalcore and and attempting to proclaim how metal they are. I have always stuck by a rule for good metal bands and it almost always works (I can only think of 3 cases where it doesn't). This rule is that if the band is good either the band's name is 1-2 words, or no more than 5 syllables. Think of almost any good power metal band and this rule works, same with most good thrash bands, black metal, melodic death, etc. None of the crappy new American "metal" bands follow this rule.

its celtic/viking metal. but its AWESOME. I figured I would include it because it has a similar feel to some, its pretty melodic, but if you don't like growling vocals, its probably not your thing. Finntroll - Trollhammeren + Show Spoiler +
