I think if it's an option, it's quite good.
It can be useful for team games (as an alternative to team colours), for observers, especially for mirror matchups and could be nice for the campaign as well. For 1v1, being able to see the health of units through colours is probably better than having differently coloured health bars.

When I played hots at gamescom, at least the yetis had these red health bars and while it was strange at first, it seemed to fit after a while to have your enemies with them. Just keep it as an option, especially for multiplayer.

This is nice; I find it really hard to tell units part in a pvp, especially if they blink into my army or something.

Uhh, Warcraft 3 didn't have red HP bars on enemies, just bars that changed from green (healthy) to red (danger). I don't know what you're on.

This is actually a neat change, I'll admit. I'm all for it.

It's silly to play without them. Helps with targeting down hurt units and saving your weaker units in battles as well.


Nestea and Losira don't play with them turned on. They just press alt whenever they need to take a quick glance. QXC doesn't either unless he changed recently.

How do you think BW players focus fire weak units? You box enemy units and it takes no effort at all. In SC2 you even have the option to "tab" health bars on and off during engagements for this purpose.


You can't box enemy units. BW players would focus fire weak units by either selecting them individually or by "guesswork".

Isnt this going to complicate spotting low health units? what color does the bar turn into when those units get low on HP? havent seen the vid yet.

how is it hard to tell when an enemy unit is low on hp by looking at the boxes, obviously you target the ones with the fewest boxes above their heads. people are so damn picky these days. if you have better ideas go create your own RTS game and see how it stacks up against SC2.

I would have preffered to see the enemies health bars be green the way they are now and your own units to be blue, and keep the same orange to red shift as a units health decreases. Green health bars stand out and make it easier to see units, blue might obscure them a little on the enemy but aside from a bad habit of not hot keying observers I know where my units are.

The consistent red just makes it hard to tell how much health a unit health is if the bar just decreases yet remains the same color at a glance. If your taking time to analyze the amount of health left on units in a battle your losing time doing everything else. So all in all not sure if like. Ill have to play with it and see it myself, and I hope its adjustable setting.

Edit: TheLastGoose its not about being picky its about changing what works well enough already. Even in a ZvZ its not hard to see what units are mine and theirs. Why make it easier to see that difference and only to make it harder to see what lings or roaches are lower on health. Takes more time to spot low boxes health counts, then whose units they are. It would be picky if people were asking for the feature to be implemented. Its not picky to ask to keep things they way they are.

oh forgot about the changing colors... that will be a problem... maybe it's just for the campaign though

this is cool, though personally, I'd prefer just not showing the bars at all lol. Seriously, the game just looks like barsCraft. A big mess like LOL, one of my biggest problems with IPL.
