For the most part, I think the community is wrong. If you had said any other word, and I mean ANY other word, people would have shrugged it off or laughed... instead you got fired by a company for actions that were carried out before you were ever even with that company. I'll watch your stream even if you continue to use the word, you know why? Cause its just a word for crying out loud! Many of you will attempt to copy me and call me a racist, biggot, moron, etc.... but you know what? Those are just words too, people really need some thicker skin. Your language in your stream is your own choice, I'm there for the analysis and entertainment of the game. I could care less what BM you spout off after a loss. GL Orb, too many overly-sensitive people in the world for this NOT to hurt your career, I hope you can still come out on top.

Koreans eat dogs and we hate for it, but its in their culture, same as the N-word in the U.S. sure we can ban it from tv/movie etc but removing it entirely? ppl are just kidding themselves. I'll be damned if I'm going to take lessons on American culture by a Canadian... Using the n-word in the U.S. is considered highly offensive and culturally unacceptable. I understand that people do use the word, but that doesn't mean there isn't a negative stigma associated with uttering it.

I will be very surprised if Orb ever casts again for a public tournament. He's not that popular, he's not bringing in any new fans or viewers, and he certainly has the potential to alienate some viewers (as well as the potential to raise the ire from some sponsors). From a business perspective, it just isn't worth the trouble to work with him. I wouldn't be too surprised if you see some more orb, man. I mean you are making an assumption that he is not that popular, yet many people seem to support him through all of this. Also, as far as "not bringing in any new fans or viewers" I think you are also making a pretty big assumption. Regardless of how many people he has or hasn't attracted to the game, he has still done more for Esports than you or I have combined, which is not worth overlooking. Oh, and "from a business perspective," why does Destiny, who has been cited a few times during this melodrama, still receive invites to tournaments and showmatches? I'll tell you why; because when people put down their pitchforks and get some chamomile tea in them they tend to return to rationality. It really is fascinating how much power people give to words.

You really missed the boat that badly? He has to prove he didn't drop the initial n-bomb, as it has been proven that he has repeatedly dropped it in the exact same context as the initial one. If you are a pyromaniac, and someone finds a lighter with your name and address on it at the scene of an arson, you have the proving to do.

Insults are there to be offensive to the person youre talking to. If its racist, sexist or whatever who gives a shit. Did you ever see a racial tension of orb on his Stream when he was casting ESV games? No. As it is for every other cast ive watched by him. What makes you think youre above a guy who used some insult 4-5 times. What makes you think you should be his judge altough you have no clue or real reason to be offended. What makes you think you should end his career and basically kill him publicly because of a stupid thing like this. He didnt do anything wrong during professional casts. Thats what matters. Youre the pathetic one here buddy. - Calling somebody "ass" or "nigger" are the same things? - A lot of people "give a shit" (and should). Thats why orb is now a thing of the past. - Your the one to decide when i have a "real reason" to feel offended? I did not know that, sorry. - I did not end his career, he did. I dont know a lot of places on earth, where racism is welcome. - I tend to avoid racists. I dont like listening to somebody, of who i know hes racist in his free time. Sorry, I cannot enjoy anything when i know the "dark" background of a personality.

Sorry, I cannot enjoy anything when i know the "dark" background of a personality. Saying "nigger" doesn't make you a racist. Saying "nigger" to (or directly about) a black person with the express intent of evoking the racially charged history of the word while harboring feelings of hatred/bigotry towards said ethnicity makes you a racist.

There's a certain threshold of acceptable behavior for "public figures" and you generally cross the line when you drop the N-bomb under any context unless you're black. I am personally not that offended by the use of the word, but I think it is troubling when the community says "it's fine to use that word in the context of a ladder game and people are overreacting" because I think the correct reaction is to pause and ask ourselves "is this language acceptable for someone who is a public face of Starcraft E-sports?" EG and their sponsors clearly have an answer to that question, and it is debatable whether the punishment fits the crime. I took a more aggressive stance against Orb yesterday when I wasn't aware that those games were played long ago, but EG doesn't really have a choice if they want to keep their sponsors. I hope the takeaway lesson here for all aspiring SC2 players and casters is to be careful with what you say since you never know when it can come back to haunt you. We all rage and have a tendency to bm but there are benefits (or at least no negative consequences) to being well-mannered even when you're unhappy. Orb took a bullet for others in the community so learn from his mistake.
