This thread took a turn for the awesome. Read the OP then then the last page; Highly recommended.
Thank you for making my morning brighter. I don't think I could have ever drawn the comparison of kicking owls to kicking babies. That is just pure comedy right there.
His first post was bumping a 3 year old thread with a one liner insult, his second post was this gem your highlighting. Good riddance I say and thats not even considering whether its a PBU or not.
So much red text. 5 warning and a temp ban. There's a lesson here kids. Don't fuck with the Idra fan club. Especially if you are debating LoL vs SC2, for christ's sake.

Try harder on your next account.
Note the time signatures and the moment however minor of remorse...its there if you look hard enough
More like the guy wasn't remorseful at all, but edited it to tone down the hate in an attempt to dodge moderator action. Unfortunately for him, TL.net Bot sees all.
EDIT: Also, can we please start handing out warnings and/or bans for people who chronically misuse the term "troll"? I'm getting sick of seeing naïveté, hostility, jokes, and other unrelated actions being labeled as trolling, and I'm sure others are as well. There's a thread right now in SC2 General with the OP discussing Carriers (in a manner indicating unfamiliarity with the forum guidelines, which is bad, but understandable), and the first reply is "Replay or troll." It's frustrating to see the meaning and context of a perfectly suitable phrase become inexorably perverted by the same sort of people who use "bonjwa" to describe anyone who performs fairly well at a tournament.

Agree with this completely. Perhaps not bans, but warnings should definitely be handed out for continued misuse of the word. There are a couple of other ones that frustrate me (notably the word "cheese" or "all-in", in LR threads specifically), but hey - that's normally a problem concentrated in LR threads, which are normally shitstorms anyway.

Yeah, it seems "troll" is attributed to anything even slightly stupid on the internet (i'm guilty of it too). People seem to think that everyone on the internet is some sort of hyper-intelligent master of sarcasm and wit, when in reality, "trolling" is just a shitty excuse used by idiots when they've lost an argument (if such a thing is possible on the internet), or have been exposed as a complete twat. Sure, there is legitimate trolling, but I agree with Aeres that the term has become far too general, and certain people will just attribute it to anything that's out of line.
"Do not attribute to malice trolling what can adequately be explained by stupidity"
When did "trolling" require being a "hyper-intelligent master of sarcasm and wit"? Trolling, as derived from the fishing term, is all about making a post that stirs up a reaction, not to have a discussion. It hardly takes a "hyper-intelligent master of sarcasm and wit" to do that.
Now, it might require a clever troll to do that. But there's a difference between someone who's good at trolling and someone who isn't. We shouldn't reserve the term just for good trolls.
A reactionary post like that Carriers OP could be due to simple stupidity/arrogance. Or it could be due to a bad troll.
Troll is sometimes used when someone says something illogical or irrational. It's a sarcastic accusation, meaning they don't believe they're intentionally doing it but that there is no way someone honestly thinks like this because it has no rational point of connection, thus they must be uttering these things to engage a reaction.
They don't believe they're a troll, but the alternative feels equally unlikely.
"Troll" has lost its meaning, much like the word "hate" or "love" in today's colloquial use. A troll used to be someone actually really god damn smart. They would take a semi-legitimate idea, blow it up, and make other people riled up over it. Saying something stupid or irrational doesn't make you a troll, it just makes you stupid and irrational. Just going around doing shit to stir up trouble does not make you a troll, it makes you an ass. For me, just like in the "old" days (oh god why did i use that terminology) a troll is defined as someone who can use his intelligence, and his wit to curve other peoples ideas on themselves to get a reaction out of them.
Destiny is an example of a good, dare I say "troll." Some guy on an internet forum being an idiot posting a stupid reaction image is not a troll, in my opinion. In fact, even recognizing him as a "troll" furthers him as by you are implying that he actually made anyone mad. Just saying "banned for being an idiot" is far more effective in my opinion.
But that's so off topic, I don't even know why I'm talking about it.
