Basically, machine(or maybe inka? i was only listening at the time) said something about saying goodbye to EG on sotg(instead of goodbye incontrol), then idra responded that that was not official, then asked JP if the stream was up. JP said that it was up, idra basically said ok whatever, and that was the last time it was mentioned as JP proceeded to try to restart incontrol's goodbye video. Any truth to that? I know that there are a lot of rumors about why incontrol is leaving the show, but this convo seemed pretty credible. didnt catch it, are you really surprised though considering EG just launched their own show.

There are NO personal streams, because anyone who can access the internet can join and watch. That is the nature of the internet that NOTHING IS PRIVATE ... deal with it! Sounds like you're the one that needs to deal with it. It is absolutely correct to say that if someone doesn't like what they're healing they have the power to turn off a stream. No laws are being broken here, so streamers can say whatever they want. If the community is as outraged as some people are claiming those streamers will feel the consequences in terms of lost followers. This is how it should work. You can offend people by saying almost anything.

Though rap has become much more manstream than it was say...20 years ago, there's still a huge audience that's alienated just due to the use of these buzzwords. It has found a target audience that doesn't mind (or, in many cases, embraces it), but how much could it potentially have hurt the growth, or at least slowed down it's somewhat mainstream acceptance? It's difficult to say for sure, though some of the mini-crusades in the 90s would indicate it was at least a contributing factor in staying so isolated for much of that decade.

If you look at any successful game/sport in the past, they didn't get momentum from a wider audience (outside their initial community) because of the game's innate coolness, but because of the culture behind it. In example - Soccer maniacs in Europe, who run on the streets chanting the songs of their favored teams. It's very contagious behavior, and makes you sometimes think "hey, I'd probably enjoy this culture" And then you pick up on the game later. It's the culture behind it that makes it or breaks it. Gaming culture is different from most of the other sports in the way that you compete in a game of "who is smarter", in various settings. Sure, sports of all sorts have some mental aspects to them, but they're mostly athletic performances in comparison to e-sports. This inevitably has lead to the point where we're more saturated with smart people. I try to dive into other communities outside gaming from time to time (just to see how those weirdos are doing) and I find myself bored out of my mind talking to people who struggle to understand concepts that I base my sense of humor on. The language we use represents that. When I use words like "raped", or "black", I've grown to expect my audience to be at an intellectual state, where they can detect real racism or real vulgarities judging the context in which I use them. I can easily say to a fellow black gamer that "you lost, cus ur black", and reaction will often be a hearty laugh or a witty comeback, as most of us can proudly say that real racism is too far below us for that joke to be taken seriously. When someone get's "raped", everyone, even outsiders, can understand that it's a metaphorical way of describing how badly one sided and engagement was. So I'd say, the hell, go with it when the situation calls for it. I don't necessarily mean that words like that SHOULD be used, but rather if it's the first thing that pops into your head, it's better to go with it than to have a caster to fail to awkward silences constantly, trying to find less controversial words. And I think if we're true to our culture, we can reach a much wider audience, even if it's through a rocky road of controversy, than if we sell out to these behavioral codes that make majority of us watch the stream muted. But all this only with proper judgement, obviously. If that cannot happen for weird reasons though, Destiny's compromise sounded good enough. As long as the culture can be kept elsewhere (streams), the major tournament casts can have less interesting commentary.

destiny's popularity comes in a large part from his 'dont give a damn' controversial personality. it's entertaining to watch, which is the most important thing for a streamer/viewers. destiny would not be destiny if he didn't use offensive language. however, i don't understand how anyone could argue against the fact that certain words are 'taboo' in society. certain words are far worse than other potentially offensive words in popular culture... that's just the way it is. also, using offensive jokes/words of the more obnoxious racial or sexual nature is childish. this is because it's the same language that kids use from the age of about 13.

However I completely disagree with incontrol saying that destiny has a responsibility to do the same on his personal stream because he now represents the community. Who decides when you cross over from angry guy streaming starcraft to community representitive? Should all streamers be censoring themselves or only the popular ones? In my opinion the contents of a personal stream represents the streamer and nobody else. The only exception I would make is the word nigger. I just don't think a white person should be using that word (cue the "omg black people can say it, why can't I??? hAXX!?"). I don't think it is a big deal for the decendants of people that were literally owned to own a single word. Just let them have it. But feel free to say anything else ![]()

So this basically confirms EG are the reason geoffs leaving and idra might not be back? That really sucks, not impressed at all

Inc will be missed; always provided good entertainment. As a general rule of thumb: serious issues on SotG is important, but having as many serious issues discussed on one episode was just depressing and a buzz kill. People want to hear stupid stories, random discussions, etc...

That whole "i need more time so i replaced my weekly 2 hour podcast with another weekly 2 hour podcast" thing didn't make a lot of sense from the beginning).
