He needs a Terran panel and you give him those two? Lol. Not only based on skill level, but how hard incontrol would troll them.

Yeah better take gretorp and drewbie that would be fun

Why do I keep seeing posts about how the Brotoss are saying Terran are OP? Complaining about a broken spell like EMP is not saying the race is OP. Like Tyler said EMP literally can do 1000+ damage without even having to upgrade to use it. That is something that should be looked at honestly.
Haven't they both joked about how comfortable PvT is for them right now? Once the patch notes came out they were joking around about how it would be added pressure to not lose any games against a Terran because they would look bad. I can remember Incontrol saying exactly that.

Arguing in a "grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" way like the bros did in the case of "Banshee vs Dark Templar" debate is kinda bad if you ask me, because both units are clearly meant for different roles and comparing a ranged flying unit to a melee ground unit is kinda like compairing apples to elephants.(*1) I am *never* able to tell when Tyler is being sarcastic, simply because his voice never ever changes. The only thing I can do then is guessing what he means, but I am still not sure and that is kinda bad in an environment where people tend to get emotional about tiny things. Even if I think they are making fun, both are blowing "Terran is imba"-trumpet constantly (EMP is soo strong, cloaked Banshees are so much better than DTs, ...) and that is kinda tiring me of the show because people who use these phrases (or talk in such a way) are not trying to be objective. Even if IdrA is on the show there is no one who talks about the problems of Terrans. Its not like Terrans have an easy day on the field when they play and an automatic win. The argument PainUser gave for the removal of the Khaydarin Amulet and the "sluggish acceptance" of this argument by at least Tyler shows some one-sidedness of their views. So IMO the show needs to make sure what kind of show it wants to be: either serious and objective on the serious topics(*2) or just the "fun trash talk corner" all around. In any case there needs to be a permanent Terran or a toning down of the one-sidedness or else the show is getting too "Terran-is-imbaish". Btw.: I dont *hate* either of them and using that word in the context of other people most of us dont know personally is nothing other than "putting fuel into the fire" of a potential flame war. "Hater" and "Troll" (or their verb-form) never ever help a discussion. (*1) Apples are imba, because they can be red and that is probably the most popular color in the world. /sarcasm off (*2) "Game balance" really is the only one that comes to mind here and patch notes and maps belong into this category. Really? I have no trouble telling when Tyler is sarcastic, the content of what he's saying gives it away. And they're right, sort of, when they talk about banshees and EMP. They kind of are absurdly strong. Terran as a whole isn't overpowered, but a few individual abilities and units are so freaking strong by themselves that it's kind of ridiculous. But the podcast isn't serious anyway, they make some decent points and we all get to laugh. What's wrong with that?
this really isnt the thread for this, but emp and banshees are absurd?
every protoss unit beyond gateway meat shields is absurd at its role, terran having a few units like that is hardly a point of dicussion.
i agree with you that i dont think its hard to work out when tyler is joking, and geoff too; and normally they are pretty funny i just thought this week the joke went on for far too long and the amount of content in the show suffered because of it

It was SO refreshing and nice to finally have a terran in the show to step up against the usual protoss/zerg bias we constantly hear about in SotG.
please PLEASE PLEASE make sure to have Painuser or other terrans as regular member of the show to make it balanced! It's so much more enjoyable for terran players to have someone be their voice.

Imo Painuser was great on the last SotG. His assertive approach towards the DT/Banshee topic was impressive. Lots of folks would fold where Painuser sticked to his beliefs.

Part of the problem I've had with the podcast lately is that it seems to have gotten a bit "clique-ish". I really think there needs to be a greater variety of guests for it to get away from that. Husky compared it to "The View" with good reason. The first third of that show is just them talking, with no guest. That's fine for a while, but you have to transition away from it to avoid being too insular. When their guest comes out, the show isn't about the hosts anymore, but about that guest. Host personalities can still stand out, they're just not the focus. Episodes with the MLG people were good for this reason.
Variety is also important, as I stated earlier. Painuser is cool, but when I saw he was the guest, I didn't feel I needed to go through the trouble of downloading it cause I don't think I'm going to hear any new perspectives. Likewise when Idra is a guest.

I liked the show with Painuser. It was a good mix of funny and informative. I think attempting to keep that sort of balance will improve the show over the long run. Great job!
On the other hand I want to punch a sleeping baby in the face every time incontrol's typing comes over his mic. PLEASE FIX IT!

Hm.. finding terran bros for painuser eh.
I think DeMuslim will be perfect. He is British and thus we can have more fun with accents and humor. DeMuslim and Rotterdam like to do impersonations of accents as well to make fun of people in a good way so that will be a good fit. And he is a damn good Terran player of course. Plus, he is a badass so he probably won't get bullied and stay quiet on the stream.
Gretorp would be fun as well. Drewbie i agree. Qxc might be a little awkward since they will try to troll him the whole time and he will just be super serious and the whole show will be awkward / boring.
The cauthonluck ep was good. Too bad he retired =(

I wonder what PainUser would say about a Dark Templar piloting a banshee :D

I havnt seen any of them say terran is imba once, there was a bit of discussion about how emp is possibly too strong for one move doing 100 dmg, the whole banshee vs dt thing is a jokey arguement similar to what extended series became, and tyler didnt show one sidedness when it came to the amulet he said it didnt bother him as he never used it, i dont know where you got the opinion they think terran is too imba they were joking about the pressure of losing to a terran now as they had been nerfed so much.

Not to put words in anyone's mouth, but I'm pretty sure if you asked most progamers on that show, they'd all tell you that when the dust settles, the impetus is on the player to adapt and find strategies rather than to throw up arms and cry imba. That attitude just doesn't help you win tournaments or succeed in a competitive mindset.
At the very least, iNcontroL has stated many times that people can't expect mules, 4 gate, and 2 rax to be removed from the game somehow. People need to adapt and find ways around it. Broodwar had a 10 year history, SC2 barely has 1.
However, when the topic of the show is the discussion of patch notes, you can't expect the players to not discuss their views on how changes will affect the balance of the game. Of course players are going to be biased towards or against their race. Ultimately, Starcraft is their trade, and their race is the tool by which they ply that trade. Heck if you take that into account, they should be more serious not because the integrity of the show is somehow at stake, but moreso because the game they stake their living on is changing.
Instead they know not to take themselves so seriously all the time.
The DT/Banshee debate was a humorous discussion left over from past SotGs. It really shouldn't be read into any more than that, there aren't any balance claims being made. The question was simply "Would you rather have banshees? Or DTs". The same humorous discussion could probably be made about a ton of other units.
"Would you rather have Thors? Or Collosi?" I'm sure that would spark a fun discussion.
Besides that, I didn't see anything that was overly sarcastic or unprofessional. Taking out all the jokes and fun comments, I'd say there is still a huge amount of serious theorycrafting, critical thinking, and good arguments being discussed in terms of balance such that we need not worry about the show not being serious enough.
When map balance discussion was the topic (Ret was the guest), after joking aside, an excellent conclusion was reached which was to allow maps to be thumbed up, instead of thumbed down.

Husky is legit. He definitely contributes towards the community. When I first started streaming/casting, he helped attract some viewers to my channel. I didn't even ask him to! Although he may seem disinterested at times, I believe he truly has the community at heart.
As for the previous SotG, I was bursting in laughter with the PvT debate. I love PainUser's attitude during the discussion; how he fearlessly states his opinion without being a douche. Like as much as I love IdrA (and I don't want him to change), his attitude during discussions has the "I'm right, end of discussion" tone behind it.
Great episode this week, JP!
