Oh come on...their older stuff and some of their newer stuff can easily be Power Metal if you look past it being DT. In any case, they're epic enough, which is all that matters, right? :o

Oh. My. Lawdy. I first discovered power/symph metal on Pandora many years ago when I was in 9th grade and had just started playing WoW. The fantasy lyrics combined with me getting huge into WoW lore/fantasy in general really clicked and I listened to pretty much every band that has been listed in this thread so far. Eventually though I met friends in high school that got me out of it and into hardcore/deathcore/grindcore, then eventually got into electronic music after high school.

Anyways, I don't think I could go back to the "core" music, but I can def see myself getting back into power metal after listening to some songs I used to love that were posted in this thread. Currently jamming to Ensiferum, actually. :>

I little embarrassed to admit only learning of power metal through my Dragonforce Pandora station, but I love this type of music!

Love the epic-ness that is Edguy's Theatre of Salvation Album, definitely recommend. (At my job in College I would blast Edguy and I got told to turn it off because one of the women there couldn't handle Tobias hitting his high notes haha)

Iced Earth is a pretty good band from the US.
Helloween is always an awesome choice!
Really enjoy Rhapsody of Fire and Dreamland as well!

Will have to post some songs when I get home from work! Let's keep this thread lively!!

I only discovered Xandria a few weeks back, but I'm really liking their style. The new vocalist Manuela Kraller is very reminiscent of Tarja from Nightwish, and in my opinion their latest album is on the level of Century Child/Once but with a little more metal. I've only really listened to their latest album so I can't really comment on their previous work with other vocalists, but I'll definitely have a look.

Also, been listening to a lot of Symphony X lately. Michael Romeo is pretty good.

And this is by far my favourite. It's kinda proggy but still a sick song, though Symphony X is more of Power/Prog hybrid than anything. The base/synth line at 5:30 is spectacular.
